  1. Date and time (provide timezone): November 18, 5:00am and 4:30pm UTC

    Character name: Baxter Verstetten

Issue/bug you are reporting: I logged out at Paleto Parking at 5:00am to go to sleep, then got on during my break at work later in the day to check something and was spawned at Eclipse Towers apartment 50.

Expected behavior: I should have spawned where I logged off in Paleto.

Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate: I've heard of this happening to multiple people by now and it unfortunately seems incredibly random for when it happens and therefore hard to troubleshoot. I'm not sure if this is a desync issue inherent to RageMP or an actual bug relating to ECRP, but I figured I'd make a formal report just in case. Hard to gather personal evidence of this unless I am to start screenshotting with /time every time I plan on logging off to record where I do so.

  2. While I sympathize with the issue here having started playing at the beginning of June this year, it's just the nature of markets run almost entirely off of resell. It's why we see cars that can still be bought in dealerships remain at relatively stagnant prices on the used markets, but residential and (especially) business properties continue to inflate indefinitely in price. If there's not a constant supply of a good to meet the regular influx of new players on the server, then prices will only continue to inflate - even more so when you consider the fact that supply is actually decreasing given that players who own assets get banned or leave the server but their assets remain in their possession for a considerable amount of time.

Unfortunately though, due to the nature of resell markets, simply restarting the stock supply of these assets will not help anything. If a new batch of houses/business properties were introduced on the server, the rich would simply buy them up ASAP and the resell prices would barely decrease, if at all. Only a lucky few who actually want to use them would likely get to purchase them for the fair stock amount that the server lists them at. The only real solution I see to this is to flood the market with such a large quantity of these assets that it would be impossible for the still-interested rich players to buy them all up for resell. While this may not be an awful idea for residential properties, this is definitely not suitable for business properties as it will just provide too much competition for anyone's business to be worth the investment they've put in.

I'm pretty sure the server staff are taking a stab at this issue by creating money sinks in the form of staff auctions/raffles, but I'm not entirely convinced it's enough to fix the issue. The auctions only take large sums from a small number of individuals, and the raffles pray on the poor and stupid by costing so much per ticket while being relatively ineffective on the rich.

While it's frustrating to see players sitting on millions and have the ability to get millions more just because they bought a car for a few hundred thousand and can now resell it for millions without it being available in dealerships, there's just not a whole lot that can be done without also hurting players who have participated in the resell market up until now (imagine buying a comet retro for $6mil+, just to have it reintroduced to dealerships at under $1mil). I feel it's just an unfortunate reality that we have to come to terms with at this point in the server's life.

I'm sick of the comparisons to real life. It's a game, not real life. The most fun to be had on the server if you like PvP and robbing people is well, robbing people and PvP. That accounts for a LARGE amount of people on the server.

Do medics fix you IRL by driving the ambulance to a medical centre and then you pop out instantly fixed?

Do cops have about 7 PD's in a small city IRL?

There's a lot of things that aren't realistic in the game, and it doesn't need to be, because it's a game.

It's a terrible idea to have limited criminals in such a way where they don't want to do anything anymore.

The main reason I like RAGEMP is because EVERYONE is a player that you see. I don't want to have to account for invisible witnesses when robbing someone.

Really just sounds like you're here to shoot and grief, not to RP.

I'm not a fan of it. I think that if you want such a huge IC advantage, you should RP it. It's a bit like letting people have gloves without rping them (before they got scripted).

I've RPed a dashcam on several occasions, and when I didn't, sometimes I wished I did, but then I lost an advantage because I "forgot to turn it on".

I think it's very balanced as it is.

    -1

Guess I never really considered the burden of remembering to "t/me turns on the dash cam {enter} t/time {enter}" for every tow truck spawn and clogging up storage space on my drive with screenshots as a matter of IC balance, but I appreciate the new perspectives for sure.
Is it safe to assume you didn't see the first bulleted caveat as enough of a counterbalance to this change then?

  5. Fairly simple suggestion here - I propose we remove the requirement for RPing the turning on of dash cams while in any government spawned vehicles (this includes any vehicle spawned by LSPD, LSSD, DOC, Gov, DCC, and LSC).
Note: The requirement of RPing saving the footage would still be necessary for IC evidence.

