Some Examples? from my point of view when I worked as a mechanic the job was repetitive and monotonous as hell. the only fun came from the social aspect which applies to all jobs. what different aspects? besides doing mods or repairs the only real variance of gameplay is Roadside but with so few mechanics getting roadside out is rare as heck and its never for parking violations, only for callouts.

Frankly, one shouldn't presume a language barrier. Role Play is what you make of it as they say and isn't boring to everyone just because you say so. You worked at LSC for a short time which then you would have to join said Roadside division should you have chosen to do so to focus primarily on roadside repairs where there was an option to go out on roadside looking for repairs etc or taking the mechanic requests providing there were enough mechanics still in the shop allowing those to partake in all sorts of RP which can ever so literally lead to all types of "organic" interactions and socializing along the way. If you choose to just sit in the shop and do repetitive monotonous RP, join HR, or PR that was your choice to do so. Whereas, Bayview all that become part of that faction are trained for roadside mechanic requests and can do them. Otherwise, the faction members also have the option of being involved in every division should they choose to apply to do so. The two factions are not at all ran the same from the top down. I've had the opportunity to be part of both factions and there are considerable differences in the two in very many ways beyond the ignorance that the only organic RP can be had from doing roadside interactions.

Not everyone chooses mechanic RP to sit with a speaker and hang out with their pals in or outside a shop motivated solely for easy $$$. There have been a few posts about what people think about the mechanics or lack thereof, when most people choose it just for a paycheck starting out. Some like myself enjoyed role playing fixing cars and occasionally being a mildly menacing mechanic along with some customers as well as fellow mechanics and also enjoyed providing something that was beneficial to the server as a whole like ever so literally being a member of the community that would answer all kinds of questions far beyond any mechanic duties. There have been many people that my thinking outside the box saved them from the side of chiliad, not just their cars. Some actually spend some thought on their particular character arc's beyond having a chill time with the homies. I could have just as soon had my own welcome to the city office which I ever so literally joked ICly with Lewis about. I personally enjoyed interacting with new members of the community answering all of their questions about how to navigate gov website and where to find things and do stuff often not including their interest in becoming mechanics in between repairs, without having to join a faction doing some RP job sitting in a box doing "paperwork", which I already had plenty of experience with and very little actual RP thus chose not to do that anymore.

If you personally need examples, I was a customer once with Liam and he RPly found a slice of pizza under the hood my ass picked it up and took a bite and he was looking up a repair in a manual while I RPly did the repair. It was enjoyable RP for us that doesn't mean it will be enjoyable for everyone. It's all what you make of it if you aren't motivated by money and genuinely want to role play. I've also menacingly dropped wrenches in peoples engines and oops left them there.  For someone that chose to be a mechanic for a relatively short period of time, likely for an easy paycheck in their minds, I would presume they never really wanted to do mechanic RP in the first place and simply looked at it as an easy payday for the short term goals whereas I solely created a character who I ever so literally developed the arc to be a mechanic and had no desire to join other factions on that character despite attempts by others for me to join other legal factions.

compare this to say, the duties of someone in MD, or PD, or DOC. all of those jobs have opportunities for RP that is varied, interesting and above all, Organic. with parties able to take RP in multiple directions. Mechanic jobs dont have that.

What you personally consider fun or enjoyable may be something completely different than what is enjoyable to the next person. I completely disagree that there is no opportunity for any organic varied RP, especially at Bayview where I was a faction member for 17 months. Nor was there no opportunity for organic RP at MPT when it was a thing and didn't even have access to towing. I pushed many cars across the city to MPT to repair them for people when no one was taking mechanic requests. Just because that wouldn't be funny or enjoyable to you, it was to those that witnessed such shenanigans like that of watching someone push the commander of SD's Kamacho down a street for a repair and end up with a whole crowd RPing together along the way. There will never be any two "point of views" that are exactly the same. Mechanic RP simply was not boring at all to me. I had tons of enjoyable interactions both mechanic RP wise and hundreds of various interactions because of choosing that RP.

