Shares in companies.

Just a thought.

Maybe add the ability to purchase shares in large government companies?

LSC, Bayview, DCC and the like.

People are able to purchase shares in these government companies as a small passive income.

If the player does own shares, then their hourly Government payment increases a little.

The more shares they own, the higher their hourly payment.

Obviously there should be a limit on the amount they can earn per hour (say maximum 8k per hour, but they gotta own a large amount of shares)

An extra $100 per hour, per share.

Maybe add some sort of mini jon, where they have to go get some paperwork from the business where their shares were bought from, thus increasing activity at that specific venue, and increasing rp.

Also offer the option to some of the player owned businesses such as gas stations, general stores, Arcadius, Assured Services and so on. The player who owns the business should maybe apply for a license from gov to enable them to do this.

It would help players boost their earning for new startups in the city, and in return, pay their friends back for their support whom have bought shares from them?

Gonna throw in a -1 for this for now with some ideas of my own.

I do believe there should be a scripted way to partially own companies, but not government funded ones.  RPly, it would make no sense for a Government funded business to also be able to have shareholders.  Shareholders are involved in company earnings calls, company decisions, and that would make no sense for things funded by a Government.

Passive income is something I'm a bit against in general, as I can foresee players standing in an apartment complex for hours on end with no intentions to RP just so they can collect an inflated salary because they've bought some shares in a Government funded company.

However, I'd like to see private scripted businesses have the option for multiple people to have an ownership stake (gas stations, gun stores, general stores, etc).

  • % of ownership can be set by the majority stakeholder, and payouts occur automatically when money is withdrawn from the treasury.
    • Example.  If I own 75% of a Gas Station, John Doe own 15%, and Jane Smith owns the remaining 10%.  I would set those percentages in the business's Manage Menu.
      • I withdraw 100K from the treasury (not factoring in taxation to this).
        • 75K automatically goes to me.
        • 15K automatically goes to John Doe
        • 10K automatically goes to Jane Smith.

I'd personally like to see some sort of a stock market come into play in the server where players could invest in companies not run by anyway (Burgershot, Fleeca Bank, Clothing Stores, etc.), but I feel like that would turn into a rich get richer type scenario and throw off the economy balance even further.

I understand your point in posting this was to help newer players make money a little faster, but investing into businesses is generally something that someone with more established wealth & savings has the ability to do.

I think you've vastly underestimating the complexity of Eclipse's economy and how this idea would be implemented. Even loan companies still operate under simple interest and nothing more. -1, would be nice but far too difficult to implement for the benefit it would provide.

You can still draft this IC of course but I don't think script support is appropriate for this.
