  1. I'm inclined to somewhat agree, as I feel that some players fail to have any decent RP especially in the criminal setting, whereas others have great RP. Having played a bit of both, I find the problem to be a mix of things, that being PD presence, rules, and alternative activities. You're always going to get people who just rob others, because that's what they want to do, even if it is poor RP.

I think that through offering criminals alternative activities to fuel either inter-gang conflict or provide more end-game objectives, slightly adjusting the rules regarding street robberies and better discipline of PD, this situation could definitely be improved.

  2. -1 in this format. I understand your concern, when you think about the pockets you have, you're able to hold a lot more in-game than you reasonably should do. However, concessions do need to be made to actually make the game playable, which is what I view the inventory system as currently. Reducing inventory size to replace it with a backpack makes little sense to me, as it just serves to frustrate the process of playing the game.

I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to being able to wear a backpack AND carry a bag if the backpack offers a weight reduction, but even then that might make certain jobs a tad too profitable. Idk man I like the idea, but not in this format.

  3. +1, this sounds like a great idea to really improve the base level infrastructure of the server, and could open up a lot of RP for both legal business and also criminal enterprise. Someone did mention people Code 0ing over the city and the ensuing chaos, so that's something to be considered, but it sounds like a great idea

  4. Pretty nice idea, though I don't really see a logical outcome for if the newcomer in question fails to pass the border checks. Being kicked would potentially stop them from ever coming back to the server and put them off trying to learn RP, so its something that would probably require some thought

  5. +1, can't think of a reason to not add equip-able gloves. Would improve criminal roleplay in terms of not having to RP wearing gloves, and would be great for the many people who want to wear gloves for fashion, or just to keep their hands warm in the cold weather.

  6. Introduction

This sort of suggestion has been made a few times in different places regarding some of the neutral jobs within the city, but I'd like to throw my  2 cents in with my suggestion of how to make these jobs both more enjoyable on the gameplay end, and also more rewarding in terms of making it a more viable and sustainable source of income for non-criminals and non-governmental workers.

Across both of my characters, I've spent plenty of time working the neutral jobs, from Trucking to Garbage and everything else inbetween. I think some jobs are fine, such as Farming, however others definitely need some sort of update to make them less arduous and a bit more interesting. I think that the Government/Corporate jobs should still remain the higher tier of paid employment on the legal side, and these changes I'm suggesting shouldn't devalue those Government/Corporate roles, but instead should be designed towards the betterment of these neutral jobs.

    Courier

The Courier job is probably one of the most tedious neutral roles within the city, with the quality of the transport vehicle being its biggest downfall. This is probably the most stereotypical suggestion, as I've seen many make it, even within the latest Weazel News magazine. With such a high concentration of homes within the hills north of the city, the current GoPostal van is almost completely inadequate for climbing those steep hills, often making jobs last two or three times longer than they otherwise would if the home you're delivering to was down in Vespucci, or in the central city, even when the distance travelled is still the same. Ironically, the GoPostal vans struggle to climb the hill to the depot when approaching from the south. To double up on the frustration, the large GoPostal van can only carry 10 parcels, which often is only enough for a handful of trips before you have to resupply. The actual pricing of deliveries seems to be weighted on both distance and boxes delivered, which makes a lot of sense.

My suggestion for the Courier role would be an upgrade to the available vehicle, changing the current van to a better performing minivan that can not only handle the hills in the north far better, but also can carry more parcels. 20 seems like a decent amount to really make Courier one of the better neutral jobs, as it definitely has potential. I would also like to see these scripted work vehicles based around deliveries get a fuel increase across the board to 150% or 200%, as they run out of gas pretty quickly, which leads to people returning the vehicle to the depot and pulling out a new one, which kind of breaks the RP of that job.

    Garbage

Garbage is probably one of the worst jobs available. It is completely untouched by most in what I've seen, and for good reason. Whilst the garbage truck isn't terrible and the actual process of the job makes sense, the system in which resources are collected to fill the van is arduous and doesn't work well.

A simple way to fix Garbage would be to change the collection system to something similar to the Trucking job in its current state, allowing for the van to park up and "load" garbage in specific areas, rather than requiring the driver to manually leave the vehicle, pick up the bag, place it inside the truck and resume driving. This would, in my opinion, make the Garbage role far more bearable and actually worth doing, with the truck maybe taking 5 collections until the garbage needs to be unloaded back at the HQ. It could also help to add a distance modifier in terms of the pay for how far the truck would have to travel to make picking up trash on the other side of the city worth it. However this would probably require some extra coding/engine work. Another option would be for Garbage to be a co-op job that allows for two people to work together and collect the paycheck together, just as garbage crews IRL work in units. However this would also require the aforementioned coding/engine work, I assume.