This isn't a counterpoint, its core to the problem. if the RP has reached a level where neither the person doing it nor the person receiving it gives a shit, its just busywork for the sake of it

Me stating that very few care that you enjoy doing that RP and even less notice that you enjoy doing it is because they don't. In the event someone does notice you thoroughly enjoy that RP, well that still doesn't matter when you are merely a small fish in the big pond and not trying to be a contestant in some popularity contest.

When I quit mechanic RP it certainly wasn't because I was bored with the RP. I had many reasons both IC and OOC for doing so. In saying that, None of which were because I was bored with mechanic RP. I've had many friends come and go for similar reasons.  My personal opinion is that saying it being a beginner job is it's only saving grace is only true because the faction leaders and management of those factions choose to not recognize which individuals aren't looking at those jobs like stepping stones to their other goals whether it be criminal in nature RP or simply to gain experience in order to join other legal factions that require a bit more experience in the server.

Being uncertain that you were around at a time when we had a packed Pier every single day all hours the place was busy. When they "killed the pier" so to speak, the mechanic shops ever so literally became the new social hubs, way back then, aside from the people that found other more enjoyable places to go fishing or hang out and chill with their friends and acquaintances. Every change that has been made many of us have adjusted in some fashion experienced the growing pains such as the current situation with LSC and with mechanics in general many of us have seen before and will likely see again.

With a stable leader, you have a base to build. LSC needs not just a leader with ideas but probably a leader with friends. Make that shop into a community of people.

I fully agree with this. However, I don't really agree they need a pay increase near as much as you need a leader and people that genuinely enjoy that sort of RP, unmotivated by personal gain and are looking to do that long term in the community, to take on that responsibility.

@Bala Always has pretty good insight on a great deal of topics and his suggestions he has given would certainly help for those that find the RP boring as is. However, to me personally when people suggest that money talks, what I envision is, would be a job attracting more people that do not even enjoy mechanic RP at all just for that paycheck. If that's the case hell they can make close to 20k an hour driving a garbage truck if they become efficient at it.

At the end of the day, if you choose someone to lead a faction that doesn't really thoroughly enjoy that sort of RP to begin with, without the need for all sorts of additional bells and whistles that would prefer to be focusing their characters and time elsewhere, we will just end up repeating what has already been done many times before, just different actors same roles.

If we are talking about root causes, I have to agree that mechanic jobs are among the most boring/irritating. I do not think its a monetary issue. Mechanics already make bank. they don't need a raise. they make about as much as any government employee.

The mechanic job and RP is not boring for everyone. There are some that have genuinely enjoyed mechanic RP and that weren't so concerned about the pay. I personally enjoyed it and at one point was a member of both Bayview and MPT simultaneously simply because I enjoy the different aspects of what is possible. To be perfectly honest, very few care that you enjoy doing that RP and even less notice that you enjoy doing it. If you are an individual that enjoys that RP and works their way up in rank ICly for actually putting in the work there is very little reward(not talking $$) for someone that doesn't make other events, characters or other IC jobs their priority.

Yes, you have. High-Ranking members of both the Los Santos Police Department and the Los Santos Sheriff's Department met with Governor Langley directly after Sheriff Kirk was informed that deliberately concealing information from a Government Official conducting a lawful investigation into John is a crime. Less than 48 hours later I was unilaterally placed on Administrative Leave by the same Governor, this is AFTER two independent Judges lawfully denied search warrants for my phone and bank records. This is the definition of obstruction of justice, bringing bogus allegations based on rumours and completely legal, ethical and fully justified financial transactions.

But did Governor Langley's frat boy bestie Cyrus Carver LSPD(while on duty) ask you if the carpet matches the drapes while on duty? Asking for a friend?

