Figured. But I'm making sure capitals are used as they were at the time of registering. I've just logged in again using exactly the same 'rejected' credentials. It seems quite unusual.

Strangely, when using the correct credentials (I'm 100% sure of this, including capitalization), logging in does not always work. 95% of the time it throws back a "Account with this password and name does not exist", but it does. Eventually, without even changing the details in the fields, it'll allow the login to pass. But when this happens is really inconsistent. Sometimes it works first time, other times it takes in excess of 20 minutes to join because of this. Perhaps there is an issue with the account? Or somehow resetting the credentials might fix this, despite them being entered correctly. Evidence, notes worth mentioning, steps to replicate:
