  1. I don’t think the people who can’t understand he rules should ruin the fun for the other opportunities (criminal, LEO and civ) that the removal of these has allowed for. Ive said it once and I’ll say it again, the vehicles argument is silly when there’s parking literally walking distance from nearly all of the places listed. Sure I do think it’s silly that the rule allows for stealing cars parked at mission row for example, but I think that’s a compromise for what it enables especially when there’s an alternative of just…parking around the corner. I also think the “do it elsewhere it’s a big map” isn’t a fair comment as all of those places are hubs for various roleplay and pushing people away because of a few scenarios some goobers did is limiting.
  2. As much as I’d love it from an immersion perspective, it just doesn’t work because it makes reports extremely hard to conclude. I still think an option/toggle to hide aliases and only show id would be good. But I guess that’s not really in line with the accusations about metagaming.
  3. If it doesn't already, wouldn't it just be better to filter out and not show voided ones at all since they bear no weight as a punishment and have 0 use
  4. Would be neat if they could be grouped into maybe tabs or something based on category? Also, all vehicle dealership stock on the panel is listed at the max vehicle count instead of just available vehicles which idk if it's intended but it's a bit silly.
  5. This is a huge broad topic and too general really as a suggestion. If someone's not being offensive by mocking some sort of mental illness purposefully to get a reaction then I don't see an issue. I've had great fun doing CRU and psych rp with many people going down this route of RP. Ranging from people being psychotic, to OCD, to depression, the list goes on. I have 2 characters that would fall under this category, one who had a serious head injury and is mentally deficient, is quite simple and also can't talk properly without stuttering (Bathsheba), and one character that has more subtle ones like ADHD and OCD. I've personally not had any complaints raised to me about either and have generally had good feedback with even suggestions from people who know it better to make it more realistic. So overall, the first part I don't think it should be gated OOCly. As for someone who RP's as an animal, as long as they're actually human and not oocly saying they're RPing an animal, I also don't see the harm. Off the top of my head, this has happened twice (not including people with fursonas like kopi and bear), Wolfgang and the fish people. With Wolfgang the RP is pretty in-depth, a lot of which most people don't see, and nobody, including @JellyFaun actually thinks they're playing an animal and more a human who's just a bit lot mental. In their own unique way, they had a good unique character idea and the only real downside is the IC hassle of having to jump through hoops to handle him. (which is more of a good side since it breaks up the cookie-cutter interactions and arrests and treatments). The fish people were just faking it ICly to get to use their masks to my knowledge and never thought they were roleplaying actual fish. My main question is just...why? I don't quite understand the problem it would be solving
  6. It was a shit show of DM and rule breaks, parts were fun for sure but it just didn’t work overall. I wouldn’t say it was a leash put on as I believe it was a decision between event team and faction services. Keep in mind, what staff saw is more of a bigger picture than one or two people’s experience in the events. also idk if you saw the latest dev post from osvaldon and he also mentions the updates based on it that are coming. As I’ve mentioned in other threads on this topic, it’s a lose-lose situation for the devs in terms of communication. More communication means basically committing to certain updates, more so if it’s not ones they’ve started work on, which causes tensions if they can’t or don’t work on it, or the priority order. But then also people dislike when there’s little communication. I think the basic level of communication that would be most ideal is “this is what’s currently actively being worked on”, and nothing beyond that. The bank account changes are a good example of something that left a sour taste in some people’s mouths after it effectively has been scrapped after being teased.
  7. You’re the reason people are homeless if you own multiple houses, more so if they’re unused!

    Mass unban

This tbh. Theres very rarely a “whoops I made an oopsie I will learn from it”, people like that appeal and mostly get back in. You have to repeatedly show you don’t give a shit about the rules or do something really bad for an indefinite ban to the point of “appeal in several months”. Relevant link from 2021 suggestion of the same kind that was also referenced last year when this was also suggested:
  10. Ash