Criminal Features:  Dark web implementation.  This would come with multiple features, such as being hidden behind an encrypted entry puzzle that would have to be solved by gathering information via bribes or intimidation from various turf NPC's throughout the city.  However if PD/IB catches whiff of the Dark Web, they would be able to access it themselves through the same encryption puzzle or through a laptop that has already accessed the Dark Web and shut it down temporarily.  After a while, the NPC's would start business up again and open a new site that would generate a new puzzle to solve to gain access.  Once a user has gained access to the Dark Web, they would have access to a website that acts as a form of anonymous messaging, meant to be primarily used as a means of selling illegal weapons and drugs from player to player.  There could also be a hacking system implemented, using the many hacking scripts that are already implemented in GTA and GTA:O, such as these:

+1  With the huge influx of adding new cameras all over the city...at all the apartments and key points of interest on particular streets and bridges strategically being placed in the past few months and likely more to come. After over 2 years, I think this suggestion is definitely unique and more relevant than ever before.

For both civilians and criminals alike, I believe the RP possibilities to be endless. Law enforcement already having access to utilizing the laptops to gain CCTV footage mean that it would be highly possible to incorporate something similar for the rest of the population as laptops have been around for quite sometime.

Whether it be just a normal civilian looking after their own properties, plain old curiosity, an amateur with a computer hacking mindset that has been flying under the radar with more sinister plans in mind to cause interference with government entities or other citizens whom have gotten on their bad side or the obvious known criminals gathering intel on opposing gangs or Law Enforcement Officers or planning larger long planned out schemes and heists. Just as the original poster mentions encrypted puzzles, perhaps, to gain access to CCTV via the laptops or the ability to cause interference with the cctv system at a chosen camera location for a brief period of time or maybe the ability to cut power on certain locations or areas of the city for a brief period.

I feel, as they are already operable to law enforcement, this to be something that should be able to be accessed for more than just placing orders or things of that nature or just be a piece of furniture for the average citizen.

Any input on this I believe to be a benefit to us all and creating a great deal of RP we are missing out on.  Thanks for your time!

  5. I guess I will just add my two cents here since most of my time on the server now pretty much solely is just this. Mechanic RP is all what you are allowed to make of it. Over a year now(16 months), I have been doing mechanic RP as a Bayview mechanic. Also, worked simultaneously at MPT with another character and clearly it was not about making money there, as it was all about the RP and interactions. Some people don't find mechanic RP boring and choose to do that. The ones that do find it boring, without thinking everyday there needs to be a dj and a club party, are really in my own personal opinion those that often apply to those RP jobs because well they simply look at it as easy money or just an experience stepping stone gaining some RP experience to their next goal to RP in another department or can't do other jobs because of their past criminal records which has been changing lately due to the reform type opportunities at DOC, so of course it will not be that thrilling.

Ever tried to be a menacing mechanic and patch up an SD Cruisers' bullet holes with bubblegum? then you just haven't been living. Got that one customer who is a royal pain in your backside? "accidentally" drop a wrench in their motor and "oops! can't find it"  It is RP after all and why not find ways of making some entertainment while you are at it. Shout out to Liam Binnie who menacingly removed some parts, then RP’d looking up in a repair manual how to repair a vehicle, while I got out and RP’d performing repairs after he sent the invoice. Or the guy that said I would find a slice of pizza under the hood, to which I picked it up and took a bite. Some people also actually pay attention to the RP you are doing, and find fun ways to create that entertainment back and forth with you.

I think sitting at speed traps for a few hours straight is boring then get in that one 20 minute pursuit that everyone joins in JTAC then there are no officers because everyone is chasing that same person then repeat. I go on tons of ride a longs and sometimes it is pretty repetitive other times a few select people take their RP up many notches (adding more than pull over, remove the mask and lemme see that license, hands them a ticket, or chase the evader) to make it enjoyable. Not everyone wants to RP a gov paper pushing job either.

Simply put, there are so many different people with varying ideas of how to make something entertaining and using a little creativity for it not to be the same old repetitive interaction regardless of the job without being forced to do so. I find that it also would help individuals express themselves and their character arcs, how they choose to RP their individuality in customer service and how they RP the jobs vs. feeling like they could just as soon be replaced with robots or automated services.

