  2. A Ford Mustang GT is not your average street car. The vast majority of cars you will pass on your way to work, in an average working city, would not be able to trump a police car.

For the record, the cruiser is NOT ABLE to compete with the top tier super cars. Not even close, so I'm not sure why you are making that comparison.

Try to keep your suggestions to constructive in future. Bashing an entire faction does nothing but create hostility and derail the original suggestion.

1.Now that it will be harder to fuck around in supercars, what about underpowering the cruisers a little bit to a realistic level compared to the other cars and restricting the weaponry: tazer, pistol, shotgun for normal cops?

    2. Remove some possible money pits (for some) by adding saveable clothing asap, plus little things like /togglehat /toggleglasses.

    3. PLEASE try to fix the Baller LE being stuck in place without cruise control on bug.

    1. Realistically a cop car will out perform 95% of cars on the street. They are designed to do so. If supercars ever become really realistic, as in not used in every other crime and chase, I'd be all for reducing the HSIU to something more realistic and taking the speed buff off the cruiser. Cops need to at least be able to match force, ideally top it. If criminals have AR's regularly, the police need the same. I would much rather the tazer, pistol, shotgun as you've suggested but not likely at the moment.

    2,3 +1 :D

  4. You cannot force manipulation on prices without damaging the economy further. Fixing car sales will do nothing for the overall economic state of the server because it's not part of the problem, it's merely a symptom. The big problem is cash coming in vastly outweighs cash going out. This economy cannot be "fixed" without a huge wipe or a reworking of monetary value.

The cost of a product is summed up in its most basic form as supply vs demand. If there is too much supply, as there is with vehicles, the demand drops. As demand continues to drop, prices follow.

It's no different to an Auction House in an MMO game. People will always undercut to sell something faster but the base price of product remains the same, with minor fluctuations. Only way you can really fix the car market prices is to manage the supply and demand. You cannot do that without limiting the amount of each kind of car that is available or using diminishing returns and eventually forcing people to lose the vehicle and purchase another.

Personally, I think Flow's suggestion is the best fix for this idea but nothing that's going to be done quickly.

  5. Just wanted to post this here. I'm sure it's very frustrating when an officer cuffs and drags without roleplay. Given the chance, we'd love to RP it out fully but it's seldom the case. Check out the video below. This is an example of what happens when we try to RP those commands. I would say this situation happens in 7/10 arrests:

This entire situation lasted close enough to 60 minutes. Even after the long chase, huge run, multiple tazer shots. We still attempted to properly RP the arrest.

Its the lack of incentive to RP correctly.

That summarizes everything. You shouldn't need incentive to RP on a RP server. As I said previously, this is not the solution to the problem.

Then boost the helicopter for realism. Criminals have to deal with crashes as well so that is no different for PD imo. (if the criminal crashes mid-pursuit and returns he is at a disadvantage if not captured. If the police helicopter crashes then yeah, got away. RP it as technical issues with the helicopter: "Returning to base for emergency maintenance: suspect last seen [10-20] heading [direction]"

I'm not saying the 811's have no place in PD, just should be very careful when deploying them. Maybe they weren't deployed often, I guess pursuits often pass BayView then.

There is more than just the PD that uses an 811. Every time the HSIU is deployed there is a trail. Criminals have to deal with crashes too? lol Here's a big difference. When a criminal crashes during a chase the PD pauses RP. Back up units not on scene are told to stop and wait for the suspect to return. If you are being chased by a helicopter and the driver crashes, would you respond in kind? Nobody does.

About the no suspicion @SoloSmith: Really? Cops don't find it suspicious that a man without a job (untill recently), drives the most expensive cars and dresses like a kingpin? Okay.

Moving away from that I agree that having a switch in police cruisers doesn't make sense. I also don't think the high speed police cars should be around as often as they are. It should only be used for criminals that have been evading multiple times and have gotten away from the police for their active record. That way it would reset after every imprisonment and the high speed pursuit (HSP) vehicles would only be used for those slippery bastards.

