Administrative System

The administrative system includes adminstrator ranks, duty mode, hijack prevention and other safeguards, ban and report systems. The goal was to create an efficient and convenient system with a low risk of abuse.

Ranks

In total, there are five ranks. A lower ranked administrators cannot remove their superiors from the server and may not have access to all commands. For example, moderators are only able to use penalty commands, such as, banning, kicking or jailing, but they cannot use commands that could be abused for cheating purposes, like healing, teleportation, etc..

Duty Mode

While off duty, administrators cannot use most of their commands, but they still receive report notifications and can manage them. When an administrator enables duty mode, he is granted access to all commands and his nametag is changed to notify other users. Administrators are not allowed to play as normal while their duty mode is active to reduce the risk of command abuse.

Ban System

The ban system gives administrators the ability to choose a custom ban length. It also stores all data necessary to write an unban appeal and allows the user to copy an already filled form with a single click of a button (though he still needs to provide an explanation and his viewpoint).

Report System

Whenever a player submits a report, all administrators get a notification and that report is put into a report list. The oldest and high priority reports are always on top of the list, an administrator can change the status of a report so his colleagues can view the unattended reports. Once an issue is solved, the related report is deleted.

Inventory System

We have started working on our inventory system. We are aiming for the best user experience, therefore, the UI will be drag and drop style. We are also planning to introduce a S.T.A.L.K.E.R style inventory capacity system. Each item will take up a different amount of space. For example, a bag of chips could take 2x2 inventory space, while an assault rifle could take 6x2 slots, because it is much bigger. We already have a foundation set for it, so more information and some media should be revealed in Development Blog #3.

Taxi Job

Work has been started on making the Taxi job. This will not be one of the first jobs that new players are going to work on, but it will be an important part of our server. The following has been done: Taxi request management - Taxi workers are able to see a list of requests, the position and the message of a specific request if those are provided by the client.

Eclipse Games

There was also some work done on the Eclipse Games server. We want this server to be up and running in the first days after when the GTA:Network client is released. This server will contain these gamemodes (new gamemodes will be added later):

  • Protect The President
  • Race
  • Battle Royale
  • Freeroam

This week work has been done on lobby UI, merging Protect The President and Battle Royale gamemodes into one server and creating foundation for handling hundreds of dimensions and gamemodes.
