  6. There should be more for all criminals for sure. @ShawnsBeard and I have talked about house robberies as sort of a Duos activity, where you could rob a scripted house at night and get small things like cash piles, jewelry to sell to a pawn shop, maybe even find small firearms like Pistols and SNS pistols. All of this in the consideration for new-player criminals or players who have a small group of friends/not interested in joining official factions. This is more of Shawn's idea, so definitely for a different post and time, but if this was implemented, then a unique scripted job for each individual official faction, we'd have a really solid progression in crime, starting at house robberies when you're new, moving on the store robberies when you're established, then on to banks when you're a professional. In between it all would be gun sales, drug cooking, car chopping, etc.
  7. I agree, there are currently a few options for money making for criminals. As I said in the original post, most of these activities require other players and still remain as good RP and good money, but there needs to be something in-between it all. There is a lot of downtime in our RP. Drug cooking on the other hand is painstakingly boring, time consuming, and way too high of a risk for the comfort of a lot of players, considering the amount of money that needs to be invested in a lab and the very likely possibility of the lab exploding. Personally, I don't think drug cooking is good RP as it's usually done alone. If things go awry, losing the equipment feels more like an OOC punishment than an IC punishment because of the amount of time and in-game money it takes to set one of these up. Cooking inside one of the northern labs is in no way a realistic payout with how long each drug takes and there only being two tables available. The northern drug labs, OOCly, are the place for PvP, as dictated by the rules: short term conflicts exist in labs, meaning if you're interested in PvP OOCly, these spots are the best place to do it rather than picking a gunfight at the pier or some other location that doesn't make sense RPly. So, I have no issues if people decide to hold a lab with good IC reason and plan to get in to shootouts. As far as the civilian jobs and the idea of not being able to be robbed is mixing. You should not be working a civilian job and thinking ICly "I cannot be robbed right now." That is ruleplay, not roleplay. Robberies doing activities like these can still happen as long as it's within the rules with risk/reward; they can even happen at your own discretion. As previously stated, I am apart of a high class criminal organization. Any of our members working civilian jobs such as any stated above still does not make sense ICly. If my character is a millionaire, there are few reasons why I would ever be caught driving a bus, taxi, garbage or money truck. Chop shops are out of the question for me ICly.
  8. Howdy! I think it would be super dope if there were scripted jobs for members of Official Criminal Factions. First, this would allow players who have chosen criminal roleplay to make consistent wages. Payment for criminal activity, at times, strongly relies on other players; whether it be gun sales, drug equipment sales, police population for banks, or store robbing. All of these being great roleplay scenarios, but not occurring enough to consistently provide a "job" to the player, considering the potential competitions and conflicts you may or may not have with other criminal organizations or law enforcement. Just to clarify: consistency is important, not amount earned, meaning these jobs do not necessarily have to be high payment, but just always accessible. Next, this idea would offer more for the player to do when the above work isn't available along with allowing them to benefit their turfs as an individual. Something as simple as an Illegal Weapon Delivery Driver, where the player would pickup a package from an NPC, deliver it to an address, then receive packaged money, allowing them to earn influence for their turfs and receive a payment. Although it would be scripted, the delivery package would still be able to RPly be searched by law enforcement to discover its illegal contents. This idea could be expanded upon tremendously, allowing the Laptop item to be used as an interface to access this work, possible implementation of scrap vehicles as the preferred transportation, or something as simple as making a new area on the map a hot zone for player interaction. I think Crim desperately needs something as an in-between activity amongst the sporadic timeline of criminality. Most importantly, this will immerse the player significantly. A lot of criminal players result to working a civilian job because of their payouts; bus driver, garbage trucking, and for the more long term: mechanics, reporters, and cab drivers. Using my own roleplay as an example, my character is a very wealthy, sociable, gun salesman, bank robber, and an Italian Food enthusiast. He has multiple properties, vehicles, and many weapons, but sometimes his preferred work isn't available. ICly, it wouldn't make sense for him to be driving a garbage truck around, picking up bags of trash, as that is seen as blue collar/middle class work. It would make way more sense for him to be doing favors for the Turf NPCs as opposed to getting ignorantly hired by the Money Trucking service, once again, just for him to quit a couple of hours later to go rob a bank. Implementing any or all of this could greatly increase the quality of life for criminal faction members as well as give non-faction players another perk to look forward to when considering joining an official faction. I'm going to continue to brainstorm this and may edit or add to this, so please bear with me! If you have any ideas yourself, please post them below. Please remember, this is only a suggestion, aimed to conduct productive discussion among all players who are interested in doing so... aka don't put me on blast if you don't like this. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Love, Frankie

