k0ma Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 Title says it all, so im gonna jump straight to the point Current situation As of right now the racing script is split into - Private Tracks (player created for 25k and only visible to the creator) - Public Tracks (tracks that are staff approved) Problems that this creates 1. Racing factions tracks can't be shared properly - Any racing faction have their own tracks that they use regularly. - Some well-known tracks also aren't there in the public list. - If one member creates a private track, only that one person can host it (if they're offline the whole faction cant use the script for this track) 2. It makes the racing scene less accessible. - Yes, we can still race without the script, but the script helps a lot with: * Learning tracks * Not having to memorize routes perfectly * bringing newer/less experienced racers into the scene making it more friendly for them. 3. Time trials & leaderboards are painful without the racing script - We run time trials and keep track leaderboards - Without the script, accurate timing becomes a whole workflow: * record the run * import the clip into Adobe premiere or whatever editing software * add the timestamps effect * adjust settings per clip Its super time-consuming and not something everyone can (or even have the energy) to do. The proposed solution: Add a "Faction Tracks" section In the menu we have Public and Private, lets add a third category. Faction Tracks When creating a private track (still 25.000$), allow the creator to publish the track in that faction tracks category If the track is set to Faction: - It becomes visible to all members for that faction. - Any faction member (or if you wanna work harder specific ranks/permissions) can host it. - Invitations still work the same as normal races. - Staff dont have to deal with approving it since its not public for everyone in the server! This creates a perfect middle-ground: - Staff keep their full control over what tracks they want public. - Factions can still organize proper racing nights without having to rely on one person being online. Thats all from my side if my lovely racers have any other ideas or suggestions feel free to drop them here. 7 Quote
Sukun Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 +1, Having to be around to host tracks for people to race is pretty annoying, Even if the faction tracks are hard to implement, at least give us the option to turn private tracks into public, where the people racing can rate the tracks they race on to avoid spam/troll tracks. 1 Quote
Cup Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 +1 from me... i made a few tracks for SD for example to do time trials for certain vehicles...... however unless i am there myself noone else can use these which kind of excludes people out of my timezone. obviously they can make their own tracks but that kind of meses up the ability to use the in game times 1 Quote
Xaela Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 Big big big +1, it's annoying that we'd have to rely on that certain person to be online just to run the track. 1 Quote
NinerTwoGolf Posted February 17 Report Posted February 17 (edited) Absolutely +1. Edit: Unrelated but fix the leaderboards so it shows only the fastest time for each Person/Vehicle pair. Also maybe add a pop up that tells you that run was a new personal best for whichever category. Edited February 18 by NinerTwoGolf 1 Quote