Moving away from the HSP vehicles, I think cops should be driving the standard cruiser more often and not the interceptor, as that is already a HSP vehicle in the game on it's own, just doesn't work that well on Eclipse cause of the fast cars. IRL police would keep their distance if a pursuit goes completely nuts, endangers the citizens in the area and let a helicopter take over and keep watch as they try to coordinate the ground units to a spot where they can intercept. That helicopter isn't utilized enough imo.

Proves my point as I'm talking about someone else entirely lol

HSIU has been deployed 4-5 times in the last 7 days. That's less than 1 a day. I know what vehicles it was used to chase and what officers used it. Is it being used too often? Not at all. It is not used to patrol. It is only deployed to chase very specific vehicles or to provide urgent assistance to officers at risk in the Paleto Bay area. We have an entire division specifically targeting HSIU and HSU protocols and procedures. We stick to realism. We don't use a brickade to take out a panto and we don't use HSIU to chase a Warrener.

If only criminal players paid us the same respect. Not using an 811 to avoid a speeding ticket. Not using a Zentorno to ram police cruisers. Not many criminals lobbying for that though eh? :D

The helicopter tops out at 230. It struggles to keep up with even the shittier super cars. That and the crashes makes it impossible to rely on the helicopter to take complete control of a pursuit as once they crash, it's done.

And RP is supposed to be be fun, create interesting scenarios for everybody involved, if you win 99% of the time, it's not fun for me, now is it?
Sure, don't do the crime if you can't do the time, but it's a game. Not everyone is cut out for legal or civilian type roleplay.
I think better option would be, when police car starts a pursuit they type, /pursuit id, based on that, the police car speed gets scaled to match the evading car.
There would ofcourse be some baseline, so it doesn't get set for faggio speed or similar but for supercars it could be scaled up.  For everyday cars, it's should stay just the gta v normal police car speed.

PD does not capture 99% of criminals, not even close. Plenty of suspects escape and evade, and in slower vehicles too. Yes it's a game, but it is RP. If you want crazy pursuits and minimal punishments, play GTA:O.

    Quote

if you win 99% of the time

This here is the problem. Why does winning/losing determine fun factor? Some of the best RP I've had, I've "lost". That's the problem here, the mentality of the average criminal player. Be smarter, more creative. Learn how the PD operates.

Asking officers to restrict speed based on the vehicle their chasing makes no IC/RP sense whatsoever.

Supercars are the problem. The solution is sorting that out, not implementing non RP ideas that make no logical sense.

As Grove was mentioned - I have had many RP situations with them. On foot, with guns, in a car. Win or lose, everyone is having a fun time. Let me give you a perfect example. There is a very high profile, key figure, that has been dealing illegal weaponry for MONTHS. Do you know how many times he's been caught for it? None. Not even a suspicion.

This is not directed at anyone in this thread or anyone particular. If you are doing 4 hours every time you're arrested. You're a bad criminal. Stop doing stupid crap in stupid places :D

  10. A button to lower a cruisers top speed to give criminals more chance to escape? Am I reading that right? lol

How about this for a ground-breaking idea. STOP RUNNING. As soon as you evade police that's an additional 100 minutes of jail time. Stop getting caught, stop evading police, stop committing crimes in the heart of the city and stop committing crimes where there's 10 different witnesses to call 911. The police are meant to have an advantage - that is why real life works.

Adding your suggestion would do no harm in terms of gameplay mechanics so doesn't bother me either way but it makes very little RP sense. All I can see this doing is causing more OOC arguments. "Did you use your speed boost against my Warrener? "No" "Omg yes you did (insert insult here)"

8 hours ago, Triple Seven said:

Special high pursuit units are fine, like they exist now, but they should only be used on highways like IRL. In town police should coordinate and set up roadblocks. Maybe even regular police checks for vehicle damage and alcohol/drugs

Do suspects only use supercars on highways? We've tried roadblocks before, they are pointless when 90% of the community will just do an illegal u-turn to avoid a police officer asking to see some ID or just plough through to avoid having to go the long way around.

