Specific rule(s) broken:

7. IC and OOC Interactions

  • Players are required to remain in-character (IC) at all times.

  • Text chat, VOIP, radio, phone and commands like /ME and /do are to be used only for IC content.

  • IC content must not contain acronyms like “lol” or “u” or smiley faces excluding IC SMS.

  • For OOC content, players must use chat commands that encase the content in brackets. For example: (( this is OOC content )). OOC chat commands are /OOC, /O, /B, /PM and /F.

  • OOC videos or screenshots can be used as IC evidence only if the footage contains the character using the /RECORD command to hold a phone in their hand.

  • Property interiors can have cameras only if the owner roleplays installation and takes time stamped screenshots with the camera angle as evidence. Exteriors only if there is an object.

  • You may roleplay a hidden camera, wire, or dash cam in a vehicle if recordings are unedited and include roleplay starting and ending. Attempts to search must be answered truthfully in /do.

  • Sexual, torture, or extremely gross roleplay is allowed only if all involved parties (participants and witnesses) have agreed to it in OOC text chat, prior to the actual roleplay being performed.

  • Only administrators are allowed force pause RP or investigate rule breaches.

  • Only administrators are allowed to void roleplay scenarios at their discretion.

  • Players are welcome to voice their opinion but should never disobey administrators.

  • A /REPORT does not pause roleplay unless an admin does so.

11. Powergaming (PG)

  • Forceful roleplay that does not give the other player a chance to roleplay their own response is considered powergaming. Other players must be given a chance to roleplay outcomes of actions.

  • Roleplay of unrealistic actions like super strength is another form of powergaming.

  • All statements in /DO must be factually true in the roleplay as it sets grounds for roleplay.

  • Roleplay is required before forceful server commands which may be used without consent from the other party if they are unresponsive and not typing for 30 seconds or more.

  • A player cannot use the faction management script to destroy a faction as it is OOC.

  • Government funded faction members must not abuse the salary system and must go off-duty when they are not performing their faction duties.

15. Player Theft, Prison Breakout, and Kidnapping

  • Players cannot force their victims to withdraw money from an ATM, sell property, or sell vehicles.

  • Players cannot force their victims to hand over assets that are not present in the area.

  • Players cannot steal from players with “NEW PLAYER” above their head unless it is in retaliation.

  • Players with the (( NEW PLAYER )) tag that deliberately insert themselves into or start active crime scenes lose their new player protection during those illegal activities.

  • Players may not steal from their faction treasury as the F4 menu is OOC.

  • Permission for prison break must be approved by a Moderator+ prior to the attempt.

  • Players may participate in no more than 1 prison break attempt within 1 OOC week.

  • Official Factions may attempt 2 additional breaks in the case the prisoner is the faction leader.

  • Players are allowed to kidnap or to take other players hostage for these specific reasons:

• You have to have a roleplay reason to kill the victim in accordance with the a, b, and c points under DM section.

• If you attempt to commit robbery of a property, you are allowed to hold the players within that property until you have finished the robbery. An NPC is not a valid hostage.

• If a hostage situation involves police in any way all of players involved in holding the hostage may not take another hostage for 1 OOC week.

How did the player break the rule(s)?

I was picklocking a car, then suddenly those players showed up. They pointed their guns at me, and ID 23 (might be other one, im not sure as I started recording a bit late, guess can be checked in logs by staff.) came and instantly zip-tied me without any RP. Then they frisked me and so on, after that they wanted to take my pistol off me, but couldn't as I was zip-tied and couldn't drop my gun. Also they reacted to /b OCC chat using voice. (Can be seen in video). As the action went on, they decided to kidnap me without any proper reason ( Im not sure if pickolocking someones car counts as a reason to kidnap..) also ID 23 picked me up on his shoulder and put me in to the trunk without any RP involving my responses. There were some /me and /do mixing also. Behalf of this I continued RP and tried to stay in character and don't ruin this by going to /b to argue with them. Although their RP wasn't the greatest I wanted to make this report so they would know their mistakes and get better in the future.

Hi there and thanks for making this report @Mexican Jesus I'd also like to commend you on keeping cool in-game while these events unfolded. You conducted yourself properly and continued with the RP regardless so well done.

Before I send out questions, I'd just like to say that the act of kidnapping is holding someone against their will and transporting them to another location.

As per server rules:

  • Players are allowed to kidnap or to take other players hostage for these specific reasons:

• You have to have a roleplay reason to kill the victim in accordance with the a, b, and c points under DM section.

• If you attempt to commit robbery of a property, you are allowed to hold the players within that property until you have finished the robbery. An NPC is not a valid hostage.

• If a hostage situation involves police in any way all of players involved in holding the hostage may not take another hostage for 1 OOC week.

