MONTHLY NEWSLETTER - JULY 2024

Welcome to the July edition of the ECLIPSE Roleplay monthly newsletter! Our goal with this newsletter is to give players a better look into our current focuses, recent changes, and a sneak-peek into upcoming developments.

UPCOMING DEVELOPMENTS

From time to time, we like to throw in some of our future plans for the server. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the cool stuff being worked on.

Clothing Update

The long-awaited clothing update is ready to go THIS WEEK!!! You can expect a full overhaul of the existing clothing system. This will come with a fully revamped clothing store UI, properly available undershirts, correct names and icons for clothing in your inventory, and more!

Here’s a couple of pictures as an appetizer.

Leveling System

Leveling your character is coming to ECRP. In its current state, we plan to have an exponential leveling curve that unlocks new rewards, tools, and ways to do certain jobs. For example, leveling up your fishing could allow you to access new types of fishing rods, fishing in the ocean from a boat, different areas to fish, and the ability to catch larger, more valuable fish.

The screenshot below should give you a general idea of the plans. Keep in mind that none of the content in this screenshot is finalized and is still a work in progress.

Group Jobs

Another feature currently in development is a rework of multiple freelance jobs to allow friends to do the work together. Currently, includes the courier job and garbage collection, but more are in the works. For jobs like the garbage collector, this means you could have some of your boys hanging off the back to sling the trash while you drive around.

FACTION MANAGEMENT 2.0

Following years of feedback and multiple community meetings, FM 2.0 is finally here. As of the 13th of July, FM 2.0 has launched in full swing. With this launch comes a full rework of the old official faction system. There is a lot to talk about, so this will be a brief overview. You can review the full scope of these changes on this post or in the announcements channel of our Discord server.

One of the biggest changes with FM 2.0 is the removal of the old Official Faction System. Moving forward, players will be able to gain F4 status without having to go through a several month process. With this addition, the faction tiers system has been revamped. Each tier will gain your faction unique privileges and perks like weapons, custom clothing, and properties. Check out the full tier list here.

If you’re a civilian-type faction or wish to pursue one moving forward, that side of things has been moved underneath Legal Faction Management’s responsibility. In doing so, it will also be receiving a rework. Their current timeline for release is unknown, but we look forward to seeing what they bring to the table!

Players who are encouraged to start their factions by this update and those with existing factions may also participate in a competition lasting until July 31st. This competition will be judged on the thread’s ability to display originality and hard work using the newly created guidelines. The three best faction threads will be rewarded with an unconditional tier promotion.

the group jobs is a very smart idea, working together and creating a community that connects with each other is exactly why we game, connection and belongingness.
i had made suggestion around this years ago, and I'm happy to see this flourish.

the level system is also one of those topics, very well done devs, I'm loving this already

The job leveling is one of the greatest ideas. Many people want to play the server as a legal civ and still be able to make good money in the process. There aren't many ways to make the same kind of money you'd make doing illegal jobs of course. This is something that disappoints newer players when they see the price of cars and houses and realize normal jobs wont cut it. I'm referring to the non whitelist jobs of course.

I think it would be a great idea to add a slight pay increase to every job level.. for example, after completing so many postal deliveries, you reach level 2 and now you make an extra 5% on delivery jobs. Every new level you get to, you get an additional 5%. I think this is a good idea because it gives more incentive to sticking to one job and making a "career" out of it.

Also, when people first join the server and are looking to start making money, they immediately go for the job that makes the most money and not necessarily something that aligns with their RP goals or story line.

If the jobs were more closely aligned as far as base pay goes, people will pick the jobs they WANT to do based on their RP desires or what they enjoy the most versus what pays them best. adding the 5% pay increase will give players motivation and incentive to keep grinding the job because the benefits they will receive at the new levels. I think this will balance things out across all the non whitelisted jobs and perhaps you will start seeing more people fishing at the pier again or more people cutting lumber...etc. versus just shooting for the best paying job....  Either way I think this update will be dope regardless

i think re investing your profits you made from the job is even better, good example is buying better fishing rods, and buying a boat to fish deeper at see getting better fish,
making your payout better, is making people really putting in the work and time.
making it somehow scaleable

I hope they will also making in such a way that you have to "upkeep" your level of skill/career
so you could switch careers over time when they feel like it, and to make people log in more to upkeep and maintain the skill. thus creating more movement and RP in the server.
else I fear, that in the next 2 years everyone will have skilled everything to the max level, and so people expecting you to be maxed on everything, making the gap between new and old players in the city, bigger,

I'm looking forward to this, like really excited
