New Job - Telecommunications maintenance!

Recommended Posts

In real live, to ensure that our phones are connected to internet and granted the opportunity to call / send sms or mms to other people, they need to be wirelessly connected to telecom equipment, such as radio communication towers.
Often there are issues with such telecommunication tower equipment, most of them are due to weather conditions, malfunctions, overheating or other issues that happen quite a lot.

In reality, modern telephones uses 2 and more standards to ensure voice / data (sms/internet/mms) communication. For voice/sms/mms mostly used is so called 3rd generation standards (3g), which, according to some continents/countries,
mostly use 700-900 MHz range, whereas internet/VoLTE (voice over LTE) communications are ensured trough 1800-2400 MHz and uses 4th generation standards (4G-LTE)

Main difference that is between these two bands (3g and 4g) is that whith lover frequency used for 3g, due to its physical nature has lover data-transmit rate, but if compared to 4g, it has greater coverage, whereas
4g has higher data transmitting rate, on the other hand its downside is less range of signal that can be successfully received/transmitted trough our phones.

This means, that each telecommunication tower or spot (in most cases) has 2 slightly different technology located on it, to ensure both 3g and 4g radio communications. Our phones cannot use same technology at the same time, that is the reason
why while you are browsing memes on internet, your telephone uses 4g ( if the signal is strong enough), and when you send SMS/MMS or call someone, it switches to 3g and call goes trough another technology, or band, to not go into more
deeper details, this is also reason why you can call 911 while cannot connect to internet to check your social media feed. ( Unless you are really far away from nearest radio tower equipment)
In most cases, telecom companies will install at least 3 sets of both 3g and 4g technology to cover 360 degree radio communication around the tower, each set of cells provide roughly 120 degree, hence 3 are needed to
fully cover surrounding area of antenna. In some cases, less or more sets can be installed, for situations where tower is located near ocean for example, since there is no need to broadcast signal into ocean, where it would
be used by 2-3 people once a few days in best scenario.

Simply speaking, each location has small ventilated booth with either optical / microwave transmitting equipment, some backup batteries, some servers for 2g/3g/4g operation and other equipment, then these are connected via optical fiber
to another set of equipment that is located on upside of tower, this equipment is ensuring that information that is connected trough glass-fiber, is converted into Radio energy,
then these boxes connect to actual antennas, that acts as Radio Signal transmitters / receivers. The small server booths on the other hand is interconnected to telecom data-centers and servers.
Most cases, when local cell-phone coverage issues arises, it is connected to equipment malfunction that occurs time-by-time on almost every location. To not go into deep technical details,
these malfunctions mostly are caused by harsh exploitation conditions - some of the equipment is under clear sky for the most time, and some parts of it doesn't survive more than 2-3 years without proper maintenance.

The idea for the job is that, there would be a radio-telecommunication job HQ located somewhere inside LS or outside of it ( doesn't matter that much )
Upon picking up the job, player would be granted service car equipped (RP'ly) with ladder, electronics components, spare parts and such for either routine maintenance of radio towers, or malfunctions to be fixed.
For routine maintenance, player do not need to take any spare parts from job HQ, since all the necessary spare parts are located into service car, but in case there is a heavy malfunctions, player would require to load
spare parts, such as spare antennas into the car ( car would have room for 3-6 antennas, loading each antenna into car would require to put some CMD and it would take around 30-60 seconds to do )

When player picks car from job HQ and either loads or doesn't loads spare parts into car, he puts some cmd into chat ( /mobile faults for example ) and it shows in small dialog some places that require service.
Ideally, there would be 3-5 radio towers randomly set around whole map that requires routine maintenance, and 1-2 radio towers that required heavy repair such as putting new antennas and removing old ones.

It would also make sense, that routine maintenance is quicker, but paying less and full maintenance takes more time to switch broken equipment and pays better buck.

P.S. This is first revision of such job idea, I just put some ground ideas, If i come up with other ideas, they will be updated in this same tread.
I know this will probably be a night-mare for coders and developers, so please leave your ideas ( if any ) below, any input is warmly appreciated!