+1 I cannot afford anymore my 500$ donuts

@Nicholas Valentine I really don't wanna deal with anymore /b than there is right now, last thing I need is someone already pissed off saying "wawaa you're arresting me just to get those extra 100$, get a life, nerf PD"

Well, sure is a good thing those departments drive vehicles all day and night that don't receive speed camera tickets even when there isn't an emergency...So we all know you can afford them donuts with all that money you saved not getting tickets. And, you can always drive the garbage truck for about $16k an hour if you need a part time side gig that pays more so you can stock up! 🤣

I think the salary cap in government jobs is fine as is. A good to way to achieve the differentiation between higher ranking members would be to slightly lower the salary at certain spots.

Example: Instead of having Assistance Chief of Police and Chief of Police at the same salary level. Have CoP at 8,000$ and Ass. CoP at 7.950, etc...

If anything, I think the focus should be on the way Eclipse handles taxes, which seriously needs an overhaul both in terms of the bracket percentages and how the server calculates total wealth.

I would be inclined to say I would have to fully agree with Cyrus Raven on this one that the taxes perhaps should be reevaluated and the determining of the wealth calculations. It really doesn't take long at all to get into the top tax bracket. A couple of crappy cars, maybe a 3G house, and the next paycheck you are up there.

  7. +1 Buggs I agree
Now for me I personally have only ever just visited DOC. However, even for things that are somewhat related aside from prison times such as a license being suspended for 1 day, that to my knowledge is an actual OOC day or 24 hours not 1 minute like prison times. I have never had my own license suspended but find people ask me a whole lot of questions IC about similar things and why that is 1 day OOC but DOC is this way? And all I can do is respond OOCly with referring them to the prison times information and a brief statement about me not being the one that makes these decisions I am just a player just like them and that would be a good question for the forums etc.   So, I find from a different perspective of sorts there are times in which the balance between this being a game and trying to be realistic this would be one in which a compromise would actually make the role play go a bit smoother.

  8. I actually have a property in Chumash which has a gate that is well within the building parameters, not far from the door, that has had what sounds like the same if not quite similar issues. I could not see the furniture indicator that allowed me to lock or unlock the gate. Chunder looked at this as well way back when. After some time and a bit of monkey business, ever so literally hopping around, saw a mere glimpse of the furniture indicator. I found after tons of practice, I can lock and unlock it if I want to spend a half hour looking for the indicator, but seems like just the spot is buggy.  It was kind of a fluke hopping around from a couple meters away off a roof of a car if I remember correctly toward it that I caught a glimpse of the indicator after giving up.  To be clear, I can only find this furniture indicator again if I am a bit of a distance away at a weird angle and umm not on the ground.

  9. Actually, I believe there was an update not long ago such that guns and several other items can no longer be stored in the vending machines. I believe the gun might have dropped onto the floor and most likely underneath the vending machine. I recall there being another post( a refund request if i can recall) about this recently right after the update.

    With Seasons Come Change

Bayview had a long Fall season up in Paleto Bay, loaded with lots of ups and downs. As Winter began moving in and all the bright white snow began to fall, it seemed far more than just the seasons had begun changing around Bayview. While for some, it seemed the atmosphere provided a sense of relief and satisfaction, Evan Okazaki and Francesca Romano noticed others appeared to be unfulfilled and lacking motivation, especially after a quick spreading fire nearly destroyed their beloved Bayview.

