  1. Hey, the pagers exist so that a somewhat realistic presence of tactical elements for PD/SD can exist and deal with situations. These pagers go out to SWAT/SED and normally, due to timezone and availability, it only results in 2-3 people logging in-game. There are no pagers for anyone else in PD/SD. Take a situation, for example, a group takes people hostage inside of a property with heavy weapons. There's no SWAT or SED online, there's no one trained to negotiate or even equipped to deal with the situation, if there were no pagers, it's a roleplay situation that ultimately would be ignored as there'd be no point in sending officers to their deaths, they are just realistically and actually not trained for these situations. Now a solution to this would be to allow more officers/deputies to join tactical divisions and get access to a wide variety of equipment, which would backfire as there could now be too much tactical presence overpowering criminals. The pagers exist for literally, as you call it, balance purposes, so that each situation can be roleplayed out properly. There are no pagers that call an entire faction in-game.
  2. An automatic impound system could make sense but would have to be a bit more in-depth to accommodate for the checks that the police do. Add an NPC to the booth; Interact with the NPC to try and release your car. If you don't have an active driver's license (either suspended or missing), you will be informed of such by the NPC and you won't get your car. If you have an active driver's license and no criminal charges, the NPC would send you a prompt of the price. If you choose to pay, the car would come out within a few minutes (5-10 seems reasonable). The money wouldn't be taken until the car is released. If you have criminal charges with an active driver's license, the NPC would send you a prompt of the price and initiate the same process as #3. But this would also send a notification to the police that X person is trying to release their car whilst having active criminal charges. After the 5-10 minutes, the car just wouldn't come out and you wouldn't be charged. This is obviously the step someone can use the script and interact with an NPC to find out if they are wanted, but at least the police are given 5-10 minutes to make an attempt to take the player into custody. If you have criminal charges without an active driver's license, you'd simply get the prompt from #2. This would cover what the police do currently, they check someone's license, they check their record, and if they are wanted, they make an attempt to take the person into custody. It's the only balance in my eyes that could replicate this process. Mechanics cannot complete the process that the police does right now to release a car. Though, my suggestion of a system could be a bit flawed and probably developed better, as currently, there can be directives by the government that X group/person can't retrieve their vehicle from the impound because of X reason, for X period. Most recently, due to IC events, LSD for example couldn't get their vehicles back for I believe 48 hours. Not sure how this could be replicated in an automated system. However, I am not sure if this would be a development priority right now, but I do support some form of automation as long as it can cover the process that's being done right now by actual police players.
  3. Hello, we submitted a development request a few weeks back for floating /do's to replace admin markers, I am trying to get it expedited as I understand it means quite a lot for primarily business RP. We are basically asking for floating /dos. - Osborn.
  4. I am going to go ahead and archive this. We do not have a blanket permanent ban for most of our server rules, each situation is viewed differently. We do not quite agree that all RWTers are bad (not speaking of the act, speaking of the person, because RWT is bad obviously). Someone could have done a mistake but still been one of the greatest community members that we've had. I do appreciate your suggestion however.
  5. Hello, I am glad it could be cleared up for you. To make it clear, gun mods, car mods, graphics mods are not disallowed if it's within the scope of the rule. - Osborn.

    Cops 2 OP

True! All legal factions (government) do have a budget, though, this is mostly for salaries. I don't think any LEO would be opposed to a new vehicle system in which more is drained from the budget for repairs/fuel etcetera. Just requires development which is currently focused on criminal content. While this is true and something that I wish wasn't needed, PD/SD is reactionary and has simply adapted to the IC environment. Helicopters however are commonly called for pursuits in real life in bigger cities. This is actually a requirement for someone's phone to be traced, there are faction regulations in place. Getting to the point in PD/SD where you can use the trace system takes months of effort, so I highly doubt this power would be used lightly as they'd potentially risk it all! I'm not sure if this was meant to insinuate that legal faction members can make upwards of 16k/hour, the maximum is 8k/hour and only the highest ranks will be paid this. In SD, for example, only Executive Staff are paid 8k/hour, that's about 8 people. The average SD member will make 5,5-6k/hour which they also use to purchase food/water and any additional items that they may need from stores. Getting pulled out of a car as you have described for gang affiliation is actually a reactionary thing that goes through an IC process before it's approved. If I'm going to be honest with you, this wouldn't be an issue if gangs did not go and commit mass murder etcetera in their gang colors and whatnot. It's really easy to not have this happen to you. Aside from the gang affiliation and the IC process that I won't go too much into details on, there are also IC policies in place to make it fair for criminals when it comes to asking them to step out of a car. I will not share the IC policy, but it begins like this If you are referring to scripted jobs, they can actually make double what the average officer will get an hour. -- EDIT: Lethal Force can indeed be used on an individual whose actions are life-threatening or pose a risk of great bodily harm/physical injury. Aiming a firearm, using your vehicle as a weapon to run someone over, or accelerating towards someone all seem like valid situations both from a realism perspective and rule perspective. As for someone simply carrying a weapon or shooting tires for only traffic-related offenses, that sounds like situations that should be investigated by server staff for potential DM. -- As for the general concerns of PD/SD/DOC/MDs' access to TEAMSPEAK. I do welcome you guys to make alternative characters and apply for ride-along particularly PD/SD so that you can see firsthand how much In Character