Jewcifer Posted August 10, 2020 Report Posted August 10, 2020 Currently there is no barrier between the cops and getting sent to jail. Essentially whatever a cop says you've done, no matter what actually happened, you've done. The other day I got arrested on charges I disagreed with. When I denied those charges, the officer got mad and started tacking on additional charges and gave me a felony charge. The officer had no proof of what he was saying I did, yet, because he's an officer he charged me anyway. There wasn't any middleman or judge to determine if I was guilty or innocent, just what he said and the punishment to follow. That needs to change. Having a felony easily rules out all government jobs for IC players. There needs to be some sort of system where you can challenge or defend yourself. Whatever the cops say you did shouldn't be the end of it. Their rights even read, "you have the right to an attorney." Why even read the miranda rights if you're just going to jail anyway? In real life, without any evidence a case like that would be thrown out faster than the cop could write a report on it. This is supposed to be a realistic server; having cops be able to convict you of crimes just because they say so isn't fair to the rest of the playerbase whatsoever. Yes, they should be able to observe, report, arrest, etc, but under no circumstances should they be Judge and Jury. In my opinion, the cop made up the additional allegations because he couldn't prove his first allegation. From what I've heard, I'm not the only one this has happened to either. Without any checks and balances, just like in real life, people become power hungry and ruin experiences for other people just because they can. Something needs to change. TL:DR there needs to be some sort of justice system implemented for players to defend themselves against any and all allegations.