Rationale - in real life, I don't have to physically turn my dash cam on as it turns on automatically when my car starts. As a mechanic, all this currently does is clog my shadowplay folder with screenshots of me turning on the dash cam with how often we spawn and despawn tow trucks while on-duty. We never RP installing the dash cam to the vehicle we spawn since all of these vehicles would have dash cams installed already for liability purposes, so it only makes sense that we could assume the dash cam turns on when the vehicle starts.

    Caveats for discussion -

    • Since we're easing the restrictions on RP for this, a possible drawback could be that people investigating dash cam footage won't get the same benefits of the 3rd person rule we benefit from on this server with body cam footage. Only footage in front of the vehicle could/should be considered when reviewing dash cam evidence ICly?
    • Possibly allow this for player-owned vehicles if they have an instance of them installing the dash cam in their car saved as a screenshot with a /time included? Not sure on this, I've got open ears on it though.

I was told that there are some issues with the new vehicles that would require some modification of our current car system to function correctly.

I'm sure given their previous record of doing so, the devs will add more vehicles when/if it makes sense to once those issues are resolved.

So uhhhh are we just gonna ignore burnout's D10 then?

The LSPD is one of the factions that is held to the highest possible standard on the server and while on occasion, individuals might do things that let themselves and the faction down on occasion, ultimately the standard of our role-play is among the highest in the server.

You want to talk about realism, but only when it backs up your own grievances with the police factions. Half of you posting don't give two fucks about the role-play standard, you just want more freedom to play the game you want with little to no impunity. It's always the same in these threads, criminals shaking it like a salt shaker. Perhaps if some of you had a little more credibility yourselves, you'd be taken more seriously.

Consider that first incident for a second. That vehicle that was blown up, was an armour plated Baller. The only one on the server and it was located on a scene with the largest concentration of cops i've seen in months and yet a criminal decided to steal it and take it for a joy ride. Special circumstances require special measures. It's not like an Insurgent shooting a .50cal at a bulletproof car on a highway is an every day occurrence. It's happened once.

Talk to me about realism when you're not driving around on a drag bike 200km/h+ in the city wearing pyjamas with an AK on your back and a song in your heart all day.

Couldn't disagree more with this. There are numerous things that PD do, ranging in size and severity, that are not of high RP standards. Most of the big ticket issues have already been brought up here - tazing from windows, lethal force for non-lethal crimes - while some smaller ticket issues include a lack of RP to spawn vehicles (if the mechanics and DCC have done it for ages, why can't LEOs?) and imagining magnetic hooks on your rusty tow trucks so you don't have to get out and RP hooking up a car that you're impounding. The notion that people in PD actually believe they're held to the highest standard possible and FLAUNT that claim is confusing and borderline appalling to me, a non-crim player.

As for comments on the OP, I couldn't agree more. I've felt extremely uneasy lately with the RP situations I've seen stem from Head Admin actions.
That scene with the .50 Cal gun on the highway was straight from GTA:O with a complete disregard for the fact that, as many player reports have stated, "The highway should be RP'd as a busy interstate and actions take on or near it should take that into account."
The spawning of a Coquette D10 the other night, seemingly just to give SD and PD something to chase and then lockup once found, comes off very sour to a player base that's been asking for new cars for a while. What this says is "Look, we can spawn in cars that were added incredibly recently to GTA:O, we just haven't done so for any of you." It appears this D10 issue wasn't one of providing RP for LEO factions, but a case of a Head Admin not understanding why they were spawning in a vehicle in the first place. Still an issue in my eyes, but an off-topic one for this post so I'll drop it.
Do you think we'd ever see a Head Admin on a crim character spawning in a Technical (pickup truck with a machine gun in the bed) or an armored Karuma for their Crim RP?

Combining these instances with how often Head Admins have been LOA'd recently just gives the perception that they're bored and using the server as their own playground in an effort to maybe reinvigorate their interest. As a player, it's very discouraging to see this. ICly, I've been unaffected by any of this - I turn myself in when I get Reckless Ops from cameras, I pull over when a cop flashes his lights because I don't want felonies (and thankfully they're not bad enough to stack charges on a non-violent civilian), by and large I'm fine. OOCly though, I get tired and anxious having to deal with cops on this server because you never know if you'll get one that will actually RP with you, or is just there to coldly hand you a ticket and move on to the next victim.

+1 OP, thanks for the post.

