Ritchie Stones Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 i want to propose the idea, of being able to pick between 1 to 3 careers or skills, that you can pick to your personal preferences. and being able to maintain this skill. for example - a burgershot employee could double their paycheck by working there for a very long time or regular base (up to 3 months for all examples below) building this skill. - lockpicking could go down by 20 ticks when this action is practiced a lot - taxi driver could earn again up to double their paychek - cooking drugs could reduce the timer by 30% private and public. - water bottles down by 1 tick for refilling - drilling or down by 2 ticks and so forth. i feel like being able to personalize your character to a few specific skillsets gives a more authentic touch on to your character, gives a deeper meaning, and also makes you stand out more personal in specific groups or organizations, - example: a gang is not just looking for an extra member, but a more skilled person towards cooking drugs or lockpicking, and refilling water bottles. - example: a burgershot employee not only makes more money but can cook the food faster. - example: a cop can lockpick faster to unlock the car and get it picked up by the mechanic, etc I would like this skill set something that HAS to be maintained, so your skillset can go down again when this skill is no longer being practiced for longer periods of time. this would give people more reason to log in and upkeep their skillset. lately, I feel a bit lacking purpose in the game and I believe something like this can really spark up some interest into becoming more active for many people. i for example would specify my character to cooking, water bottles, and burgershot or drilling oil, so I would even mix up my skillsets between crim an civilian. i believe this could make a character more unique, more activity in the server overall, more motivation to do so, and making groups or organizations being able to stand out more specific towards what they would like to represent, also bringing extra specific benefits from each person within an organization. 1 Quote
Quietthecutie Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 (edited) +1 I think RPG style skills has been an idea floated around a lot since the drug rework and im a big fan of it. I like the idea of jobs/roles having specialist traits, which make total sense from an RP perspective. ofcourse an experienced angler is gonna catch way more fish than a novice. i also like the idea of freelance and crim jobs becoming interlinked. something like "Jims such a good fisherman, his keen eye and stready hands also means hes exceptional at lockpicking." not the best example but you get the idea. Alot of people find alot of the freelance jobs to be unfulfilling and not worth. if there was a reason to grind them besides the mostly mediocre money more people might do them in more variety. Teenyinnit Posted July 11, 2024 Report Posted July 11, 2024 thinking on this, it's actually a very good idea, but to prevent grinding the points should be capped and redistributed based on character actions. so if your OUT of practice on ATM smashing, you get all 50 skill checks, but you might be better at lockpicking that month. With that in mind, a money transporter would have intimate knowlege of the inner working of an atm, so if you frequently do that job you should also smash ATMs faster Quote