    Trucking

Trucking is a weird one that seems like its harder to balance than it appears. In its current state, Trucking is a fairly inefficient money making method that many truckers seems to supplement with fishing between orders, due to the nature of how the orders come in. Trucking is a job that is essential to the in-game economy, and in my opinion, should be changed in accordance to make it a bit more consistent for those that can be bothered to work this role.

Currently, Truckers have to wait for the owners of the outlets around the city to place orders for supplies, which often pays $1000 - $1500 per job. At a glance that seems like a lot, but given the time taken, its probably on par or below Money Transportation, which is in my opinion one of the best neutral jobs outside Mining, Hunting and Farming. To make Trucking a more competitive job role, I think that store owners should have the option to automatically re-stock the store every IRL day or two through a simple toggle in the store settings, which then creates automated jobs within the Trucking occupation which can be undertaken within a regular cycle. Now, I don't claim to know anything about how restocking stores works, but I think that truck drivers should get $1500 per job worked regardless of what is supplied, with maybe an extra $500 on top of that for jobs that take them out of the city limits to Paleto, Wanted Refresh etc.

Trucking doesn't need to be as consistently workable as something like Courier or Money Transportation, but automated ordering options could really improve this job.

    Bus Driver

Bus driving is actually not too bad, hence why its towards the bottom of the list. The ratio of time taken to payment isn't terrible, and the different route options keep things feeling fresh. Outside of fixing the current glitch with stalled buses, I think one of the more viable ways to make Bus Driving a bit better is to change the current system slightly. My suggestion would be to limit buses to 70kmph, as all routes seem to be within the city limits, but allow drivers to pass by stops without stopping. This would stop the non-RP of buses flying down city roads at 100kmph, and would allow bus driving to be far more fluid. Buses aren't really a viable form of transportation around the city for most civilians, though it would be great if this were the case, so making this job far more fluid for those working it would improve the experience. However, not having to stop at any stops could also introduce some non-RP to the role, so take this suggestion as one of the more tentative ones. Unless you live in the UK like me, in which case you know those buses aren't stopping.

    Money Transportation

Finally, Money Transportation. This is probably the best neutral job role in my opinion, and balances time taken to payment very well. The money truck is a solid vehicle with decent enough performance to carry out its role. My only suggested improvement would be to ensure that every delivery has to be to a different ATM, as double deliveries to the same ATM are quite common, and award no extra money. Also, as I mentioned in the Courier section, upgrading this vehicle to 150% or 200% fuel would greatly improve the gameplay loop of this job.

I'm very curious to hear how people who work some of these roles often feel about these suggestions, and what ideas they have to improve these roles.

  7. Kind do agree with this. Bikes like the BF400 have no visual storage, though you could say you could store a couple of items underneath the seat, which still doesn't warrant the overall 30 spaces the Bike has for storage. You're able to store heavy weapons like an AK on a bike, which seems pretty non-RP to me, whereas budget cars don't seem to have enough storage space compared to the visual size of the trunk.

However, increasing the trunk size of more budget vehicles begins to slowly depreciate the value of the Mule and other vehicles that hold more in the trunk, so it should be carefully balanced in respect to that

  8. Yeah, gonna have to give this a -1. Whilst it sucks hard to get a speeding ticket, or even worse to get arrested, its all part of the RP experience. My illegal character got arrested when I he was pretty low on cash. All I had to my name was a car worth 20k, a mask and an illegal firearm. Now I can't get any sort of job in Law Enforcement, I'm known to police and I have prior, but its all part of the RP, you have to own your choices.

Then the lord said to Cain "Where is your brother Abel?" "I don't know" he replied. "Am I my brother's keeper?"

    Incipient

Jason Vikern and Jay Vorhen. Two people seemingly so distant, yet linked by every fibre of their being. No two men could be so deeply entwined in the life of one another, yet have seen so little of eachother through their most important, formative years.

Jay Vorhen was born April 2nd 1988 to a middle class family of Scandanavian descent. Raised in a fairly pleasant neighbourhood in the West Midlands of England, Jay was raised well. A few years after his birth, Mr & Mrs Vorhen gave birth to Jason Vorhen on November 13th, 1992. Both were raised in accordance with the well-supported yet freedom-oriented parenting style their parents had also been raised with. Both brothers had a fairly uneventful upbringing, doing well in education and easily finding jobs for themselves whilst still living at home.

