    The Shelbys

Jay Robertson was sat in a cell, this wasn't the first time he'd been here, but it was the first time he had been here long enough to take some time to think about his move to the city, and what it meant for his life moving forward. But we're getting ahead of ourselves, lets take this back to Jays first day in the city, and the story of The Pacifist. The Beginning Jay had arrived in the city with nothing but good intentions, he liked fast cars, shit chat, and women with loose morals. His first goal was to scope out the import scene to see what he would be cruising in for his time in the city. With an empty wallet and no job, he relied on whatever freelance work he could get, farming, servicing ATMs, and delivering parcels. He worked his way up to afford a crappy car to get him to and from his jobs, but the money was piss, and the grind was getting to him. Jay needed a way out. The Betrayal After only a few hours in the city, he was made an offer. A mysterious man wearing a mask in a black sports car pulled up next to him, asking if he wanted to make some quick cash. This was a no-brainer, and Jay did something he swore not to do lightly again, and trusted the un-named man. The plan as described was simple, in the trunk of the car, was a shipment of drugs that needed delivering, all that was needed was a lookout, and Jay figured that it wouldn't hurt to just let them know if someone was pulling up to the dropoff, so into the alley he went, checking the corners to give the all clear. Once he did however, the betrayal began... A gun was put to Jays head, and the simple command of, "Get in" was given. Fearing for his life, he got in the passenger seat of the car, with another man sitting in the back now. They kept Jay at gunpoint until arriving at a store out of town. Jay was made to get out the car, go to the teller, and whilst one man held him at gunpoint, he was to grab the cash. Somehow, LSPD showed up after only a couple of minutes! Saved! Jay thought, but alas, he had been set up, as soon as the sirens were heard, the two masked men dipped in the car, leaving Jay holding an armful of cash, and a teller pointing out some very incriminating footage. Despite Jays pleas, the cops refused to believe his story, so Jay got to experience his first look inside the DoC prison. The Family Jay was shaken, a stint in prison had him back on the line, farming, fishing, doing what needed to be done to upgrade from his crappy car. One sunny afternoon, Jay was headed to the Bank to pick up his paycheck, and whilst he was waiting, struck up a friendly conversation with a polite chap in a flatcap and overcoat. The conversation mostly revolved around cars, work, and Jays recent jail time, but after a while, Jay learned the mans name. Victor Shelby. Victor was helping Jay figure out his next steps in the city, and made a proposal. "Come meet the family, we could use someone like yourself" Jay, now with a record to his name, and nothing to lose in his wallet, decided to see what this offer was, so jumped in Victors car to meet The Family. Jay was driven to the scrapyard, and whilst he had nothing of value to steal, was still a little on edge, Victor told him that his family operated on respect, so having some common ground, Jay prepped himself for an unknown conversation. The meeting was more of an interview, but to Jays surprise, The Family seemed really keen to get him on board and working ASAP, Jack and Andy Shelby in particular, told Victor to get Jay into uniform ASAP, and put him to work. The Pacifist Jay quickly proved his worth to The Family, and impressed the High command so much that he quickly rose through the ranks, being seen as more of a strategist and advisor, than a heavy hitter, despite having put several unwanted guests at meetings down in his time. Somehow, Jay ended up receiving one of the highest honors that he could have received, he was taken to a location, and told take the Black Cap. Jay was stunned, the Black Cap was typically reserved for family members, and to have earned the trust of The Family was something Jay could now look back on with pride. The new cap wasn't just for show though, Jay was given more responsibility for our recruitment, legal matters, and diplomacy, which suited him fine, as he was looking to earn a gun license so he could distribute to some of the less legal family members. The Head Gangster, Liam, found this incredibly amusing, and gave Jay the nickname of "The Pacifist". The main goal for Jay, was getting The Family cash, a legal front was needed, and that came in the form of buying certain businesses around town, all which require that which everyone needs more of, cash. He was back to grinding, but with a higher purpose now, and a brand new car to his name that he could race, he was content. The Pen is Mightier than the Sword How about akis' shotgun? The Family was growing, and with that growth, came the watchful eyes of some of the other gangs in town, and even the LSPD. Some were friendly, some were neutral, some kept their distance. At first, they posed no issues to the family, and they continued their business of making money and giving out awful chat at the docks. Things however, were about to change. One such incident was after a meeting with The Void. A meeting had been called to establish neutrality between the two, and after a fruitful meeting, everyone was feeling pretty friendly. What the two crews didn't know however, was SWAT units were sat right outside the manor, waiting for the perfect time to strike, As people got into their cars, they stormed the manor, with assault rifles out and some already firing. Jay escaped with Liam in his car, speeding through a police blockade on the way out, and dipping down alleys until the coast was clear. "Jay, you just ran down a LSPD Captain at that roadblock"... Liam had been sat in the passenger seat, and in the commotion, noticed that in the haste to escape, Jay had hit the Captain and he was most likely dead. This put Jay on edge, his car was likely wanted, and its driver, Jay, along with it. He hid the car, and left it for a few hours to lay low, hoping the heat would die down. Unfortunately, Los Santos rarely let's things go to plan. The Upstarts A new crew in town, The Crimson Syndicate, had decided that The Family was encroaching on their turf, and gave some strong words to tell Shelbys to back off. This of course, wasn't going to happen. The Family had worked too hard to just give up territory to people who spoke of respect, but gave none in return. After a heated meeting with one of their High Command, the decision was war, helped along by taking the head of the HC who dared speak ill of the Shelby name. What started as a simple decision for Crimson, quickly turned out to be an error, with some of their men losing lives, hair, cars, or guns. Crimson quickly called another meeting, and begged for forgiveness and peace, with a cost of paying $1,000,000 to the Shelbys, and Explosion to split. After this meeting, Jay and Liam were pulling out of a parking garage, when 2 police cars lit their lights up to pull them over. Liam was in possession of an unlicensed firearm, and Jay was sat in a vehicle that only 1 day prior, had killed an LSPD captain. They sat in silence for what felt like an eternity. They could be running the plates, matching the description, calling in backup. Jay was running all the likely scenarios in his head... "We're leaving", Jay announced, and screeched away from the police. He didn't want himself or Liam getting caught on a routine traffic stop. The chase quickly escalated, dipping into the city, onto the highway, back into the city, and pulling 5 additional units into the chase, as well as someone Jay was hoping not to be in town... The Police Captain, driving a white super-car that glued to the back of him. After trying to dip down an alley, Jay clipped a bin, which seemed to get caught in the axle, grinding the car to a stop. Jay was going to prison. Rebirth Which brings us back to the beginning of our story, and arguably, the most important part. Jay now had a record, making a gun license nigh on impossible. With a lot of time to think about his future, and his role in the family, he made a decision. "The Pacifist" was dead... What came next, was still unknown.
