Mike_Luigi (3) - [Metagaming/Bug Abuse]

Recommended Posts

Player(s) being reported: ID 3
Date of interaction reported: 14/5/2022
Unix time stamp from HUD: 1652575511

Your character name: Teejay Shakur
Other player(s) involved: Nico Lynch

Specific rule(s) broken:

8. Metagaming (MG)

Metagaming is the act of relaying In-Character (IC) information through any method not considered IC which has the potential to change the current or future roleplay scenarios, or for the potential for the information to be used.

It's also considered metagaming to mix IC and Out-of-Character (OOC) information.

Examples of MG:

  • Calling players out by the ID above their head.
  • Communicating In-Character events, actions, and decisions, with another player on a 3rd party software e.g. discord. For example: "Let's rob this player", "I'm being robbed at City Parking, help me".

Players may sit in voice chat and communicate with one another whilst playing the game, however, they need to be careful of unintentional/passive metagaming as that can be acted on either unintentionally or intentionally. For example, telling your friend "Hold on, I'm being robbed right now" could cause them to act on that and start looking for you In-Character.

Players may not have any interaction or knowledge from their alternate characters. They should not refer to their alternate characters as their "cousin", "sibling" etc. In general, players should avoid speaking of their characters unless they are inserted into roleplay where someone is.

Players should not intentionally base their actions and/or words based on how another player sounds, as their voice may not reflect their character. For example, a male character with a female voice does not automatically mean they are a trans man or vice versa.

Exploiting

Players may not abuse server bugs or unintended server mechanics to their own advantage, it should be reported as a Server Bug in the Bug Reports section: https://forum.eclipse-rp.net/forum/5-bug-reports/. For more sensitive server bugs, such as potential money exploits, players may want to report the bug to a staff member directly at their own discretion.

Example of unintended mechanics/bugs:

  • Robbing ATMs through walls.
  • Glitching through objects using animations.
  • Glitching out of the world.
  • Etc.

How did the player break the rule(s)?  (300 words maximum)\
I had gotten into Nico Lynch's car with the intent to go sell our drugs together, we had been pulled over after going at a speed of 100 in the city. We thought nothing of this, so there would have been no reason for me to pull out my gun. We were sat in the same space for the next 10 minutes as the cop waited for his backup to arrive. Confused as to why. The cops proceeded to tell us to step out of the vehicle, and of course we evaded, as to us having all this stuff on us. After the scenario was ending and we had been pulled over, I asked ICLY why we were being pulled out of the vehicle. Apparently when ID 3 reached our window, he saw my firearm in my hands. I had gotten in the vehicle at Eclipse apartment complex,  and sat there, not pulling out my weapon, as there would be no reason to.  In the past I've known this to be a common visual bug, where your gun is stuck in your hands, but you don't even have it pulled out. I feel like this visual bugged was abused, causing us to be busted with 250 drugs in the trunk/pockets.

Evidence of rule breach I was not informed that the reason we were pulled out was a visual bug, so I do not have POV to the start of this situation. But I had asked ID 3 to save his POV

Hello! and thank you for handling the report. The reasoning behind me sending "Guess what this mf said to me in ooc" was nothing more than me being flabbergasted about the whole situation. As I presented him with saying it was a visual bug, and he responded with  "If I see it I see it" Which to me, felt like he had no intent to resolve the issue, or even attempt. This was not meant in a harmful way, or to bring the player down at all. Just simply how I speak. Additionally like I had said I had no reason to aim the pistol. I had been told to come to Eclipse Apartments to come with Nico to sell drugs. I thought of this as a great idea, as I had just cooked some up earlier, and was also needing to sell drugs. I had him park my vehicle, and hopped straight into his, with the intent to grab my drugs which had been stored in parking. Of course there would be no reason to pull out my gun or to have (aimed) it. We were pulled over going 100 mph in a 80 mph zone. Which again would be no reason for me to aim the pistol. I just sat quietly in the passenger seat, unaware of this until after the situation ended. The only time I had aimed my pistol, would be after the fact. They had about 4-5 cruisers behind us, and at this point we started fleeing after being told to step out of the vehicle. I had aimed the pistol as we started fleeing, but this is the FIRST and ONLY time that my pistol had been aimed during the situation. I even remember smoking a cigarette during the situation, even lowering my window to do so. Not sure if this caused this visual bug, or had anything to do with it.

If there is any additional information or anything that is unclear, please let me know and I will do my best to reply. Thank you so much!

My side is that I was simply doing a traffic stop for a speeding vehicle, I noticed the passenger had a gun, so I waited for additional units to respond to do a felony stop. Once 3 other cruisers arrived I began to issue orders to the driver to throw their keys out the window and they decided to instead evade.

