Because it's easy to not get fined! Just keep under 80? How can you not understand such a simple rule?

The issue is that some people don't realise how punishing it is until it's too late - and they're already screwed.

There should be a way to remove it - even if its TOO punishing, like a very long prison sentence.

So many people get a load of tickets, and then don't care cos they won't pay them - only to realise quite how punishing it is, then they regret it and want to drive properly.

One of the main things I want from this - is effectively a way to RP'ly reset it.  There are people who want to go back to driving properly but they'll never be able to afford their tickets, so they either see it as 'fuck it I'll just keep speeding' or they quit.

The issue is that players often find out the problem too late, and then it's just that... too late.

@Kai But for the sake of a ((New player)), let's say that they get 10 free tickets and only on the 11th ticket they get fined.

This would mean that the pop up still shows up but when these players got to the LSPD and pay for the ticket, it's paid off by the tax payer.

This is just as bad. It allows a new player to speed with no punishment, putting it in their head that it doesn't matter - only to find that afterwards they are hit even worse than they would be now.  Very bad idea.

How can someone not realise that $2000 has just been fined from them!

The pop up is clear to see.

This does not indicate to a new player the lengths that this runs.  The way that there is no way to clear these tickets.  So many people have assumed that going to prison removes these tickets because it is common practice on servers and how it works irl

The criminals know what they are doing. They're choosing to speed through NCZ's.

    If you can't pay your tickets I reckon these things should happen to you;

              1. You get are sent to prison.

              2. Whilst in prison the tickets are covered by the cash in your bank account and any money that you have with yourself.

If tickets are covered skip to step 4, once you server your sentence.

              3. Assets such as houses, cars and guns are repossessed to cover the fines.

              4. Release from prison.

If tickets are covered skip to step 6.

              5. Reduce the government wages to NIL for the perpetrator, until the tickets are covered.

              6. Drop all charges associated with the speeding tickets.

The problem is that a lot of new players don't really know what they're doing.

Most if not all the people I spoke to did not realise how overly punishing these tickets are, and therefore are now in a position where they are by far kneecapped.  This is causing people to leave the server.

I think having different fines should be a thing based on XP so its fair for new players. I have had a few new players tell me about all the tickets they have got and its way to much to pay off so they just speed all the time now and dont care about the cameras one said if the prices where lower they would pay them off but now its over 100k.

    This is my solution

    New players

    < 5000XP & >75kph = $250

    < 5000XP & >90kph = $500

    < 5000XP & >120kph = $750

    Normal players

    > 5000XP & >75kph = $750

    > 5000XP & >90kph = $1500

    > 5000XP & >120kph = $2500

This would allow new players to pay them before they get out of control once they get a around 5 fines that adds up to around 10k that is a lot for a new player they will just give up and not pay because it would take around 2 hours to pay that off with a normal job with this system it would be a lot affordable for new players also for normal players a small adjustment.

I would argue this is not good enough.  It's rather easy to get beyond 5k tickets and does not have any effect whatsoever on how much money someone may have or whether they could ever afford it.

I think that the speed cameras have really improved quality of life by both avoiding people accidentally mass vdm-ing on crowded areas and by enforcing people to rp drive more carefully. On top of that, it's a good money sink.

We aren't asking to remove them.  The issue is that there are plenty of new players that can't afford them and it causes large issues for their gameplay.

I agree that the tickets are a deterrent to speeding - but large prison sentences would be too.

  7. 1 minute ago, alexalex303 said:

Yes, they were added as a deterrent against speeding. How would it be a deterrent if you could get a free slate whenever you go to bed?

It doesn't have to be an expensive sports car, but from the people that got a high amount of tickets, as far as I know, all of them are expensive sports car owners, that could easily pay their tickets if they wanted to.

It wouldn't be just logging off and going to sleep - it would be an IC prison sentence, and a longer one the more tickets you're removing.  So even if you log off - you'd log back in and keep working at your sentence.

  8. I'm not sure whether this is even possible, but my chat is just a little small for my liking with a 4k monitor.

If possible, could we get a /chatsize command where we can make it bigger / small than default as we like?

+1 for tickets being removed once you go to prison until a certain degree. E.g. you get jailtime per ticket that gets removed.

This makes it that people with 100k in tickets still have a lot of debt even after jail.

    I agree.

It shouldn't be used as an easy way to remove all your tickets - but there should be some form of paying back your debt, be it jail time or menial jobs.

  10. Now at first glance, you may think that this is a really bad idea, but let me explain what I mean.  I am not referring to some illegal way to remove tickets without being punished.

I have met multiple people quit the server because they have too many tickets that they will never be able to pay off. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the cameras removed.  I wouldn't say no to the ticket being cheaper, but that's not what I am referring to.

Players are racking up such a large amount of tickets, that they just keep getting them.  They get to the point that once you have 10k that you're not going to pay, you may as well have 100k, then 200k and so on.  I understand these cameras were implemented because people were driving too stupid, but when people get so many tickets that they cannot remove, they still drive stupidly fast everywhere because if they're not gonna pay the tickets, they're not gonna care.  People are going to prison for not paying tickets, but they still can't afford them when they get out, so they end up going back to prison - it's a vicious cycle and something needs to be done.

My suggestion would be that you go to prison for your expired tickets just as you do now, but your time in prison is increased for the amount of tickets you have.  There would need to be a limit to stop people being in prison for a stupid amount of time, but it should be a rather high limit to still give a sense of real punishment to those speeding too much.  Then, once you get out of prison your tickets are gone.  This way you have still paid the price for speeding but you're not completely kneecapped for the rest of your time on the server.  There should be a way to pay back your debt to society by prison or maybe some community service - such as a dumpster job that doesn't pay you, but instead writes off tickets.

I will note that this is the same as it works in real life. A person will go to prison if they cannot pay their fines but their fines would be written off.

It is just a shame to see people quitting the server because they are so kneecapped by these tickets.  The cameras need to stay though, whether the price changes is up for debate.

Players are often not made aware about how the system works until it is too late.  It should be made more clear to new players. I have met countless with hundreds of thousands in tickets.

I am not saying this should be an easy solution, but there should be one where it is possible to wipe it.  Not necessarily something you would want to do often at all - and therefore not simply a way to speed and not be paying tickets - but a way for a player to start over in terms of tickets where they can then go forward following the speed limits.

I had a large amount of tickets and I had to name change in order for it to be worth going back to following the speed limit, because why bother if you can't afford the tickets you already have?   So now I changed my name, reset my tickets and I do not speed at all.

Again, this is not a way to speed all the time and reset constantly, but I am suggestion a possible way for people to reset just like I did, and then follow the speed limits, just like I am.  People should not have to spend real life money for a name change just for this.  You can only change your name once before having to spend credits and many people have used them up already.

  11. Today, admins were destroying vehicles that were parked around the bank without a parking ticket. This, as I understand, was done to reduce lag by all the vehicles being around - especially when they aren't paying for the vehicles to be there.   Removing them is fair.

Whilst I would argue that this is an IC issue, and the admins should grab a cop to go do it - I also understand that actions were needed.  This is where my suggestions come:

Make a /adminimpound command or whatever - where instead of admins having to destroy cars, they send them to impound.  None of these players broke OOC rules by parking there, they broke IC law by not paying for a ticket.  Putting them in impound would be more roleplay by far.  Not to mention that expensive cars now need to pay a lot of money to get it out of Mors.

Another issue, is that whilst they should have paid for it, players are now going to report their car being destroyed, because it was parked in an NCZ, and therefore it should not have been stolen, chopped or destroyed.  They will log on assuming someone has broken rules and taken their car - which just makes people think that there are even more rulebreakers on the server than there are.

