Possibly some quality of life suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hi! I had some suggestions that I enjoyed from SA:MP. I had well over 500+ hours of NG-RP and Italy Mafia RP, but I have like no more than 30 hours in Eclipse so if they are bad suggestions I’m sorry for wasting your time 😕 I may add things as I remember them.

Speed Tickets - I don’t like the idea of putting speeding tickets on the players instead of each vehicle. On Italy mafia each vehicle would gain speeding tickets which would need to get paid with /payticket and it could just pile up. If you got pulled over your car would either get impounded (impound fee + unpaid tickets to get it out) or you would pay your tickets to the officer. Also you would not be able to sell your vehicle unless you had no tickets. By having this feature the players might have to think more about how to park their cars and where because it would be their cars getting ticketed instead of themselves. I can also see that one of the flaws this system may have in eclipse is the fact that cars despawn when you logout in Italy Mafia so the chance of you getting “stolen tickets” was lower.

Rewarding Playtime - I think that having a reward for the hours you spend roleplaying is really nice and motivating. I can show you an example of this from Italy Mafias Changelog:

24th of June, 2012.

  • Game Rewards revised:
    • 2 Hours = $15.000
    • 10 Hours = 3 RPoints
    • 20 Hours = $150.000
    • 40 Hours = 1 Namechange
    • 60 Hours = $500.000
    • 180 Hours = Sultan/Phoenix/Buffalo/Huntley
    • 350 Hours = Infernus/Bullet/Maverick
    • 400 Hours = 1 month premium
    • 600 Hours = $5.000.000
    • 950 Hours = 6 weeks premium

now I get that it’s in hours and eclipse uses experience but it would be a nice to see this and it might influence new players if this was implemented as it would help new players integrate. (Or maybe I just suck lmao)

I’ll add more as I can remember them because I haven’t played Italy Mafia for about 3 years and NG is no more 😞

@Wizzidy yea so the way that I was meaning about the rewards is it could be an incentive for new players to join and experience the server. So then the server would get more activity and bigger community aswell as gaining more dedicated members by having the starting reward at like 10k experience and the reward be like $100,000. If that was implemented it could retain some player base and keep memebers dedicated and active on eclipse. (Because if someone just put in that time to only stop after being rewarded $100,000 they would be foolish)

I can see where you are going with the point on the cars. I just thought that by implementing that system it would be more important for players to park their vehicles more carefully instead of putting them in random spots. I do get that this system wouldn’t work the same way and might/will have more severe consequences because of the fact that vehicles don’t de spawn when you log out.

I defiantly do get where you concerns are coming from :)

Speed tickets tagged to the vehicle is not really a good idea. Largely on the logic that it's the driver that speeds and not the vehicle so it would be easy for people to get away with not paying the tickets. And as Wizzidy mentioned, cars are too easily stolen, not to mention destroyed. Once the car is lost by whatever means then the speeding ticket is essentially invalid and unenforceable.

I think a rewards incentive is a good idea though because it will encourage people to keep playing for as long as those rewards help players advance their RP in some way, however small. Reward schemes often go to pot because the rewards are insignificant, often making little, if any, impact to the player's in-game experience.