The Contender Contention ..We pulled into Vlad's driveway. He had an arrangement; a sale. Nothing out of the ordinary. Vlad ran inside his place as I relaxed in the truck. I pulled out my necklace, hit the pipe that was attached to it, and rolled down the window. I exhaled a large tetrahydrocannabinol cloud of smoke and as that cloud dissipated, I saw a man crouching along the corner of Vlad's building. "How high am I?" I thought. The man was dressed in black, masked up, and holding a pistol in his left hand, with his right guiding him along the building. After a few moments of disbelief, we locked eyes, and he took off. I radioed in the occurrence, instructing Vlad to remain where he was. The rest of us on the frequency made their way over as precautionary backup. A Mesa 4x4 pulled into the driveway, parking next to me in Vlad's Contender. He rolled down his window. "Zade, is that you?" He asked. I shook my head "You mean Zane?" I replied. "Yea, Zane." "No." "He's helping me become one of you." He said, confidently. "Who are you?" I asked. "Guka Galdavadze." I shrugged. "What about you?" He asked, fishing for information. I hesitated. "Frankie." Vlad was clear. This Guka guy wasn't here to fuck with us. He's just an idiot. Vlad came out. He hopped in the truck with his guns and we all pulled out of his driveway going separate ways...

  14. Falling Apart/Clean Up Crew The Union was doing great. Jimmy and I actually did something right, with the help from Shawn, Lucas, Tony, Zac(?), Nick, Vlad, Aaran, and Spade. Let’s be honest, it was a group effort for sure, but hey, success is success. We lost a couple of those guys here and there, but the main core of our business stuck around, regardless of whether or not The Workers Union was “booming”. We got some funds raised from the top 1% of the town and we were steady. Ever since we got our connections, the business started sliding downhill. It was like an oiled up bowling ball on top of an icy hill, and we just couldn’t regain the friction to climb back up. We all started focusing on illegalities, rather than continuing the good path that The Union was on. Like I said, we lost a couple of guys here and there, but I didn’t think to lose Nick the way we did, just given our strong friendship. I was pretty blindsided by it, I'm not gonna lie. There I was, stumped with wondering how to save the business and I’m being told by one of my top Managers that he’s resigning and moving into the Police Department. A fucking pig? Really? After all the shit we’ve done? Fuck, I sold him guns. He sold those guns. We killed people. And he joined the Police? There was only one thing we could do. Nick had to go. We couldn’t just continue doing what we were doing with some dude in PD knowing all the shit we’re not supposed to be doing. I had a plan. Nick had one of The Union’s Mules. My Mule. So, naturally, I would want that back, yeah? I arranged a meeting with him to retrieve the Mule back. I arranged with the boys how we would do it: I get Nick to bring the Mule to our used-to-be office; oh yeah, we lost the office, by the way. I’d have him give me the paperwork and keys back from the Mule, then we’d bring him in the office, tie him up, and get rid of the little piggy. Where would we bring him? Well, the hotspot for [REDACTED] is over at the dam near Mirror Park. That’s where we used to throw bodies off all the time, so, we might as well add another to the pile. Everything went according to plan. Nick hit every beat we expected him to, just like the predictable little piggy he is. We tied him up, stuffed him in the back of my Novak, put a rag in his mouth and brought him down to the dam. At this point, I didn’t feel like I was about to kill my friend. I just felt like I was cleaning up a mess, just like I would do back in New York. I gave the guy a couple of last words and all he could mutter was “Tell my family I love them." We didn't. And "This is fucked up.” I threw his legs over the railing, over-looking the stream passing through the dam and we watched him fall. I've been thinking about those words every so often. I just think that was a shitty choice in last words. He coulda gone out with some wise shit, but predictable like a pig, he said what he said. (( Love ya, Nick. good luck at PD, homie. ))

