  1. Date and time (provide timezone): 12/MAY/2021 - 16:41 UTC Character name: Steve Smyth Issue/bug you are reporting: Mini MDC does not allow input of script binds: Engine on / off, indicator left and right, CTRL + R (Respond to last call). Comparing to CTRL+B and CTRL+E which both work. Also doesnt work if you re-activate the chat. Expected behavior: Engine should be able to be switched on and off, indicators functional, and CTRL+R should respond to latest backup. Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Simply open the mini MDC and try the functions mentioned. Didnt feel a screenshot was necessary, video also wouldnt be useful as it cant capture my keys.
  2. Is this @Papadakis's alter ego?
  3. There are definitely ways for you guys to escape, and all I can say is that the bait cars are not that frequent We all have our reasons for playing the game, PD included! There's so much in depth that PD do that most people don't get to see. We really do with what we get at the moment, because there's a lot we can't deal with.
  4. Yea, just to try and spark some thought in to new ideas! But unfortunately with those jobs the reality is there is so much unknown and it's not clear the best way to do it. Mining for me only seemed efficient if you had a large truck and a few crates, neither of which I had a clue how to come by, with nobody wanting to help! Also the fact you get robbed a LOT!
  5. Overview I meant to post this a while ago, but never really got around to it! So, initially as playing as a civilian character before I joined PD, I struggled a little bit with finding the balance between wanting to RolePlay with players, but also making money. And to do this, I had to avoid all crimes, as I wanted to be a clean character. What I found was that the civilian jobs were quite low paid, maybe slightly decent with the likes of money transporter / fishing / mining, however, these did not provide any RolePlay, which is really the main reason why we're all here, right? Factions cannot be joined until 5k experience, and what I found was, I wanted to maybe be a taxi driver or a mechanic before I took the stride in to LSPD / SASD. However, I was unable to do so until I got 5k experience, by which time I may as well have just went for LSPD. Almost think we need a better way to build people up to the experience required for factions. So, I've taken some time to try and think of some non criminal, RolePlay able, civilian jobs, and here are some spitball ideas to see what you think. Legal Arms Dealer Since we have a weapons licence system in place, as well as weapons stores, what could potentially be a possibility might be some kind of broker job. Whereby, civilians can attain a job from one of the legal weapons stores from around the city. The owner of the store can set a percentage "cut" which the dealer would receive per weapon sale. They would then set a minimum price for each weapon that can be sold, and the dealer can then increase the price from that as they sell to each individual (They control how expensive it can be, but not how cheap it can be). The dealer would only be allowed / able to sell weapons to individuals who have a valid weapon permit for the weapon they wish to purchase (This could be scripted, or at least each sale recorded and visible to the store owner, so a detective could track down an illegal sale). Not sure as of yet as to how they would obtain the weapons and then deal them across. They could either, purchase a number of weapons which would be in their inventory, and they then sell on, and I think if this is the case, dealers themselves would have to have a valid weapons permit in order to become a dealer, meaning those without one cannot just take the job to wrongfully "sell" weapons, and just obtain them for personal use. Pros A perfectly legal job which allows a lot more RolePlay interaction. Dealers can send out advertisements to the city via Weazel News (More RP). They interact with civilians, giving them a more immersed game play. Don't need to be bored driving around / mining by themselves. Have a way to make decent money without being a criminal. Could increase sales and income for business owners. Business owners can control prices / market could be more competative between stores. Cons Scripting aspect may need to be in place to stop abuse. Could potentially open up illegal ways to obtain a weapon (At least it would be a RolePlay way of doing so). Vehicle Dealership Salesman The idea behind this is similar to the last, except the dealer doesn't have to initially buy cars and drive them around in order to sell them to players. These dealers would seek out jobs from one of the numerous dealers around San Andreas. They then act as middle men, to help push new sales out to the city. They advertise through Weazel News, and again, take a % cut which would be set by the dealership owners. (Static % set for all job obtainers). Again, dealership owners could set a minimum salesman price per vehicle, and the salesman can increase the price of these vehicles as they wish / see fit. They act as a middle man, provide a catalogue, which the civilians can open and view to see their stock, and then act as a broker. Once they purchase, the vehicle would then be shipped to the main dealership location, where the player can then visit to collect their new vehicle. Pros Exactly the same as the pro's for the Arms Dealer above. Scripting aspect should be relatively simple and not open to abuse like the above job. Cons Scripting aspect may need to be in place to stop abuse. Could potentially open up illegal ways to obtain a weapon (At least it would be a RolePlay way of doing so).
  6. Personally I try to do this as often as possible, and fair point on the "you got evidence?" point, maybe we should be more weary of this! I think i'll always take a positive outlook on it from now on from this :D I generally visit the bank for a chat for example when in need of refreshments, and do try to talk, but quite often than not, criminals just wear masks and call us pigs when we try. And then when we ask them to take their masks off, they get more bitchy. So, it's not all on us! Actually, this is quite common in Los Angeles for example, where the city is based off. Quite a number of police / news videos around of this as well! From my stand point at least, I dont drive around aimlessly, I do patrol the major known areas and common crime areas, but quite often, we get bored like anybody else! A pursuit is our way of fun, and brings about the most RolePlay for us due to negative attitudes from civilians. We do try quite often to not have the whole force responding, and supervisors do often clear units from TAC pursuits when there are enough cruisers in the pursuit line. Community outreach should be better from us, but "civilians" or "criminals" need to also play a part in making this RP more enjoyable!
