Brayy Posted December 3, 2024 Report Posted December 3, 2024 Suggestion: Enhancing Mechanic Roleplay with Immersive Features While chopping cars up north yesterday, I realized that many features from that experience could be integrated into LSC, Bayview, or even Benny's to enhance the roleplay experience for both mechanics and customers. Key Ideas: 1. Improved Roleplay for Common Mechanic Tasks Tire Changes: Instead of the usual simple /me and /do scripts, mechanics could use tools like lug wrenches to physically remove and replace tires. For example: Swapping to snow tires during winter. Adding a more immersive step-by-step interaction with customers watching the process. Painting Cars: Mechanics could use a paint gun to apply color with either: A minigame for precision and timing. A visual effect (spray and drying animation) to show the process in real-time. Engine Upgrades: Mechanics could utilize an engine lift to remove and replace the engine. Adding animations or interactive tools to represent the task would make this feel more rewarding and realistic. 2. Stock Management and Deliveries Introducing a new mechanic shop resource called "Stock": Materials like tires, paint, or parts that mechanics need to complete jobs. Shops would order Stock from suppliers, creating an opportunity for truckers to deliver supplies. This system adds depth to the economy and roleplay by giving truckers another task and mechanics an added layer of management. Additional Benefits: Enhanced Immersion: These features make mechanic roleplay more dynamic and visually engaging, encouraging players to interact with businesses instead of seeing them as simple task hubs. Economy Integration: By linking mechanics and truckers through Stock deliveries, the in-game economy feels more interconnected, benefiting multiple groups. Skill-Based Gameplay: Mechanics could develop expertise in mini-games, creating a sense of progression and making jobs more interactive. These are just some ideas to spark discussion—open to explore alternative directions for implementation! (yes i used chatgpt to make this better dont flame me) 1 Quote
Cup Posted December 3, 2024 Report Posted December 3, 2024 The ONLY thing i would be against is having the skill based minigames effect quality..... now if lets say the minigames jsut made you faster at doing it that seems fine to me and would actually indicate skill as a mechanic somewhat Quote

Diligo Posted December 5, 2024 Report Posted December 5, 2024 Civs love this, crims hate this. But me myself being a mechanic - I never use scripts to roleplay modding or fixing the vehicle, I always write all the /me and /do by hand and it takes time. If I could do this and not write /me and /do then sure, because you know why would i need to write out stuff which is visible already. But if i would need to roleplay with /me and /do every single thing, I would need to leave the job and many more would do so as well because that would become tiring real quick. It sounds fun and I vote +1 for fun but anything that becomes too repetitive is not fun. About the trucker`s job addition and mechanics needing to order stock - +1 to that. That would be funny if a tire is shot out and a crim cant fix it because sir we are all out of tires Quote
Eliza Posted December 5, 2024 Report Posted December 5, 2024 not gonna lie this would be kinda sick and more interactive in my opinion Quote