  19. (( All Below Information is OOC )) “The story of The Workers Union isn’t very black and white. It’s comprehensible, but it doesn’t just start with the organization coming out of nowhere. No, it was a long time coming and it started in a little business back in Brooklyn called “Valalero’s”, an Italian restaurant known for its excellence in cuisine and more specifically, its pasta; and even more specific: their spaghetti. I was a bus boy there growing up. I started there when I was eleven. I hated it, but it beat school. My father was convinced that I would learn more with him than I would ever learn in any educational institution. He always said “a penny saved is a penny stolen”. I never really knew what that meant. The older I got, the more transparent the restaurant became. A front. Although it had its popularity, the business was the smaller denominator in cash flow that was being brought into the family, but it helped keep me and my siblings clothed, fed, and it bought my mother a Mercedes. So, we were happy. The years kept passing and the family grew bigger. We had Tony Montanegro, Manny Tucci, Alfonzo Vennidicci; all of whom I called my uncles, but they were the furthest from being blood to me. They were all just wise guy guineas, doing what they could get away with, all of which was masterminded by my father, Frank. The Don. I grew up a little and at seventeen I started doing small tasks for the guys. I would pick up dry cleaning, drop off some envelopes, and lock the door to the restaurant if need be. I never really saw what was going on downstairs but it’s easy to guess. I knew what was going on and for whatever reason, I was okay with it. I guess, because everyone else was so comfortable with it, it just felt normal. Everyone felt comfortable with what they were doing behind the restaurant’s walls. That comfort was exactly what got the best of them twenty-six years later. We don’t like to talk about it. I arrived to Los Santos, fleeing from the “cleaning” business, hoping I could take what I’ve learned from my family and apply it to some low-key work in and out of the city, but it wasn’t that simple. No one knew me and I knew no one. At least I blended in. The first small couple of idiots I started working with, Carl Larson and Bobby Pins, just weren’t fulfilling what I called “business”. That’s when I sought out some more organized group work. I saw these guys walking around the city always dressed nice, wearing black suits, and covering their faces with black bandannas. In these instances, I always judged a book by its cover, so I went up to one of them and asked them if they were hiring. Unfortunately, these kinds of guys don’t like to admit to the stuff they do. I don’t blame them. Eventually, after some active poking about working with them, I rolled up on a group of The Rooks hanging outside of the Department of Corrections. “I don’t mean any harm or nothing, but I’ve been trying to work for you guys some time now.” I said as I pulled up and hopped out of my hideous brick red Granger. This was way back before my vocal surgery, but that’s another story. The leader pat me down, checked my pockets, frisked me for wires, and found me strange, but not malicious. It’s not every day a guy comes running up to a bunch of criminals, excited, in hopes to work with them, but I missed home; and home I couldn’t go back to. Crime is all I knew. After some time, The Rooks took me in as an associate and I started learning the ways of crime in the city. Cooking up drugs, robbing stores, shaking people down; all of it. I was having a blast. I felt like a kid again. All this hard work led up to me becoming a Baron of the gang. We had our good times and we had our bad times, but mostly the bad times would lead to overwhelming us and ended up delivering our demise. That’s the abridged version. At this point in time, I was ready to move on and start arranging my own work. I knew enough people, knew how to swing the ropes, and knew how to get it done. I don’t like to call my organization a “gang”, but it is what it is. Everyone understands the point of running an organization: MONEY. It’s all about collecting some cash for doing some hard work. My guys are the hardest workers in town and I pride myself on that. Maybe we get a little too greedy at the poker table, but there’s no greater feeling than bankrupting a city simpleton. There’s some ground rules I had to place before starting The Workers Union. First off, everyone has a say. If you’re in the union, then you have a vote... As long as you’re attending our weekly meetings. If there’s an issue within the organization, it needs to be brought to attention and voted on. Majority rules. Secondly, transparency with all other organizations in town. No pretending like you aren’t who you are. If you’re with The Union, you represent The Union wherever you are. Except with the pigs. Gut them when you have the chance. I’m in the middle of arranging relationships with every legal and illegal organization in town. My plan is to introduce myself, show them my face, pass out numbers, and make it clear that me and my guys mean no harm. We’re out here to work, not to start drama. That being said, my guys understand that business is business and we’ll step out of the way when need be. This doesn’t mean we won’t defend ourselves. It’s a respect thing. Thirdly, The Worker’s Union is a no-strings-attached organization. If you’re with us, good. If you’re not, that’s fine too. The Union doesn’t benefit itself. The Union benefits you. “A penny saved, is a penny stolen.” “ -Frankie Valalero