    Mass unban

Fewer players who know the rules > more players who can’t follow pretty basic rules. If you’re on an indefinite ban then you either proved you can’t follow the basic rules by repeat offending or did something rather bad. As mentioned by Larvey above, if someone’s ban doesn’t fall into one of the serious categories mentioned in the initial post, they can appeal and have a solid chance at coming back if they can prove they understand what went wrong. Blanket unbanning imo is bad and not needed
  11. @Thomas BeaulieuI think you’re mixing up fully killing your character to never play on them again with “oh i decided im going to die now” to respawn and NLR. i can’t imagine anyone would have issue if you did some proper rp and decided your character was just done. When staff say they don’t support it it’s referring primarily to when people just deny all medical rp and just want the respawn and also that they don’t get involved if you did decide to never play the character again and just call it the end. Just because there’s no real support for it doesn’t mean you couldn’t go through some in depth rp and go down that route yourself.
  12. Been lurking this thread but need to reply to this, 100% agree. There's more to RP than just /me and /do. If you are talking to the person, explaining what issues you found maybe a bit of voice roleplay grunting removing something there's probably a very low chance that anyone will ever complain or take an issue with you for not actually just spamming a bunch of /me's and /do's. Hell, for a good chunk of my DOC career, I didn't RP frisking, I instead talked them through "I'm gonna pat you down now is that okay" Maybe sprinkle in some animations or soundboard if I'm feeling spicy whilst talking through the whole thing and I never got pulled up about powergaming or any complaints from people. Even for my time in MD, I'd do a super basic low effort /me and /do but put a LOT more effort into voice roleplay and back-and-forth with people and again, never got a complaint about doing the /cpr or /stabilize after. Basically never roleplayed with commands to get people onto stretchers, instead verbalised it and soundboarded stretcher noises and that's RP (very much inspired by Stab Abbadon's RP)! I definitely feel like the above applies to mechanics and is where a lot of people miss out on opportunities. It comes down to the fact that this "boilerplate" rp of /me and /do is basically the bare minimum, if you go to the effort of doing something different and maybe unique you'll find you get better reactions from people and also end up having more fun yourself. The 'mandatory' RP is there to stop people just doing the animation and that's it, but spicing it up yourself will foster more engagement and interaction. It's give and take, mechanics in general need to do more if they want to not have people doing nothing to make the rp interesting, but also people going to mechanics need to realize they're people wanting to roleplay and play the game themselves and if they want them to be more available, then make it fun for them.
  13. All your points are about IC things but if you’re on about ooc things then legal faction management is there to manage legal factions . seems more just like an excuse to say LEO are bad. How about raising faction standards for illegal factions too?
  14. /dice [number] >> "Player rolled a [number] sided dice and got Y" Don't see why this wouldn't be extremely trivial to program, just cap number to be between 3 and 100 inclusive. Bonus points if it forces the dice roll animation (currently "/anim wank" i believe) Would be sweet and easy to implement, would allow for better implementation of card games by people too
  15. That's 1k more than being command/leader of any legal faction If this was the last few days I believe those 3 were all being boosted by the job board with like +15 or 20% pay bonus because not many people were doing them so that could be where your numbers come from. Overall, in my opinion, the freelance jobs should be reworked to allow for more co-op play. 2-man money trucking or garbage job is so fun for RP but only one person makes money which can deincentivize a lot of people. It's well within the faction leaders' right to attempt to get some sort of commission, bonus, or higher pay system implemented. I think the new LSC owner is yet to be announced so we'll see what that brings when it happens. The factions that do get short-staffed do seem to be the ones where there's less RP available to them that's obvious which probably adds up to it. Maybe @Chunder can elaborate more but to my knowledge, the DOC implemented a bunch of bonuses as well as RP opportunities to keep people busy and engaged and it's been popping for a while the last few months. But incentivizing poorly-manned faction jobs is a whole other issue on its own I reckon. But I do think that freelance jobs should be reworked to be more co-op friendly for more rp
  16. Road working has been the best paying one since its release and it's also the most social one so I would disagree with that statement. You must not have had a good run if you consider road working to be on the lower end of payment. Job boards are worth a mention though as when road working is most popular the pay goes down. Your idea behind the potential RP behind oil drilling is a great one...But not how it happens really, when that was the best paying one it was people solo sweating it and not high in roleplay. Trucking is nearly mostly driven by player businesses so sometimes you'll get totally shit orders not worth the time and some you'll get a pretty decent haul. Faction jobs pay less than freelance jobs to compensate, faction jobs have MUCH more potential for roleplay and to have more fun than freelance jobs which are more of a lonely grind half the time. Bunch of factions have bonus systems as well. doing 10 hours of a faction job is generally a lot less mind-numbing than 10 hours of any freelance job. A lot of people don't play faction jobs purely for the money, they do it for the roleplay and the money just adds up over time. People working faction jobs don't really have many outgoings for their cash beyond cars and houses and properties, all of which just come with time in a faction job.
  17. reminder that powergaming isnt the same as someone initiating rp with you that you just don't want to do e.g. getting arrested or someone doing their job. In your example if coral did arrest someone for something they'd already served time for there's several avenues of roleplay you can go down to contest that, that's still not powergaming, maybe just a genuine ic mistake, or something your friend wasn't aware of, or maybe even corruption who knows but to claim powergaming because things dont go your way is bold. this is just not true lmao, they're punished as fairly as non-LEO are when they break a rule.
  18. If you think there’s some big conspiracy just become one and then tell everyone these super dark secrets? Its really not as dramatic as you make it out to be though, the reason it’s hidden in reports is usually down to stuff like “we actually caught them lacking and saw them leave their stash” or “someone close to them is snitching to us” and other things like that, main reason they’re not explained in things like reports is because they’ll 100% affect your ic decisions going forwards, which is metagaming. Pretty sure lots of people know what scripts they have available, the rest is purely so people don’t metagame the info .

  21. If the social club menu comes up just alt+f4 but click “no” so it doesn’t actually close and it should be fine
  22. Yes some people abused it by spawn killing each other in an rv at md and farming the meat but I don’t think that was the reason it was removed. As mentioned above, it’s just silly that you’d be able to sell human meat and highly unrealistic.