    QznMUiv.png

One cold, crisp, quiet Winter morning, as Evan and Francesca stood at the ledge watching as the gentle sparkling snowflakes fell around them, they began to discuss their observations and ponder what they could do to liven up the atmosphere for everyone. After days of conversation and contemplating how they could help boost the morale of the employees at Bayview and bring back the feeling of family, they thought they had a great idea!

    vvU6pM8.png

Together, they decided they were going to create a fun Christmas Card for everyone. They agreed something a bit fun and mischievous would give the rest a good laugh and lift their holiday spirits. After a bit more consideration, they chose to dress up as the one person, known by many to be fairly mischievous… Bear Okazaki. They quickly headed to the Paleto Bay Clothing Store, asked the clerk to assist with selecting the perfect outfits, and in no time they were handing over their money to the clerk and set out to find photo opportunities throughout the city.

    VTaMjAV.png

Before long, they realized the pictures they had accumulated were far too many, to fit on a simple photo collage greeting card. After realizing this project was growing faster than they had anticipated, Francesca suggested to Evan they instead make a fun Holiday video and try to get as many involved as possible. Evan agreed this was a great idea as many friends were already curious as to what they had been up to. Soon, they had several other employees, members of The Los Santos Sheriff's Department, the Department of Corrections, and citizens from all over agreeing to join in to help with their project. Evan and Francesca used every gathering and holiday party as an opportunity to spread the fun Holiday Spirit throughout the city.

    Yy5FhE2.png

After a few minor edits and additions, they were finally finished and took some time for themselves, to breathe in some fresh air, looking over the city in hopes that all of their recent shenanigans lifted a few spirits! Finally, as Christmas Day was upon them, they began to "wrap up" the gift of memories they had put together for everyone!

This year has been full of many challenges and uncertainty. Despite all of the hard times, we still managed to make a year full of great memories! It is our hope that 2023 will bring good fortune and health to all of our family, friends, and acquaintances in the ECRP Community! Happy Holidays From all of us at Bayview and Happy New Year!

While this is helpful, doesn't help if listening not mainstream songs

Like I said I personally for MYSELF have made "several different genre/variety playlists and saving them in Google Docs" this is a tiny cut out of one doc with well over a hundred songs. I have more than a dozen playlists for different occasions. What I shared was an example of what could be done. It would be up to you or any other individual to create your own list or lists to suit your personal tastes.
Even if the song isn't the most mainstream, most songs are still available on YouTube(If you can find the song on YouTube it doesn't matter how mainstream it is or not) and simply just copy and paste the link. Really nothing more to it and you have the songs you personally want there. And it's easy as pie.
Once you have it, it's there. Once in a while a link for a song that is listened too millions and millions of times might need to be refreshed but that's not too often.

  12. +1 Especially with all the properties individuals have requested of various types of restaurants there should be different foods available. I do understand the reasons for opening and the RP at Burger Shot was intended to be a good one but I also believe people shouldn't have to just hunt for the foods for their individually owned establishments. Sure some of it.

However, it doesn't make sense for people to open restaurants then buy from Burger Shot to then sell at their restaurants things like fries, or Burgers, etc. And even Taco places. They shouldn't have to get a Taco Truck or buy tacos with only a limited amount of Tacos to stock a restaurant or purchase from Burger Shot Restaurant to then sell at their restaurants. There should be an ability to place orders for products and food options similar to how the stores order inventory for their products.

With such a variety of player owned restaurants providing a wide array of RP including food It's my opinion that we are long overdue for some added food variety.

    GoPostal

Give some QoL updates as mentioned above to ensure that the driver knows how many packages are going to the address they are going to. Maybe find a way to allow players to send things through the mail to each other? This could allow fun ways for people to give gifts or send things to each other.

If I am not mistaken, I believe being able to send item to others is already possible. Or at least used to be. I know there used to be at lease one location I knew of in the city, as well as one postal location that i was aware of in Chumash Plaza, which you could send things to others. I remember testing it once. If that is still a thing perhaps advertising for the service or the locations could be done. I thought it would be kind of entertaining if people got notifications like your "package is out for delivery" when something is being delivered to their address. Not really sure how the script works but I can only assume it is random. I have delivered to houses randomly where people were home at the time. But, if a notification was made to them that a delivery was headed to their address might encourage some RP there as well?
