Powergaming (PG) Powergaming is playing unfairly through not allowing other players a chance to roleplay responses and their own actions, unrealistic actions, or non-factual statements in /do. Forceful commands should be used after RP or the party is unresponsive for 30 seconds. Government funded faction members must go off duty when not performing faction duties IC. Players must capture time stamped evidence performing RP that will potentially influence future interactions and evidence is only valid for 48 hours, death, or until others RP invalidates it. 9. Non-Roleplay (NRP) Actions that are unrealistic or promote poor quality roleplay are considered as non-roleplay. Players are required to remain IC at all times. RP can only be paused or voided by admins. If a crash / disconnect occurs, players must post in the crash reports discord channel and contact all parties to resume. Players reconnecting must be given all opportunities held prior. Players should not instigate situations they do not have time to play through. If a player is chased they must wait 15 minutes before they can log out of the game. Players can’t depict their character with real images or game images not possible on ECRP. Examples: Ignoring RP, baiting government services without proper IC reason, asking to be killed or forcing your own death, unrealistic stunt jumping, misusing expensive vehicles, using script work vehicles for other purpose, submerging any vehicle in water intentionally, swimming for an unrealistic amount of time in a chase, or stealing from / tampering with an OOC F4 menu. Non-off road vehicles may not drive up mountains or steep hills. LSEMS & Mechanics are exempt. How did the player break the rule(s)? About 30 minutes before the screen shots taken below, ID 32 had shoved me and tased me, also giving demands which then granted DM rights to me. 30 minutes after ID 32 and Rex Djarin were stood at my cell door taken a photo so I decided to reach through the bars and attempt to strangle ID 32. ID 32's response was "kick's leg through bars" this gave me no description of if it was before I tried to strangle or after. Doug Grovesnor then asks her OOCLY how would ID 32 see me grabbing her through the bars, and ID 32 decided not to respond OOCLY but just decided to change the RP without allowing me to respond as I was assuming ID 32 would respond to us OOC'ly. ID 32 then RP's "shoves elbow through the cell bars so he lets go". I then begin to ask OOC'ly how she would be able to hit me through the bars while being choked and also I asked "how would you gain enough force to make me let go as wouldn't the bars stop the rotation of your elbow?" ID 32 then responded saying "respond to RP or its voided" ID 32 also was also rushing me into responding by saying "respond or I will assume that you let go." the screen shots below will show how ID 32 also powergamed by RP'ing "shoves elbow through the cell bars so he lets go". ID 32 then just walks away after saying "respond or I will assume that you let go". If someone grabbed someone else through the bars of a cell, then their first reaction would be to kick or elbow them. I responded with the kick and received no response in return. If someone else did OOCly ask if I saw him then I didn't see. I did to as though he did successfully grab me, even in voice chat when another officer entered the cellblock. He gave no response to either of those. I then changed it and said that I would shove my elbow through the cell bars to get him to let go. He OOCly said that it wouldn't be possible for me to do that. He had reached through the bars with a male character which means his arms fit through the bars. Why are the bars suddenly too thin to allow my character to try to elbow him through them? After giving him several chances to respond to either rp, I walked away from the situation since it wasn't enjoyable for either party due to his inconsistent rp. I'm not sure if his inconsistencies can be classified as powergaming or non-rp but he didn't want to rp fairly and he took too long to respond to either of my rp attempts even though I gave him much longer than the required 30 seconds to respond. When he failed to respond for so long IC I assumed that one of my attempts worked and walked away. Please note that any time I say "void rp" I am referring to force rp due to the other party not responding. I will be changing my wording on this in the future to avoid confusion like this. If he does have video evidence then you would see that I did wait much longer than needed for his responses as well as using voice chat to ask another officer for assistance because he grabbed me. I am very sorry but I used snipping tool about just after the event, after that I attempted to us Radeon instant replay but it recorded my other monitor. I am sorry for that, what I meant was the rotation of your elbow not the size of it. as there was a horizontal bar going across the cell just above elbow height, which I feel should have stopped your elbow from getting through the bars. I would also like to say that would it not be unfair just to RP going straight through the bars as there would surly be a chance of you hitting a bar as your elbowing blindly backwards while most likely struggling to breath due to being strangled, The same would go for the kicking I assume. I would also like to mention the way @UrbanGhost wrote the RP it looked to me and to the other bystanders that it was just straight powergaming, and so I went to /b to talk about it and get it mended as I find it unfun to be in an RP scenario where one party is just forcing me into a scenario (letting go in this instance). I would also like to mention how after @UrbanGhost had walked away from the scenario (apparently breaking free) I was completely ignored and there was no reoccurrence from @UrbanGhostor any other DOC guard at the scenario, this made me Doug_Grovesnor and Rex_Djarin believe that @UrbanGhost had completely voided the RP as normally that would resolve in a solitary sentence or being locked in a cell, neither of these happened and I was let out from the gym a few minutes after the scenario ended. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
UrbanGhost Posted June 17, 2021 Report Share Posted June 17, 2021 If you pulled me against the cell bars like you said, then I would feel the bars against my back. The horizontal bar is more or less at waist level (I will be rechecking this when I'm online later to double check) so it wouldn't block an elbow from going through. If I shoved it straight back through cell bars then there would be no rotation needed, just a bent arm and shoving back through the bars. I did change the kick to the elbow action since the elbow would have had a better chance of hitting where as the kick could have resulted in kicking the bar or getting a foot stuck post-kick. In any scenario where someone says their action, you do have the opportunity to say for instance that the elbow would hit you but it would only make you grip tighter as you flinch. I'm still learning proper rp practice so I do often forget to add something like /do would the elbow hit him? That part is on me and I will work on including it more in the future. After I walked away I did let another officer know you attacked me. I then went off duty. I was not aware that you did not receive any kind of punishment for attacking an officer. I was unaware of how the scenario ended after I left the cellblock. It sounds to me as if there were just a lot of misunderstood rp in the scenario between us. I'd be more than happy to do a replacement scenario when you're locked up again. To make it fair we can roll for dice with actions like my shoving my elbow through the bars to see if it is successful or if it hits the bars and other possible chance actions like that. We can also make sure next time that the other party understands what is meant by not being able to fit the elbow through the bars since we both had different interpretations of that, which is what ultimately lead to this scenario playing out like it did. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We are unable to prove that the player was power gaming. As we don't have a time scale to were he was forcing the rp. In addition he only wanted to ignoring the rp due to the fact that the reporting party was originally seeming to be unresponsive. This decision is final.
