Lucyna Kushinada Posted July 7, 2024 Report Posted July 7, 2024 (edited) This was just a conversation thought that was brought up to me today, but I believe its an interesting concept. Married couple tend to go out into the city and work together to fund their ideas together, whether that be vehicles, properties, or businesses. By this point in most people's lives in the city, they are sitting within the 35% tax bracket (15% if they don't have much money, but enough in assets to raise them to that point). With a joint income household, obviously there is potentially double the income, but that typically comes at both individuals sacrificing 35% of their income each, which especially can impact loans and affording things together, which becomes even more difficult if anything happens out of the city that drags one or both of the people to not being able to fly in and work. I believe that for married couples, 20%-25% per person, regardless of their net worth, would be fair. Of course, there will be people who attempt to abuse this system, but there could always be ways to nullify this, such an an exp requirement or marriage length requirement, like a month of being married or an application for both parties to fill out together. This may seem unfair, but I believe that it opens more opportunities for couples in the city that require a large amount of savings, or even loans. Edited July 7, 2024 by Lucyna DuPont 1 1 Quote
