Ranger
Introduction With the recent addition of /fdo, there may be some questions about how to properly "use" it, or maybe there's just confusion on its use case(s). With this short guide, you should have a better understanding of how to use /fdo! What is /fdo? /fdo or /floatingdo is a way to provide deeper RP in the environment we surround ourselves in such as posters, flyers, evidence enhancement(s), etc. While /do would be used for explaining something happening to your character, /fdo would be to describe something in the environment in a form of /do (e.g. describing footprints leading away from a crime scene). Once the /fdo is no longer relevant then be sure to delete it with /removefdo [ID]. This can be done from anywhere. Use /listfdo to see a list of all your placed /fdos. You can also customize the text color the same way you can customize text chat. You are also permitted to use links in your /fdo to advertise or further explain what would be shown (e.g. having a link to an imgur album with a custom made menu in it). As a courtesy, you may put the link in single brackets, but it is not necessary as the fdo is already in double brackets. When should/shouldn't I use /fdo? /fdo is an optional command to utilize. As stated above, it is a way to provide a deeper environment for other players without necessarily needing to be present to provide the RP. You are not required to use /fdo however they can be very beneficial to create some visuals for the roleplay that is occurring. Below are a couple of examples of when to and when not to use /fdo. When should I? /fdo can be utilized to explain an inanimate object or scenario without being present. An example scenario is the scene of a home break-in. There is a huge advantage to the command as it can be quickly placed and then deleted. Another example can be putting up a poster or a flyer. You should keep in mind that when doing something such as this, you are expected to roleplay creating the item - /fdo in itself is not a poster, it is just the roleplay showing that a poster has been hung. When shouldn’t I? /fdo is used to provide RP in an environment, and it is not an alternative to using /me or /do in active RP with others. They should be written similar to how a /do is so they require such prefixes faces such as “There would be” or “A poster reads”. You cannot just have floating text with no direct relation to any RP that has occurred. They are not used to describe people, additionally, for medical RP /fdo should not be utilized, you should continue use of /do.