I definitely agree that there needs to be a solution to the supercar problem. Asking officers to choose when they should and should not limit their speed is ridiculous imo.

Issue/bug you are reporting: Incorrect time given and ticket price for charging of a suspect

Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate:  A Cadet placed a charge of Reckless Operation of a Road or Marine vehicle on Stranger 2867_7290. He had two outstanding citations but they were not overdue. It was meant to be a 45 minute sentence at the jail. When attempting to /jail it prompted a warning that it was over the 45 minute limit. When doing /prison it placed the suspect in prison for 230 minutes and removed $7000. It was only meant to be a $2000 fine.

I've had a look. I think suspensions were added to already existing suspensions, which shouldn't be the case. Best to nip into PD during peak times and speak with a member of command about it.

No, improve your recruitment and faction to cover more timezones.

Lack of cops means bad department IRL and boosts crime rates.

There is a very big difference between lesser police numbers because of budget cuts and the political environment, and 0 officers responding to dangerous felony calls. The server isn't 24/7 heavily populated so you cannot expect just one faction to be. PD recruitment is fine, just don't call the entire department racist during your interview ;)

  15. With the increase in jail times, they really should increase the reward for robbery. As it stands right now the armed robbery and potential other charges far outweigh the benefits. Armed Robbery - 105 Minutes, $2,000. And that's without throwing on Brandishing a Firearm, license violations, felony evasion and driving charges if you evade.

The amount earned from a robbery should be equal to the risk, but they should also impose restrictions. Can't rob a store unless X amount of cops are online otherwise early morning hours will be ridiculous.

Your friend quit the server to avoid arrest and then tried telling an officer at PD that they had already served the sentence. His licenses should have been removed also.

I dont know why i got charged for so many things, i only drove away with my friend thats it.

Probably a good idea to check the penal code. Even the outdated version has the definition of each crime. Felony Evasion = evading police. Felony public endangerment - putting the lives of civilians and government officials at risk (ramming cars, driving dangerously etc). Reckless operation of a MV (switching lanes, wrong lanes, speeding, wrong way up one way street etc), resisting arrest (fleeing from officers that are attempting to arrest you). What seems like a simple action can often tally up half a dozen charges.

You should have been accessory to most of those though. If you're still in prison tomorrow, I'll check the charges and let you know. What is your IC name?

Is there an updated version of the penal code available yet? @SoloSmith

There is a 2018 version, although the PD forum still links to the 2017 version. Not sure why. I spoke with an LT and he said it's not public yet. I've put in a request with command to try and get it public as soon as possible.

So my friend was driving in a stolen car i was in the passenger seat, we had 3 police cars behind us and we tried to escape. Suddenly we crash into a tree and get engine stalling so we got arrested. I got punished 21d no car license, 15d no truck license, 15d no pilot license3.05 hours jail + some fines. Just for trying to escape police chase, it was on the highway we crashed no ones car and it only lasted 3/4 minutes. Is this even normal? Just for trying to escape police.

Yes, that's normal. I was one of the police that was involved. Two trucks had been attacked by a black car. You were driving past in the wrong lane on the freeway so we wanted to check if you were involved. When you were pulled over, you ran into another car. When the second vehicle crashed, you attempted to escape again.

Felony Evasion, Resisting Arrest, Felony Public Endangerment, Acc reckless operation of a motor vehicle etc. Those are just some of the charges that could have been placed. You also ran when 2 police had a gun aimed at you, best to stop in that situation if you are not armed :) It is harsh and it does suck to sit in jail for that long but that's what happens.

Edit: I just checked through the penal code and I can't find a charge with a 21 day suspension that would have been placed on you but can't tell for sure until I get in game. When I get in tomorrow I'll have a look, if there's been any mistakes I'll forward it through to high command to sort out.

Issue/bug you are reporting:  I'm assuming the developers are already aware of the bug but haven't seen it reported. When you do your time in jail your charges still show as live when you are released, same with fines. This is causing a lot of problems in-game for people getting arrested for the same crimes multiple times. Others are saying they have served the time when they have not

Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: Go to jail, get out.