Putting these vehicles in impound is not only immediately more roleplay - when players log in, they won't see it as someone has broken rules to get their car, and that they have just been towed as they deserve to be.

I will just say, my vehicles weren't affected by this, mine weren't destroyed, so I am not angry, this is just a genuine suggestion.

    Thanks!

  12. +1. Makes it easier to actually see what speed I'm going without taking my eyes completely off the road.  Not sure whether it's cos I'm in 4k which makes it worse but it's pretty small.

I don't want to agree with Daniel though cos he's a pleb.

  13. So I don't know if it just happened to me, but a few of my friends have experienced the same, so I'm gonna assume it's always.

Basically if you have your prison sentence reduced IC'ly, you get released and then put back to prison by an admin.  My issue however is that when you're in the DOC prison, there's RP, interactions and it's genuinely fun - however upon being reduced and put back to jail, I was instead put in the PD cells where you're on your own, no cops or real interaction with everyone.

I would rather have to spend double the amount of time in jail and have fun than reduce it and be stuck on my own bored out of my brain.

There's always a chance that the staff member just used the wrong command for me and my friends in the past, but if not it would be great if they could have a command which lets them put you in DOC prison.

That's a great suggestion! For the moment I suppose you can just roleplay your stuff being locked away, so while they'll be able to take them script-wise, roleplay wise they'd be locked somewhere. In a storage cabinet in the trunk for example, or the glove box.

Yes exactly, thank you.  That's what I currently do but with the ability to abuse a script comes the need for admin intervention.  Luckily I don't carry around much of my stuff in my vehicles.

    Thanks for your input 😄

  15. So I haven't had a direct issue with this myself, however it is one that I see happening.

If you unlock your car, say if you're kindly giving someone a ride somewhere or something - they instantly have access to take shit out of your vehicle inventory.

Whilst I understand that there is the taxi service and so on - this will cause nobody with anything in their car to give anyone a ride, or risk anyone in their car for any reason unless they trust them.  This is something that I feel may hurt the server in minor ways.

Being able to lock and unlock your vehicle inventory separately should be made available.  This could be used as a /vehicletrunk command - this is also more RP friendly anyway.

I hate to see people ruining the taco job, it is my favorite job. And i actually see this a lot. It is a shame i do enjoy the recent updates to the taco job. Please report those who are scamming in NCZ. This is not ok. Dont want nothing happening to the taco job, its seriously one of my favorite parts of the server.

Just logged on and tried to deliver tacos, set my price and it was off. I set the price of a taco to 150 and it appeared as if that was the price until someone bought it. When the player purchased the taco it charged them 550. Taco truck is currently bugged.

Whilst this may be the case I feel this is somewhat irrelevant.

This guy knew his price was $1400 and it was always 1400.  It never reset to 550 or went lower.  He knew what he was doing.

  17. Just now, fultrim said:

So I saw this guy earlier.  I asked him how much. he said 1400.  I saw him say 1400 as the price to another person... HOWEVER....

I do see people getting upset at the price and so he might be exploiting the situation and it might be a scam or it might be ... well how is 14$ reasonable... he pays 400 for them.  wouldn't 1400 be the logical price of "14"?

Interesting because literally loads of people were asking for the couple of hours he was sitting there - and not once did he tell the truth about the cost.  Either you're his friend and lying, or maybe he changed his tactics as if he tells the truth nobody buys it.

You're also missing the point of what's going on. 14 wasn't the only price he gave, he also said $100, $400 and so on.  The issue is partly that there is no way to confirm or even check the price.   What if he set it to 10k?

  18. 1 minute ago, chmokes said:

His opinion is that its the players fault that they were misinformed by the person selling the tacos, when there is no way to check what the price of the taco is on our end. Its not even close to RP because that would never happin in RL

I understand that. I'm not saying he's right.  It is my full opinion that he is wrong.

Doesn't mean he shouldn't be staff.

Anyway lets not get off track - lets change this taco shite
