Trevor Zelias Posted January 1, 2022 Report Posted January 1, 2022 The update for the DM things is great but I feel some rules are still too hard punishing for some people that might not FULLY FULLY know about them here is one example. So a question about server advertisement. Some people have made a small mistake and just said the most popular one for the streamers. And I can almost put $100 that 99% of all will not even come close to get on there. Why do they get banned for mentioning the thing that most likely brought them to Eclipse. Same goes for some people that dont fully understand the server advertisement rule to 100%. And just mistakenly mentions one. I do feel like that rule have always been too harsh, giving someone a insta-ban/perma is just not good for Eclipse. What you could do is mayne warn. Or ban them for a week. I know you MIGHT be able to apply for unban but some people dont know what to write or say. This rule is easily broken and is mostly not intentional to be broken. So please do look over the length on it and maybe actually give them a fair warning such as 1-2 week ban. With a put date on it. Or make a new system where you can just write /warnaccount. And if they login they get general info on the problem they did and have to Agree to it and write something small ingame to get it removed like the whitelist application. Also why I say it is in a grey area is because we can openly talk about NGRP. Which is a server many have played from 2009 to 2017. And you dont get any kind of warning. There are talks about it in the discord, forums and ingame. I know Nick, Kris, Lewis, Percival and many many more from here that talks about it sometimes. So just hoping that you can look over this one and get a better punishment system for it. (This is a response I wrote to new rule update from Osborn and got it re-sent to me from him. So I copied what I wrote so if it looks weird read that thread first. https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/topic/98503-introducing-a-change-to-our-punishment-system-recognizing-old-punishments/#comment-371145 ) 1
Trevor Zelias Posted January 12, 2022 Author Report Posted January 12, 2022 Bumping a bit I wanna see peoples thoughts on this.
Bala Posted January 12, 2022 Report Posted January 12, 2022 It's just about using your loaf really. Everyone knows that servers like GTA World or No Pixel exist, you aren't going to get into trouble for just saying the name of a server. What does tend to cross the line is when you start negatively comparing Eclipse to them i.e. "such and such is better than Eclipse" and definitely stuff along the lines of suggesting people try other RAGE-MP servers. In the case of FiveM or SA:MP, they are different mods/games. No competition for Eclipse whatsoever. There are a number of people that came from NGG. Me and a few others came from Valhalla when it comes to SA:MP. Just don't really talk about RAGE-MP voice servers or start suggesting people play those servers and I think you're good.

Ranger Posted March 29, 2023 Report Posted March 29, 2023 Hello, Staff are diligent with reports that surround this topic, and we ensure that we are being fair when speaking to players about said rulebreak, as what you stated can be true most of the time, where a player may not mean any harm when mentioning another server. An example of how it could be handled follows; Player A pm's Player B talking about another server and a staff member comes across this. The staff member will speak to the player, informing them of the rule, and continuing on with their day. Unless there is malicious intent on advertising another server, there are very few cases where players have inadvertently "advertised" and have been full-on punished for doing so. To comment on the NGRP point - SA:MP (as a platform) is not a competitor, so there are generally no issues with speaking about it as most of the older players within our community used to play on SA:MP servers. No change is needed surrounding this as we do not feel it is a large-scale enough of an issue that we come across where we need to offer more leniency. If a player you run into speaks about another server, the best course of action is to teach them about the rule! Archived.
