Specific rule(s) broken:

6. Ruleplaying

Ruleplaying is a term used when players are using, manipulating, or interpreting rules or rulings falsely or outside of their intention, in an unrealistic or unintended way that does not constitute quality or realistic RP standards.

Some examples of ruleplaying:

  • Taunting e.g., an enemy at a public place (e.g. fishing pier) knowing that they can't retaliate at said public location, effectively showing no fear for your safety.

Each situation will be reviewed and dealt with as case by case basis by staff, the examples above are not precise and there could be realistic context to someone's actions.

9. Non-Roleplay (Non-RP)

Non-Roleplay behavior is considered as actions that are unrealistic or promote poor quality roleplay. It's difficult to interpret or understand what good roleplay can be sometimes, and we aim to steer players in the direction we want them to go through our server rules. Players are welcome to speak to staff for guidance in regard to roleplay. Some examples (not exhaustive) of Non-RP:

  • Ignoring Roleplay such as
  • Asking to be killed or forcing your own death. (Players are not allowed to force their death, they only die when they bleed out by the script).

In roleplay scenarios, players are required to remain In-Character all times. Roleplay can only be paused or voided by admin staff. This means that if for example, a player feels that another player has broken a server rule, they should not stop roleplaying and argue in an OOC chat, instead, they should submit a report, document the situation, and continue to roleplay.

10. Powergaming (PG)

Powergaming is defined as inserting unrealistic actions into a character's actions that would otherwise not be possible in real life, providing non-factual statements in /do, or not allowing other players a chance to roleplay responses and their own actions to your roleplay. Some examples of powergaming:

  • Roleplaying superhuman strength or abilities, by performing unrealistic actions such as breaking cuffs with raw strength.

Players should also not type several character actions into a single /me when it's aimed at another player, as that stops the player from roleplaying a proper response. For example, you should not roleplay instantaneously withdrawing an object and then using the object to hold the player hostage, as their chances of reacting to the initial withdrawal are eliminated.

Players may use forceful commands such as /frisk, /cuff, /drag, /cpr, /stabilize after RP, or if the party is unresponsive for 30 seconds.

13. Fear Roleplay (FRP)

Fear Roleplay is the concept of showing appropriate care and concern to preserve your character's safety and life. We aim for balanced gameplay through this rule, and it may not be representative of real life at times.

Players whose life is in direct danger must RP adequate fear and comply with demands given to them. Direct danger could mean, for example, a gun aimed at your head or at you from close vicinity, by any player.

A player is not showing proper fear if they run while on foot/bike or in an unpowered vehicle and a weapon is aimed at them at close range, or if they drive into an active shootout more than once without the intent of providing cover or fleeing with it.

A player has the option to react if they are in a powered vehicle, if they already have a weapon drawn facing their attacker, or if their attacker's view is obstructed by an object.

How did the player break the rule(s)?  (300 words maximum)
I responded to an active shootout near LSC. Upon arriving, there were active gunshots at Tinsel Towers. I shot & injured one suspect, then demanded ID 105 (Kane_Mysterio) to get off his bike because I saw a firearm on his hip. He didn't comply with the demands and tried driving off, leading to him getting shot. Before I began medical treatment, ID 83 (Dom_Versace) enters the scene and is told to leave with the barrel of an assault rifle pointed at him inches away. He ignored the demands and trash talks, walking around like the threat wasn't even there, completely disregarding his character's life and ruleplaying knowing that I cannot shoot him. While I was trying to perform medical treatment, he roleplayed some reasonable wounds, but then decided to refuse any positive RP from my treatment, instead going into the OOC chat and disturbing everyone there. While continuing my medical RP, ID 83 (Dom_Versace) loots an injured guy and I see that he has taken multiple firearms and a bag. He is chased with an assault rifle pointed at him yet again, and takes the time to unpark a BF400 to try and escape on. As a result, he is shot and injured as well. I returned to ID 105 (Kane_Mysterio) to continue my medical treatment while he is arguing in OOC chat still. His comments were completely unnecessary and uncalled for. He then starts doing ridiculous, untreatable medical RP while also powergaming some strength that he would not have, saying he had an adrenaline rush which would allow him to grab at me and resist handcuffs. Eventually, I was able to complete the RP and take him to the hospital. ID 83 (Dom_Versace) went completely unresponsive while Bunkie_Johnson was trying to RP with him.

Hi Aldarine, Dqniel & Yputi,

I hope you're all well.

Regarding the first question asked, I was currently intoxicated at the time which I am not asking to be looked past upon.

What I believe was wrong in the situation being reported is that I simply should have left the situation alone, however after going back to my apartment and stumbling across this situation I saw my brother Kane on the floor which immediately rang alarm bells and I wanted to help out in anyway I could. Thus me walking over and trying to talk to him to see if he is okay, I then had Joseph point black aim his AR at me which I had to then back away.

After watching the officer perform medical treatment on Kane from across the road, I saw Theo on the floor and went up and talked to him he told me to take his heavy weaponry and pistol, after a split second decision as he was close to tinsel garage and I saw opportunity to escape I took my chances. I looted Theo and ran to the garage as fast as I could, after I spawned my bike and was close to the corner of the garage where my bike was I heard Joseph shout demands, I was then immediately shot down and injured even though I had not aimed any guns or threatened his life.

Regarding the medical RP I was given, I got power gamed with the /cpr command and this frustrated me and I told him in /pms which his reply was him trying to tell me I am trying to commit to death RP this is simply untrue and I wanted to RP with the officer correctly and it totally ruined my immersion. To be transparent as I was intoxicated I was also heavily pissed off with the fact this happened to me, this lead me to be passive aggressive and not really RP with the medical treatment given due to me being frustrated. I wasn't trying to pause RP as only admins can pause RP or stall I was merely trying to resolve the altercation OOcly to move forward with the correct RP.

To answer your second question Please explain where you believe improvements could be made when looking back at this reported situation and please explain how these improvements could be implemented in future situations to prevent similar situations as reported from occurring.

I believe the improvements I could make would be to carefully assess the situation correctly, which in my opinion I thought I did do at the time. As we all know sometimes split second decisions are made and thus leads to certain RP. I would like to apologise for me getting frustrated and not answering to certain RP given by the officer given medical which I am still unsure of his name.

I hardly play GTA when I have had a drink, but I did and that is my mistake. I want to take the time to apologise to Joseph and the other officer for any RP which I may of ruined. I am still confused why it was warranted to get shot instantly for trying to run to my bike but I guess that is for someone else to answer.

I do learn from my mistakes.

Thank you for taking the time to read my response.

Kind regards,
Dom Versace
