Frankly put, you can't always get what you want, and just because you weren't given the opportunity to spend an hour with a hostage does not make it indicative of poor roleplay standards. The fact is that no one gets a one-hundred percent say in how their scenarios play out. The second it is initiated, you are no longer in full control and you're on a dynamic playing field. If you have a hostage, your risk is assessed by law enforcement or other participants, and you either get the opportunity to have a lengthy dialogue or you get incapacitated based on an assessment made by players roleplaying as specialized units.

In that same vein, an officer initiating a traffic stop or an arrest can either have it go smoothly with a dialogue or get shot and wind up dead. I can't imagine all illegal roleplayers would be very satisfied if I then went to make a forum thread or went on an existing one and said "I imagine it was [random name] that made the call to shoot", that person then tells me it's not the case, and I say "haha, you're focusing on an accusation I directed at a very specific person and correcting me, this is what is wrong with criminals".

If you didn't want the focus to be on the misinformation that you decided to spread publicly, then you should have fact-checked before posting. Someone defending themselves and correcting incorrect information that you have shared painting them in a bad light are not ignoring the problem at hand, and it is most certainly not representative of the entire faction.  The fact that you're willing to throw such broad-brush statements around with a lack of self-awareness shows me that there would be no proper debate and only finger-pointing with an added flavor of "PD bad" here.

I'm very open to feedback on my faction. I can't speak for Osborn, but I'm certain he's very open to feedback on his faction. Yes, we enforce strict realism internally as far as internal portrayal goes, but I'm not going to make an enormous statement that we're "the highest standard". We establish and maintain standards and impose these on all members, but there are also criminal groups that do this. I firmly believe everyone has room for improvement, PD included, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll only listen to anyone who has the decency to care for both sides and does not just want to point fingers or brush a group of 100 players as "bad" because of someone defending themselves, and anyone who isn't being plain libelous.

It's frustrating that there may be people with solid and properly presented and substantiated concerns, arguments, and/or feedback that get buried in topics taken over by others who want to point fingers and call others bad instead of having a healthy debate, or even bury their own contributive points by going off the deep end.

My mother asked me how come I'm starting to get gray hairs, I ought to tell her it may be because of the seventeen "PD bad" topics every day. I have a new episode of Ahsoka to watch, ta x

I'll quote this and lock the thread as petty arguments have already started after this response.

If you have any issues with anything LSPD related, I offer an open-door policy as does Pazz. Our discords are @mrsilky and @zaeria. Or you are more than welcome to file an IC or OOC internal-affairs complaint here.

For suggestions, you are more than welcome to make them on the forum to get community feedback, but the moment you start painting an entire faction with the same brush and slander individual members, you lose all credibility.

  2. Hey there.

This was discussed amongst senior staff and was ruled to be allowed for gov factions (with access to them) to use while injured as long as other rules such as Fear-RP are being respected.

Unfortunately, open radio communications for all players (gov factions included) was and will remain scriptly disabled due to the poor standards displayed by many players treating a shootout like a competitive CS:GO tournament and making unrealistic cod-lobby call-outs while RPly critically injured.

I will be making an OOC IA report when I am back,

also I did play as an a LEO for multiple months , it changed my perspectives in many positive ways , but also many negative ways when witnessing certain things internally, and I wasn’t talking about 2018 as the entire server did change since then, that was my first PD employment, I’ve had more recent ones.

it may seem like it’s based on one situation but it isn’t, some people with “play to win mentality” have it contagious; when a cadet or PO I sees higher ranks act a certain way they pick it up, and the good role players within the faction (LEA) get treated unfairly because players tend to expect their behavior to match that of others’ which creates a cycle of mutual reactions… to me being arrested is no different than a random house alarm trigger in terms of a (shit happens, it is what it is) I just think there needs to be a level of cracking down on members with P2W mentality (worse than clap mentality imo) and maybe a higher standard to join and more RP tests [it’s currently mostly verbal] (5000xp is nothing) for a high tier - all powerful faction , when high tier gangs require usually 50,000-75,000 xp which accounts for more learning , more humbling (you take L’s and you learn and adapt and it becomes a natural part of your game) in the end of the day I want every person’s experience on the server to be the best it could possibly be

Here you go, Kylar. I also welcome you to voice your concerns to IA about the “certain things internally” that you state you witnessed in your lengthy tenure in the faction. Consider this permission to deviate from the 7 day rule and I look forward to reviewing the evidence/statements you present via appropriate methods over slanderous comments in PMs to other faction members/on the forums with baseless accusations.

ok, in which case I'll report to Gov I guess each time it happens, hopefully it will yield change!

Reporting to GOV will yield nothing other than potential discourse between the factions without context of investigation which will not result in any meaningful outcome. The best thing to do is to raise an IC or OOC complaint via the relevant faction so it can be dealt with based on their policy and investigated. Should you then disagree with the outcome of the complaint, you would then have ammunition for meaningful dialogue with GOV should you wish to do so. Jumping the ladder right away would yield adverse outcomes.

  5. Perhaps with the weapon update, there will be more viable automatic options for the LEO factions to use. At this time, they will remain as they are the only automatic weapons scriptly available to these factions that serve the intended purpose. The usage of the weapons is heavily restricted in these factions and if you see misuse, I strongly urge you to file an IA complaint (IC or OOCly) or a forum report if you feel a rule was breached.

But just to comment on the realism side of the argument:

This is real, but will not be considered due to balancing and gameplay.

  6. Date and time (provide timezone): 01/05/2023

    Character name: Roberto_Sanchez

Issue/bug you are reporting: House randomly triggers alarm when no noise is made and all is followed correctly. I’ve heard unconfirmed whispers about houses randomly triggering on entry but this was not my situation. I was in, house alarm off, maintained being quiet, house triggered.

Looking for clarification on if this is intended behaviour, as it seems off given that it’s a skill based mini game. I understand potential random triggers on initial entry to mitigate “mastering” the activity and being risk free, but random triggers through a successful robbery should not be a thing.

Expected behavior:  House should not trigger alarm randomly during a robbery unless noise is made.

Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate

  7. Most people in legal jobs join the server for that legal job only. I see zero value in limiting what a player can do with their time. It is not appropriate for us to police how much a player plays - we are not their parents.

Most legal players aren’t in it for the salary, it’s the immersion of the job. For these players, this suggestion would be comparable to telling a civilian that they can’t hang out with their friends for more than X amount of time per week.

I'm gunna be that guy in this thread I suppose....

Crims just got their biggest method of making money effectively taken out from underneath them, and we're suggesting that LEOS get paid MORE? No cap Bala, This ain't it.

Given the fact Crims have to work WAY harder to make their money, and at times PD/SD/DOC/MD/GOV are just Driving sims or Salary farming jobs, Increasing their pay for effectively doing nothing is a good way to piss off the majority of the community.

Please don't turn this into a cop vs crim thread - this is a Gov faction salary cap (which hasn't changed in almost 3 years even though the economy has inflated) discussion.

If you want to discuss buffing criminal activities, go ahead - but not here.
