Crypto-Mining Side Job

Recommended Posts

Hello!

After reading Bala's Criminal Overhaul 2.0 (which I believe has some REALLY good suggestions), I noticed he included the addition of crypto mining, I would like to expand on this with some of my ideas.

The original suggestion:

  • Quote

    NEW! Cryptocurrency Mining Freelancing
This would involve using the computers inside the BM to generate in-game cryptocurrency.
To do this, you would have to mine the cryptocurrency and successfully complete a math question at the end to release the currency, like a harder AFK math i.e. 731 + 627.
I'm aware people will use a calculator but that's not so important.
The Cryptocurrency amounts will fluctuate throughout the week, so to maximise the pay-out, you should wait for the right time to sell.
The server will fluctuate the price but high sales will drive the value down.
For the black market to make money here, the faction would have to make sure people are paying to use it.
You could either sell to the black market money laundry or use it as a trade with other players.

I really like this suggestion, but I would like to show my approach to this

I believe you should be able to use the PC's you can buy in game, and use them to crypto mine. They could have a UI on the PC's with a couple options such as "turn on", "turn off" and "begin mining".

Also, they should be able to work while your in-game without you having to be there present, but should not work when your out of the game. They should have to be cooled by a fan or a industrial cooler depending on the heat they would create. The PC's could go up in scales of how well they can mine and how much money they could make:

The Scale

- High end PC: Produces a lot of heat but is good at mining.

- Medium PC: Produces a decent amount of heat and is OK at mining.

- Low end PC: Produces little amounts of heat, very slow and bad at mining

- Laptop: Produces a lot of heat, OK at mining and is quite easily moveable

(They should also go in price order)

Your character should start to take damage if your house gets to hot from it, and the health of the PC's will slowly go down if its too hot (they should break if they get to hot or run out of health). The better the PC, the more expensive it should be, and the better the cooler, the more expensive it could be. Of course the money mining makes would have to be balanced out, and it would make sense for it to go straight to your bank.

This would also add another purpose to warehouses for civilians and makes property more useful.

The crypto value could also change depending on various variable's.

I feel like this could be a really cool idea to the server, and open up more paths into the technology side of LS.

Let me know what you guys think!

Not every job, or addition to script, imo, should be focused solely on "interaction" part. It is not mandatory to "interact" with other players if you don't feel like it, there is plenty enough opportunities to "interact" and I don't see how this addition, if ever added to the server, would ruin any of that. People who socialise more will continue to do, people who don't might seek help to other crypto miners for help with setup etc, creating a deep niche theme that can be RolePlayEd as nerdy or tech-smart thing, only bringing more variety to this game.