My view on law enforcement in the server is that it's been okay but it's rapidly degrading. I used to be a criminal main over a year ago, and most of my interactions with police officers were within the boundaries of what I'd consider realistic, and for a couple of months, I was a supervisor in the LSPD, however, since returning to criminal, two months ago, I've been noticing more and more gross abuses of power. I'm not sure if this is because I now know (OOCly) a lot more about police regulation, and when they are pushing it, or if there truly are more abusive cops, but there are quite a number of officers that have absolutely no regard for law and what is acceptable.

To give you an example, two days ago I went to the police department to inquire about a revoked gun permit. The officer that I was questioning asked for my identification, which I found reasonable. There were several other officers in the room. Another officer says, "I want to see your licenses too!", and a Detective identifies me verbally, by my full name. Then another cop says, "You have to show it or its failure to identify". I show the officer my identification, even though another law enforcement officer identified me, and she had no WORK RELATED reason to know my name. Then the officer that initially threatened me with a charge, asked to see it as well.

This is the kind of gross abuse of power, that I feel is borderline NonRP. There was absolutely no work related reason for the 5th officer in the room to know the same name that 4 other cops knew, and verified that I was not wanted. It was quite simply a power play.

The usual response to this is file an IA report. The issue with that is that officers are not punished harshly enough, nor are the reports dealt with in a timely manner.

I will provide you with a second anecdote.

Last month I was involved in an armed robbery with two other people, and one of the victims named me as a perpretator later on. She was a female character. A cop, with no evidence what-so-ever, based on her word of mouth, searched me and my vehicle. I did not have anything illegal in my possession. Furthermore, after he established that I did not have any illegal items, and I was not wanted, he placed me in cuffs, and inside his cruiser, and quite literally kidnapped me to face my accuser, that was in a different area. My car was left unlocked on the side of the road. I protested it, and the officer said that "I'm being detained for an Investigation".

I filed an IA report, on the 10th of September. I just received an answer on 14th of November, saying that, of course, the officer broke policy, and that he was "disciplined".

Now I ask you, what do you think was the discipline? My guess is a written warning.

What would the discipline be for me, or any other person if we kidnapped someone under no legal bases and kept them there? Prison.

The fact that the cop was not at the very least fired is exactly why people feel the way they feel about law enforcement. There is very little recourse for most abuses of power, and even when they get confirmed, it's a slap on the wrist for the cop.

This was a long rant, so I will present you with some solutions to end it:

    • If an officer is found to be in breach of a serious protocol, think force matrix, false detainment, etc, he should be fired. No written warnings, no suspensions.
    • If an officer is found to have falsely arrested someone, they should be fired. No written warnings, no suspensions.
    • If an officer is found to be issuing orders that are not lawful, he should be suspended.

The current punishment system is not proportional to what abusive law enforcement officers can inflict upon their victims.

Hi, I don't want it to seem like I'm dragging up an old thread, just saw an interesting title on the home page for threads that had recently been posted in and gave it a read, then found this gem while doing so.

I'm really curious if Alex still feels this way.

In an effort to stay on topic though, I think IA overhauls in PD would be the best conclusion to this post, and that's something that needs to take place ICly. Hope others share my curiosity here.

  9. +/- on this.

+ Fun RP to be had
+ More job support for civilians
+ Great way to mitigate losses when false charges are placed on you

    - As others have stated, will take a LOT of manpower
    - Would require a rework of current sentence times, as currently anything more than 4hrs IS an OOC punishment. Can you imagine getting stuck in jail for 27 irl hours if your sentence was originally 9hr and you lost a case? imo, fix current prison times before even touching this.
    - A lot of people's motivations for supporting this are to reduce the frequency of bad charge placement or unnecessary charge stacking and I just feel that there's a better solution that's also been mentioned in this thread - ICly revamp the IA process for police. If police are actually worried about the consequences of them fucking up charges or wrongfully arresting someone, I guarantee the frequency of these wrongful scenarios diminish. Find a motivation for your character to get involved in the legal work involved in changing such a system and start pushing for it if you really want to see a change - it's what I'm doing.

  10. So the issue here is that the one online mechanic is actively working, just not at the shop you're at. It may be possible for the devs to rework the auto-repair function to be based off of faction location, but I'm really not sure. I'm also not sure if they'll want to make this change, as it could let people abuse one shop when it's understaffed (for instance, say Bayview has 3 or 4 people working, but LSC is empty - under this new system people could just go to LSC for quick repairs with no RP). I get that it's frustrating, but trust that people are ICly working to fix this issue 🙂

No, just simply send a PM on discord to a senior admin and ask him to change your name. I did it.