  • Were made aware by the player that they experienced a visual bug prior and/or during the arrested?
It wasn't until 30mins after I initially saw the weapon, when both players had already been arrested that I was informed that there was any issue.

  • Was the appearance of the pistol the only reason for you to initiate the situation that has led up to an arrest?
No, the original reason was for a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle, as I did not continue with the traffic stop it is impossible to know what the outcome of that would be.

  • Do you possibly have extended footage that shows the complete interaction between yourself and these players?
I am unable to upload the full length.

Thank you for taking the report for this situation.  As I had no idea that a rule break occurred until after the entire situation I do not have pov, as I was not made aware by the LEO's present that they had seen his gun through a visual glitch until we were basically in DOC.  This entire scenario took 30+ minutes.  Had I known a rule break occurred or even had the possibility of occurring I would always clip that type of scenario, but I was dumbfounded and couldnt myself think what had happened in the first place.   I did however pm ID 3 and ask him if he had pov and I was told yes.   I was also told "If I see it, I see it" which I think is pretty brash as is.  Suggesting that you should base your roleplay around gta bugs or glitches that others do not see for themselves client side.  I do believe this is a known bug, as I've seen it happen many times over to people and have been paranoid of it for myself in previous stops by PD.  When roleplaying I always attempt to take into account things others may not be in control of in regards to buggy game code.  We were going like 10-20 over the speed limit for a short second barely breaking any laws, there would be no reason for my passenger to already have a gun out when we have 225k worth of drugs in the car when we pulled over and complied with the officer allowing him to do his job.   Realistically, this makes no sense to me personally.

I was recently informed that the gun appearing in the hands is a known bug, this is the first time I have come across this and had no idea it was an issue.

Obviously by the time any potential issue was raised OOCly about it, it was too late as the other party already evaded and was arrested.

As I was unaware of the bug I had no reason to question it OOCly and just continued with the RP scenario put in front of myself.

REPORT ACCEPTED*
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――

*After reviewing this report and evidence attached to it, we've decided to accept this report. However, no punishments will be applied.

To explain the decision of this outcome, I would like to describe the reported situation first.

The report was made against Mike Luigi due to the player experiencing a visual bug that would have caused an arrest to happen. The reporting player did not have any footage themselves, but did show a screenshot of PM's that were sent that show Mike Luigi say that there was a firearm in the reporting player's hand. Additionally, Mike Luigi stated over PM's "If I see it, I see it.".
Mike Luigi has provided evidence that shows his own point of view. This evidence shows that the reporting player was holding a firearm in their hand as Mike Luigi is at the vehicle.

Mike Luigi (Reported player), Nico Lynch (Driver of the vehicle) and Teejay Shakur (Reporting player and passenger of the vehicle) received an inquiry with the request to respond. All players have responded before a conclusion was made.
Mike Luigi states in their response that only later after spotting the firearm they were informed about a potential visual bug. The original reason for their approach was a traffic stop because of speeding.
Nico Lynch provided a statement that would explain why there would be no footage from their end, also stating why there wouldn't be any reason to have a firearm already out.
Teejay Shakur explained the meaning behind an OOC message ("Guess what this mf said to me in ooc") that was sent twice. Teejay Shakur stated they were flabbergasted about the situation and that there was intent to resolve the issue.

Mike Luigi later provided evidence that shows the start of the reporting player's vehicle evading, the chase getting to an end and another vehicle approaching the scene.

After going over all statements and evidence, it has been decided that this situation should not have escalated in the way it did. The reporting player experienced and suffered from a visual bug. The reporting player has no control over this and should not be held responsible for this. However, this also means that the reported player (Mike Luigi) can not be held responsible for this either, since the player was only made aware at a state where the situation already had escalated. Therefore, the situation outside of the traffic stop should be voided.
Additionally, we would like to point out that the communication between both players (Mike Luigi and Teejay Shakur) did not allow the situation to be resolved. Both players sent very one-sided responses rather than trying to figure the situation out together.
Mike Luigi: "If I see it, I see it." is not a healthy response once a player tries to explain a visual bug has been experienced. Please try to be more open towards players to get to a solution together.
Teejay Shakur: Please try to remain respectful at all times, even when frustrated. Inform the player in detail about what you believe is wrong and utilize /report if a staff member would be required to assist.

The player(s) that suffered from any loss due to this situation should go through the refund request process in case they wish to get refunded for this.

If you have received a punishment that you disagree with, feel free to file a punishment appeal following the punishment appeal guidelines and format. If the reporting party suffered a loss greater than $25,000 in value, feel free to file a refund request following the refund request guidelines and format.
