Xiao Dynasty

🇨🇳

Lowly Rice Farmers

The Xiao family first emerged in Huating County (华亭县), a rural settlement east of Suzhou, centuries before it would be known as Shanghai.

Rooted deep into the history of Shanghai, becoming a family of rice farmers under the rule of Emperor Taizong of Tang (626 AD - 649 AD).

The family began as lowly rice farmers, providing food for the local village. They became highly respected within the community allowing them to create relationships with people out of reach to the average citizen. These relationships that were formed would prove integral to the eventual rise of the Xiao family.

Many generations of the family would continue this work, with more influence in the community came more land. The family had a monopoly on rice farming in Shanghai by 900 AD, providing employment for hundreds of people.

As the Xiao family’s landholdings grew, so did their responsibility over the citizens of the village. During periods of disaster, such as flooding or famine, the Xiao family stepped in where local officials did not. They recognised their duty to ensure the survival of their people and they did not shy away.

Recognition and Respect

Over the generations, the focus shifted for the Xiao family. They had done the hard work in the fields and took the opportunity to progress as a family, the younger members of the family were taught everything there was to know about rice farming. Turning knowledge into leverage was something the family understood and acted on.

The upcoming knowledgable generation allowed the Xiao family to transform from just 'lowly rice farmers', to high profile figures in early China. Not just providing rice for the community, but providing help, protection, and hope.

This shift in the Xiao narrative and responsibility had enabled the family to be recognised by government officials as an honourable family.

The first meeting between the Xiao family and government officials came when the Xiao were invited to be formally recognised for their efforts in 1137 AD.

A Trusted Name

Following their recognition in 1137 AD, the Xiao family turned a new page. While they held no official rank within the Chinese government, their role within Huating County became strongly established. Officials now relied on the Xiao family for accurate assessments of harvests, collection of tax, and the movement of product.

The Xiao were finally reaping the true rewards of their rice farming.
During periods of unrest and the transitions through rulers, the family chose stability over ambition. They preserved their records, relationships, and wealth, to allow for security across generations. This allowed the family to survive the collapse of empires and the arrival of new powers without losing their standing.
By the 19th century, the Xiao family had survived and remained quietly influential within China. The country had gone through many changes, yet the family’s role had not. They continued their work within the Chinese government, gathering information, and maintaining family honour.

Beyond China

As China entered the twentieth century, the Xiao family once again adapted to a changing world. Political upheaval, foreign influence, and internal conflict reshaped the nation, but the family remained consistent in its approach.

Members of the Xiao family pursued education, commerce, and overseas opportunities. Some travelled abroad as traders, students, and business figures, establishing roots beyond China’s borders while maintaining ties at home. These foreign connections provided the family with new perspectives and access to increasingly valuable information in a globalising world.

Following the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, the Xiao family’s long history of cooperation and discretion did not go unnoticed. Their overseas presence, cultural understanding, and ability to operate quietly within foreign systems aligned with the needs of the state. Once again, the family found itself working within a larger structure.

By 2025, the Xiao family’s reach extended far beyond Huating County. Operating through legitimate fronts and community ties, select members were sent to Los Santos. Their task was familiar, even after centuries: observe, integrate, and report back.

From rice fields to foreign streets, the Xiao family endured. Adapting to every era, every system, and every shift in power.

Back To The Old Ways
The family had been in town for a couple of weeks now, and have quickly realised they can't solely rely on cash injections from the [REDACTED]. This realisation led to a plan being formulated for stable income generation.

The family had decided they were going to go back to the old ways of their forefathers, and they were going to do what their family knew best: Providing food for others.

To achieve this goal a property was needed, a place to call home and a place to settle down. The family began looking around, asking people if they were aware of anywhere up for sale but this didn't yield many results.
Until one day
Xiao Pong was asking around at Benny's, only to be met by who he would later find out to be Bruce Wong and Pete Wright. He was told to follow them, wary but intrigued he followed.

He was taken to a place, coincidentally the exact place the Xiao's had set up a temporary base of operations. Upon arrival Bruce Wong told Xiao Pong that he had an old property in his name that had been left abandoned for many moons, Bruce said he was happy to give the family keys to the property and free use.

The Xiao Family were incredibly grateful for this generous offer and took it up immediately, already envisioning exactly what they would do with this empty place.

City Wok
The family agreed upon a name for this restaurant, City Wok.

Xiao Mong got to work the very same night, being incredibly creative the family knew he was the right man for the job. He envisioned an oriental style Chinese restaurant and he most certainly delivered.

Being an empty shell of a property he had full creative freedom and worked countless hours to bring his vision to life, spending thousands of dollars on furniture and 2 days later, he finally completed the build.

XIAO WONG

image.thumb.png.1b560e62504166df61357f55cc1a5460.png

Supreme Leader

By the time you hear my name, it’s already too late to pretend you don’t know who I am. I am Xiao Wong supreme leader of the Xiao Dynasty.

I guide this family through not emotion but discipline and structure keeping brothers loyal and rewarded. Let those who work with me prosper and those who work against me be forgotten.

I'm not here to try and prove myself, I'm here to profit from ambition, maintain order of the chaos and find out who is useful to the Dynasty and who will fall short of the mark.

Id rather business over blood, friend over an enemy but still when push comes to shove my kindness cannot be taken as weakness. Wars aren't won by anger, they are won with patience, planning and timing. I don't start them unless I know how they will end.
