The suggestion in itself would give you an item that would circumvent a rule. Having a method of permanently removing a serial number blatantly goes against an already established rule in the server which falls under Powergaming. I believe nothing should be implemented that easily gives players the ability to influence future RP for an unlimited amount of time. People are already free to re-RP filing the serial number off a gun every 48 hours (should their character not have died and NLR triggered). Also OP mentioned tracing a gun IC does not match IRL and I commented on the need for flexibility in things like this due to ECRP still being a game.

My -1 still stands. If you want to remove a serial number, do it RPly every 48 hours and keep time stamped evidence.

Typically the filing is done by the seller to protect themselves from being caught reselling legal weapons purchased with firearms licenses. Once they are filed, they are then sold. Because of this, they don't have the gun anymore to continue filing every 48 hours.

For this to be a viable option, there would have to be a secondary way to track the firearm (there may already be, I'm not sure). This needs to be in place to track rule breakers (people giving legally purchased firearms to their alts).

  2. Let me preface by stating that I do not play poker IG (I do however have quite a bit of experience ooc). So I don't know if at the end of the hand all hands are shown or not, but if they are.....

Folded hands should never be shown. When someone mucks their cards (discards them by folding), they go back into the pile. Nobody but the one who had them is supposed to know what they were.

He's right on this one. As mentioned, if you fold before the river and you were bluffing. Everyone gets to see that you were bluffing, even though you folded your cards. It's not how Texas Hold 'Em is played. Texas Hold Em is as much about outplaying and/or using misinformation against the other people at the table as it is getting a good hand.

  3. Just to be clear, this is not something I ruled on persay. There was an announcement made June 10th which includes the following statement.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Carrying bodies & Powergaming

We'd like to inform the community that it is considered power gaming to be randomly or without RP, picking up the body of an injured player. You have to role-play properly with injured players using /me and /do. This is not a new rule, it's only something that seems to have slipped through the cracks for the majority of our players.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is not a new rule, and was in place well before I was ever a mod.

If you'd like to read the announcement, I will link to it below.

  4. Let me preface this by saying we used to have a rule against scamming in NCZ. It was taken out, I believe, because there should be risk to circumventing the scripts.

As far as OOC scamming, it's already a rule. OOCly scamming is not allowed, and theft from new players is not allowed. Perfect example can be found below.

As far as scamming not happening in real life when buying cars. If you spend a couple days on Craigslist trying to purchase a vehicle here in the U.S. You will realize that there are more scammers than you can shake a stick at trying to sell fake cars, cars they don't own, cars that have to be shipped from overseas, cars that are in storage containers. You name it, and you'll find one of them on Craigslist.

Lastly you can RP selling your car at high end, just like you can RP selling it at the bank. It is no different other than using the script to do so. If you want to argue for more slots at high-end, I'm all for it.

Like it or not, IC scamming is still RP.