John_Guarin (ID 32) @CaptainSkrub - Did you have a valid reason to take the reporting party hostage as per the rule above? If not, why did you go along with it?

Josh_Larsson (ID 175) @Baggman - Did you have a valid reason to take the reporting party hostage as per the rule above? If not, why did you go along with it?

Pads_El (ID 190) @padpilot - Did you have a valid reason to take the reporting party hostage as per the rule above? If not, why did you go along with it? Furthermore, why did you repeatedly respond to OOC chat ICly using VOIP?

Ajax_Jones (ID 23) @AjaxSprayNSkull - Did you have a valid reason to take the reporting party hostage as per the rule above? If not, why did you go along with it? Furthermore, why did you repeatedly powergame against the reporting party? Carrying the body of the man without roleplay is indeed powergaming.

All four of you have 24 hours to reply with your side of the story. If either of you have a video perspective showing the initial zip-tying that would also be great.

Kind Regards, MrSilky.

After reviewing the rules, the clear view on the video and hindsight I would say that I did not have a vail RP reason, and I apologize for my actions. I would like to state that long term RP wise I had been a victim of a clown killing, outside the 3 hours but its still my RP storyline as a character that I don't like the clowns, only due to that one incident.

Yes,  I also would like to take the opportunity to thank Mexican Jesus for staying with us and allowing us the opportunity to continue the RP and learn during our early stages here at Eclipse.

I am new to the server and new to RP in general, I was very confused during this scenario and was very aware that we may have been breaking several rules.

I do not have the power to pause RP so I tried my best to handle the situation and the players I was with, this is evident 02:04 where I can be seen askig us to do /do more, by this I am saying that we need to give the person chance to respond to RP and that we can't just take hold of him and throw him about, i.e /do attempts to lead the man to the car. /do success? I display this attitude throughout the clip in efforts to ensure everything was above board.

In response to my OOC in VOIP again it's down to confusion and inexperience, both with RP, GTA 5 and Eclipse. I assume you are referring to the first few moments in the video presented; before we had got in the vehicle. This is the only section, where yes, I responded to a /b with VOIP. You can hear me stutter the first offence and i try to make up for it the second time when I speak about storing the body, I tried to cover up my mistake by shrugging it off IC and completing my sentence is a different way.

If we had allowed ourselves more time with the about point regarding /do then we would not have been rushed. This would have allowed me to not get confused and inadvertently respond to OOC text chat using VOIP. Again, my confusion can be heard at the start of the video with regard to "get bobby pin,, ermm get ... booddy oh" ((00:53)) - here I was stuttering as I realized my mistake, this, for me, as I've said, it was a very tense and rushed moment.

One can read all the rules in the world but it is evident from the vast reports that the majority of players at some point within their RP career at Eclipse will, in some way, mistakenly or not, break a rule, not all players but due to the complexity and high stakes of the game I suspect that it happens to a lot of people not as adverse to such tense RP. I ask you to look at my recent feedback regarding my /rateRP, in hopes you see I intend to play by the rules and help to provide an overall positive RP experience.

Despite my lack of experience, I feel I have been a good RP asset in recent weeks since my arrival.

This entire situation has been a learning curve for me, I apologize that this learning curve came at the expense of another player. I thank the player for the report, I believe due to this I will now be able to generate more practical and LEGAL roleplay scenarios. Having the added benefits of different perspective has been beneficial. Second, the report has also taught be 1, that recording is a vital necessity and 2. the correct way to handle incorrect RP and the attitude one should adopt in those circumstances; this was demonstrated by Mexican Jesus through out.

Apologies to Mexican Jesus, I can assure you, this will not happen again as I continue at Eclipse. Also, apologies on the whole to the staff also.

I did not come up with the idea to kidnap him, as shown in the video. I went along with it because I did not really know what was going on in the situation, maybe my friends had a reason to kidnap him. I did not say anything or double check and that is my fault because we should all be examples on this server. I am deeply sorry if this situation ruined your day in anyway or affected you negatively in anyway @Mexican Jesus you did all you can to keep RPing and kept cool OOC. I hope to see your role play in the future!

Hi there, and thanks for making this report.

After discussing the footage with other staff members, reading responses and looking at other evidence, we have decided to issue the following punishments:

John_Guarin (ID 32) will receive a punishment for Non-RP as there was no valid reason for the kidnapping.

Josh_Larsson (ID 175) will receive a punishment for Non-RP as there was no valid reason for the kidnapping.

Pads_El (ID 190) will receive a punishment for Non-RP as there was no valid reason for the kidnapping as well as a minor punishment for metagaming (mixing IC/OOC)

Ajax_Jones (ID 23) will receive a punishment for Non-RP as there was no valid reason for the kidnapping as well as a punishment for powergaming for repeatedly carrying the zip-tied victim without any roleplay.

Report accepted

Kind regards, MrSilky and RedHot.