    I did, was told this:

I'm pretty sure only SA+ can do this, and I was told by one of them that they only do this in scenarios where the person needs to change it for privacy reasons.

    Lmao

After the bachelor party, Baxter took time to reflect on what exactly he'd put together with these Warreners. It became evident that these cars were more than just a party gag - the way he'd set them up shared extreme likenesses with something he was very familiar with - spec series in motorsports. These series feature identical cars in an effort to be a true competition of driver skill, and the Warreners already resemble the body and performance spec of many entry-level touring car series. He knew he had to start pushing this idea on more people, for this could be the next big step for proper racing in this city.

He was waiting for the right time to host the next Warrener night, and found it on the same day Burnout Nation hosted their races at the import docks. The city had evidently been slow taking down the barriers from the track, and when he went back the next day the track was still intact with barriers. The event brought enough people into town that he had no trouble finding enough of his clubmates to fill out the cars - he also managed to convince his favorite contact in Burnout, Don, to come give them a go.

    35816cd25d144dd9908ad04533df204b.jpg

Baxter ran the group through a few practice laps, learning the track in a new car himself and pointing out the differences between these and the Elegies to the folks doing the same. These cars honestly felt so much nicer to driver around these roads, as they handled bumps far better ((and since they're slower, the desync is waaayyyy more manageable!)).

The racing was close and a load of fun!

    xzw7zwU.gif

And almost most importantly, this night saw Jason get his first win with the boys! Baxter was embarrassed by his mistake, but happy to congratulate his friend nonetheless.

It was the eve of Matt and Niki's wedding, and Baxter, being one of Matt's groomsmen, wanted to make it a memorable night for Matt. He had a plan that safely combined a staple of bachelor parties - BOOZE! - with his and Matt's biggest interest - cars. He would get 4 stock Warreners, fit them with roll cages and race seats, and host races in tracks relatively off the beaten path. Low End was frustratingly lacking in Warreners at the time, as were Atomic and Motorsport... Thankfully, Heavyflow had exactly 4 at the time.

    WarrenerGANG.thumb.jpg.5d84002e1b72f0035f2eea9a1bae8528.jpg

He might have decided to get cute with other upgrades while he was hauling them back and forth from LSC...

With the help of Tommy, Baxter hauled the Warreners out to Garbage and hid them down on the beach for the hour leading up to the get-together.

    WarrnerPreview.png.a7d8482ec2ed49d8c12de0143b32a914.png

When it was time, Baxter met up with Matt, blindfolded him, and drove him to Garbage to reveal the surprise. As you'd expect, Matt was extremely skeptical of the idea, thinking it would be lame. But once the booze started flowing, the inhibitions were lowered and the fun was on! The streets were clear, the seatbelts were on, and the green flag waving! The fun was short-lived however, as after a couple laps the cars were in dire need of repair (much as you'd expect...). A mechanic was called, and Niki decided to ride along with the mechanic from LSC. They pulled up in the middle of the filler entertainment that Tommy called in while the cars were being repaired, and well...

(In case the video is removed by youtube for copyright: https://streamable.com/5a5gnc)

So the night ended a little early, but fun was had, Baxter still owns the cars, and with proper planning and advertising they could become quite the attraction for Underground, both internally and externally!

  14. Issue Being Reported: I'd like to change my display name from Baxter Verstetten to "Speed Racer."

Date and Time of Issue (provide timezone): September 10, 2020 3pm UTC

    Your characters name: Baxter Verstetten

    Other player(s) involved: n/a

Evidence and/or notes worth mentioning: I wasn't quite sure what I was getting into when I made my forum account, but now that I'm getting more active on here I'd like to generalize my display name and not have it attached to my character necessarily. Hope this request is possible, thanks for your time!

  15.

Nothing in the rules stops you from remembering death, you just treat that death as a random person dying rather than remembering names.

Most commonly for LEO's we just mentioned deceased officers/gang member/etc, but we do not go by names.

The only person that has to forget the death, is the person who died.

Looks like I've misinterpreted the rule then and there's not much discussion to be had 😂 lmao

Feel free to archive at your discretion I guess.