    Growth

However, life for the brothers was shattered during the night of November 16 2009, a few days after Jason's 18th birthday. Jason returned from work to find their once comfortable family home ablaze, the glow from the flames illuminating the once quiet street that was now packed with emergency services. Jay sat in the back of an ambulance covered in soot, having his burns tended to by an EMT whilst firefighters struggled to contain the infernal flames that would inevitably tear asunder the peaceful life the brothers had enjoyed. With a solemn look from Jay, Jason knew there were no other survivors.

    Fully Developed

Jay and Jason continued to live together in a cramped apartment for the next few months. Jay threw himself into work, dulling his emotions with the repetitive corporate grind, masking his burns with a suit and tie and his pain with a smile. Jason however turned the other cheek to the world, locking himself away in the tiny room that had become all he had left.

After a particularly tense and heated exchange one night, Jason slammed the door behind him, leaving Jay inside the tiny apartment he now called home. Jason walked out into the rain, feeling the cold slew lash against his face as he threw his hood over his mess of black hair, walking away from the apartment and leaving his brother forever. Jason blamed Jay. He blamed him for the death of their parents, for the fire, for everything. Jay had never told him that the burns on his hands and chest weren't from trying to escape, but rather from his ultimately vain efforts of trying to drag his unconcious mother through the flames that eventually turned her to ashes and swept her from the earth.

    Decay

Jason turned towards crime, choosing to live within his own void rather than branching out and trying to better himself. He eventually changed his name through Deed Poll to Jason Vikern, a surname he borrowed from the maiden name of his grandmother on his Father's side. He eventually made his way to Liberty City, not finding much success. He spent some time homeless as a lone criminal, eventually falling in with the Angels of Death MC before their collapse in 2013. Jason eventually found his way to Los Santos, enjoying the hectic, crime-ridden violence that plagued the city. Though he was thousands of miles away from his brother and the ashes of his former family home, thoughts of his parents and Jay always danced in the back of his mind, flickering like flames.

Jay Vorhen continued on without his brother, a solemn sadness replacing the burning pain that had always lived within him. Losing his parents was a burrowing sorrow in his heart, but the loss of his brother gnawed at his soul. After spending a few more years in England, working the same corporate job day after day, Jay yearned for something different, something exciting. He craved a wild excitement that only American society could provide. Jay decided to pack up and leave, handing in his resignation and flying out the following day. Jay visited a few different states, eventually landing in Los Santos. This city was wild and untamed: criminals roamed the streets like animals, firearms were brazenly displayed like jewellery, and it was exactly what Jay was looking for. Jay settled nicely into the city, making few friends but taking a great interest in the hunting economy of Los Santos & Blaine County.

Thousands of miles from where both their lives were ripped apart, Jay Vorhen and Jason Vikern now reside in the same city, ironically unaware of how close they are to one another. The city is large and busy, but this place does have a way of bringing people together.

  10. Been hunting for a fair while on my legal character, its not too bad but its definitely a learning process, and could definitely do with some improvement.

I kinda would like to see a map with some sort of marker as to where the animals spawn, preferably a rough circle, though I think more could be done to generally make Hunting a better experience. Been thinking of setting up a club for Hunters, Fishers and Farmers lately, to both give people a group of friends to do these fairly lonely activities with, and also to (in character) push for the introduction of a more diverse and accessible ecosystem of animals through government lobbying

If everyone hung out around a park they'd be constantly robbed and DM'd. also the bank became the "spot" because people just gradually decided on it, cant really force something like that.

My bad, completely forgot to say the idea of making the park itself a permanent NCZ, to obviously avoid DM, robberies etc. I agree that you definitely can't force people to choose to congregate somewhere, but I think it'd make far more sense if we had a plaza, park or other gathering area to give people the option of a safe place to hang out that actually makes sense in RP.

    Observatory would be pretty cool

  12. I do quite like bank, mainly due to all the different sort of people there, but it is incredibly non-rp to have people hanging around at bank, speakers plugged into thin air, firearms sales and all sorts going on. I'd much rather see the common gathering place be some sort of park so you've got at least a bit more logic behind people gathering there.

I wouldn't be opposed to NCZ's changing according to the time of day however, that's also a pretty good idea though would probably require some engine work

  13. I like this idea a lot. Done plenty of money transporting and courier work across both my characters, and having a little bonus or perk for time allotted to each job would be great, especially for the Courier. I'd like to see the van get a small increase in acceleration and to be able to carry more boxes ideally