  21. Introduction: So, many of us already know about working as a shore angler by picking up a rod from a local shop and heading on over to the shoreline and casting it in the ocean in hopes to make some money from a few hours of fishing. It’s a fairly simple job since you just sort of cast in and wait until a fish bites, reel it in, then repeat, excluding having to move a few times here and there and taking the ride over to the fish drop off. Fishing isn’t amazing money, but during my character, Doug Havers’ first couple of weeks on the server, this is what I used to make myself money being that it was almost an AFK kind of job and knowing I would most likely not be bothered due to the plethora of spots I could pick. So, grindy, but doable and somewhat relaxing. We’re seeing less and less civilians taking neutral standing jobs, meaning non-gang and non-government jobs. It seems if you want to be successful in the city, you do one of those two, but taking a neutral job, it’s slow and boring. No one wants to deliver money to ATMs all day. No one wants to deliver packages all day. No one wants to dump garbage. All of these need adjustments. I don’t have an answer for all of them, but I do have some ideas for fishing, at least. Context: The beach is empty. It’s so awkward to roll up on patrol as a lifeguard and see towels, umbrellas, radios, and campfires everywhere, but no people. So it begs to question: how can we make people want to go to the beach more? It has to be something worth their time. Below is a suggestion as an effort to make fishing not only a fun job, but something worth working. If this suggestion gets approved, this won’t only do the previous stated, but it will open up a lot of great RP opportunities, give the Lifeguard Division a reason to patrol, as well as the possibility of a coast guard branch, if it’s something PD would be interested in doing. Alongside that, it will open up boat and Seashark rentals and boat storage. If there’s any clarification needed for any of the sections needed in this segment, please reply below and I will make an edit. Any other questions, post a reply and I’ll do my best to give you an answer. If you support this idea, please reply and let it be known. Idea: I would like to restrict shore angling to the Vespucci Beach area. Being, right now, that you can shore angle wherever there’s water; it really allows people to fish, spread out, with little chance of having any RP interactions. Doing this would confine people into a specific area for fishing, much like hunting. It would also be a little more realistic to the idea of fishing as a job if we require all fishers to obtain a license in order to fish at the beach. This would obviously be a short application process, requiring basic information from the applicant as well as their intention in fishing; what kind of fish they’re looking to catch (ICly). The license could be distributed by the lifeguard division after review and could have the same mechanic applied as it does with receiving a firearms license after approval over at PD. With the above idea applied, I would like to provide “hot zones” in the ocean for higher chance at catching fish. Another player suggested three zones, where, the farther out you go: the higher the chance in receiving fish. To piggyback off of that: In order to get to these fishing “hot zones”, you would obviously need a boat. This begs to question whether or not a boat should be provided by a job location that could be placed on the pier and pickup below the pier OR a boat would need to be obtained by the worker(s). A mix of the two could possible work. If you have a boat, you can just use it to go out there, but if you rent a boat, it charges you a flat price (rough idea). To provide some values to these “hot zones”: Zone 1 would have a 10% increase in catch rate, Zone 2 would have a 20% increase, and Zone 3 would be a 30% increase. Basically, the farther out you are, the more dangerous. Obviously, these numbers are for example. This idea the biggest thing I’m presenting being that it may not be doable within RAGE multiplayer. I’m unaware of the work that would go into that, but a lot these things I’m suggesting are reuse of mechanics that are already available on the server. If a boat rental is introduced, this could also be an opportunity for Seasharks being able to be rented out for a flat price. On top of that, this could open up boat storage, which seems to be missing, but I may be incorrect. This could work just like the garage in center city. You pull your boat up to a "hotspot", /dock, then the boat gets stored for $500. One thing that should be adjusted is breath length. It takes an insignificant amount of time for someone to die of oxygen loss. The meter that is implemented is inaccurate to actual ability of breath holding and sort of robs people of their lives being that you have little to no time to surface when going under water. With any of my previous stated ideas implemented, this will definitely need to be increased. Conclusion: So, this would open up to a more active shoreline. On the government side of things, MD would then have a reason to have a more active lifeguard force and PD would be able to start a coast guard division on their own terms. On the crime side, this could influence ocean piracy. Criminals could use boats to rob unequipped fishers. Generally, people could have something new to do and have a reason to even own a boat besides driving it around the coastline. This could also influence individual charter businesses that would charge citizens a flat rate to take them out on their boat. There’s a lot of possibilities out of all of this. The main questions: Is it doable? Would it work? How long would it take? Would people even want this? This isn’t something where I’m the only one who wants it, I hope. If this sounds like something you’d like to have a part of Eclipse, please reply below and let it be known.
