Deathmatching (DM)

Deathmatching is the act of attacking a player without proper IC motive and interaction. Prior interaction should include escalation such as a robbery or a report to the police. 

How did the player break the rule(s)?  (300 words maximum)\

Player 4 and I were working at Bay View when player 8 rolled up on a motorcycle. They asked us if we wanted to buy a .50 and I said no which reminded me that mine was in my Bruiser. I went out back to get my .50 and saw that Player 4 had d/c for some reason and moments later a shot is heard from player 8. I grabbed my gun and went to see what was going on only to find that player 8 had taken off to see if there was loot in a car. I had sent a report and was asked to pm the player to see what happened and ask them for POV but they logged off so the PM went to a player who just logged on. 

I am just wondering if this man's intentions were to rob us or shoot us and if so why did they leave and log off after trying? I would have handled it in the PM but they logged off.
