Bakmeel Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 Hello everyone, After restructuring our internal guidelines and processes, it is now time for the next phase of FM2.0. We are pleased to announce the next change under FM2.0 for the community: new forum thread guidelines. Although this update may not sound as exciting as some of you had hoped, we believe these changes will make a significant difference over time. We hope to release the big changes you have been waiting for within a couple of weeks, as the Dev Team is still hard at work finalising these changes. With these new forum thread changes, we will require that all factions create a new thread. The reason for this is that we want everyone to start fresh and follow the same format moving forward. Furthermore, some of these threads were created years ago by people who are no longer in the faction, and some information might be outdated and could use a revamp. We value the long history that some faction threads have and hope that the old forum threads will be linked to in your new forum thread. This new thread needs to start with an "original post." This post will be about the creation, history, development, goals, achievements, etc., of your faction, as many of you are already familiar with. After that, three posts need to be made, and we want you to put extra effort into them as they will need to show the very essence of your faction. What is your faction all about? What makes your faction unique and stand out from others? In the beginning, it might be a bit confusing what we are looking for exactly, which is why your faction guides will work closely with you to ensure that everyone gets it right. For new factions that don't have guides yet, they will now be eligible to request guides 14 days after the thread has been created and these three posts have been made. Because of this, we want to use your faction threads as examples for these new factions to draw inspiration from. To encourage each of you to make the best example forum thread possible, we will be rewarding the three best faction threads with a reward that will be announced with the next changes. We are sure that all of you will be interested in this reward. After these three posts, it is our aim to lower the workload for factions to maintain a forum thread. That is why we have lowered the requirement for the number of posts to be made to a minimum of one per week. This weekly post needs to be about what the faction has done during the week. Additionally, this post will only require pictures or screenshots to be posted; an underlying story is optional. Posts about individual members do not count towards the minimum of one post per week and are also optional. Many of you have opted to write your stories within a graphic design. However, moving forward, we will require these stories to be posted as plain text as well. This means that you can still use graphic designs to tell your stories, but all text needs to be posted as plain text under the post. This can be done in a "quote," or by placing text in a “spoiler” which will have less impact on the visual appearance of your post. The reason for this is that the text must be searchable by search engines through "full-text indexing." With this, we hope to attract more new players in the future. We will give everyone a month to create their new thread and have the original post and the three additional posts ready, and we are excited to see what you will create.
