How did the player break the rule(s)?

Found someone breaking into my bike, I held him at gun point and allowed him to finish the current bobby pin as i know you cant stop once started. while i had a gun to him at close range he pulled his gun and shot me.

Hello and thank you for making the report @XelaXD.

Player ID 145 - Rizzo_Collins - please explain why you started shooting after being placed under FearRP when you were in a vulnerable state (picklocking).

The aforementioned player has 24 hours to respond to their respective inquiry, or the report may be concluded without their response.

Sincerely,

alexalex303

There's a bug with the comment /stoppicklocking, I tried to do that and it didn't work and I had a pistol in my hand, you can check the logs if you want to see that I am not lying, I saw him a long time before he came to me and aimed his pistol at me.
Then after he already aimed at me I had nothing to do (because of a bug in the script) because the animation of the lock picking wouldn't stop.
This whole scenario could have been prevented if the bug in the script didn't exist.
I  honestly think that this was a misunderstanding, I don't mind refunding him the stuff that he lost while he died, but I honestly don't think that I should be punished for it.
If that bug in the script didn't exist I would aim forward to him before he would aim at me.

Do you have any evidence such as a video recording from your point of view?

just to add, ive tested it in game and while picklocking you pull your gun out instantly. in the clip you can see Rizzo_Collins pull his gun about 2 seconds after mine is already aimed at him meaning even if he couldnt stop pick locking he started to pull his gun after mine had been aimed at him for a full 2 seconds.

I'd like to start by apologizing for the delay in the resolution of the report. This was caused by the extensive testing that was done in-game, plus deliberation with other staff members, all in the interest of reaching a decision that was fair to all parties.

After the testing, and careful deliberation, I have decided upon the following:

Rizzo_Collins - will receive an admin note that he was spoken to about timers.

To explain the decision, context is needed. Somewhat recently, the command /stoppicklocking was removed from the server, as the new timer system was implemented into lock picking. However when you begin lock picking a vehicle, the server still prompts you to type the (now invalid) command. This means that if you lack experience with the system, you can quite literally be stuck in the action, when you wish to leave it. Upon checking server logs, the player did in fact type the invalid command, before the attacker ever laid eyes on him. We consider this to be an OOC issue, as realistically you wouldn't forget how to stop lock picking.

With the above in mind, I do not, personally, feel comfortable in punishing the player, and instead have decided to void the roleplay. For future reference, the correct way to stop picklocking, and in fact, to stop any new timer is to press ESC.

If your losses fit the criteria listed under refund requests, you can make a refund request for your items.

Sincerely,

alexalex303