communication happens both in-game and on the radio. Teamspeak is heavily moderated and it's mostly used for OOC chat among faction members. similar to how you and a friend can sit on discord and talk while you play. The IC TAC channels are also heavily moderated and only used for specific tactical situations such as pursuits, but they are promptly cleared when there's no need for them anymore. It's our goal to not need IC TAC channels on TeamSpeak once our development requests for radio changes to accommodate our realistic needs are able to be developed. I think it's rather unfair to comment that cops don't need to purchase radios or experience /VR issues etc. when it's simply false. -- I think that Cyrus Raven's comment on this topic was pretty straightforward and on-point. -- EDIT: I would also like to point to the fact that IA of both SD and PD accepts OOC complaints, and no complaints are ignored, some may just take longer to resolve. SD also accepts roleplay feedback (both positive and negative) on our forums, which unfortunately, no one has used. -- EDIT2: I would also like to talk about member limits etcetera. MD/PD/SD/DOC all tries to be available 24/7 to cover all time zones and be able to respond to several situations at once. It's quite rare for a Joint-Situation between PD/SD to consist of more than let's say, 15/20 people unless it's a pre-planned operation. While the numbers on paper seem high, taking into account timezones, availability expectancy, and response times, it's not uncommon for a good ambush to take out SD and/or PD. Example: https://streamable.com/mdrdd6 - Irish wiped out the deputies in the pursuit, all but 2 SD on duty at the time survived as they were still responding from Paleto. PD did not arrive until after Irish had left, except for their 2 injured. This is not the first time and probably not the last. -- I'll leave this thread with an end note to let you guys know that NBDY does plan on shifting focus to DOC development to make time in prison more enjoyable, once he's done with house robberies. I do have to be the devil's advocate here however, there's only so much scripting that can be done, players who get put into prison will still be confined to a specific RP space and outside the scripted mechanics that will be added, they will have to make an effort to continue RP among themselves - just as they would outside of the prison. - Osborn.
  7. Added under 4. Hacking and Exploits Modifying game files were previously a single line under hacking/cheating, however, the staff team felt as if this was not clear enough, and instead, we've now expanded the rule with more in-depth bullet points. While some may see this as arbitrary, it's our official stance to modding your game on a client-sided level. Modifications are allowed as they can help players feel more immersive, but they should not grant you any form of advantage despite any potential positives, because at the end of the day, it's client sided modding, which makes it unfair if you experience something different than other players which can grant you advantages in roleplay situations. This was intended to be released two weeks prior, however, the staff team has during these two weeks performed extensive testing of gun sounds live on the server and then had internal discussions about them. The consensus was to disallow them. I personally know that a lot of community members use gun sounds as it makes gunfights more immersive, however, it was decided that these sounds make gun sounds too distinct in comparison to default, which has situational advantages such as reaction, being able to hear over certain conditions, etc. If the community wishes for server-sided gun sounds, they can make their opinion heard on a suggestion and there may or may not be a community vote on the matter in the future. EDIT: Updated the last bullet point to clarify that it's specifically gun sounds mods that are disallowed.
  8. Hello. If you have information about someone who has been unbanned after they had doxxed another player, especially with photos as you claim, please contact a member of Senior Staff with the proper evidence etcetera, so that it can be reevaluated. We aim not to welcome back those who perform actions such as the one you are alleging in your post, as cyber threats/attacks are currently listed under our Disrupting Server Operations rule (highlighted in green below). Do take note that human errors can occur and individuals can sometimes be let back when certain details from months/years back are missing/forgotten about. Such cases have thus far resulted in re-bans. I will go ahead and lock and archive this, it does not suggest we handle something differently than we already try to do.
  9. Hello, factions can still do special RP events if they work with Faction Services, and sometimes there are even rewards if the roleplay is good (e.g. money). This has been done successfully in the past, e.g. Irish' Jewelry Heist and Royals' Money Transport Heist (not the public one). All you need is a proper plan of action, run it through Faction Services who works closely with the Event Team to make these events happen. We would much rather resume this way. For the public, the Event Team regularly hosts server events for all players to partake in.
  10. Speed Cameras were implemented because we wanted to tackle the unrealistic speeding in certain areas, but instead of doing it through staff means which would result in admin punishments, we decided that we'd implement a system that would ticket the player regardless of the vehicle they were driving, to keep it as much In Character as possible and make the consequences In Character as opposed to Out of Character. While speeding happens all the time in real life, it's unrealistic in the sense that pre- speed cameras, everyone would drive 100+ down the pier, past the police stations, past hospitals, etc. Now you have a choice, but that choice comes with consequences. At the moment, we really have no interest in changing how speed cameras work because it's there to solve an OOC problem without having to intervene OOCly to an extent. TL;DR read Cyrus Raven's reply above.
  11. Hello! Welcome to Eclipse. If you have any questions pertaining to RP, rules, etcetera, you can always ask on our discord server in #i_have_a_question or directly in-game by submitting a /report 1. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it real quick! There are some useful guides available on this forum as well.
  12. Staff has already investigated, spoken to, and issued Non-RP punishments in the past for players who deliberately go-between or to labs to call 911 on their rivals or just to ruin criminal roleplay overall. SD and PD do regulate their members when it comes to static labs because of the said lab being static, that's why the static labs are 9/10 times not destroyed or interacted with by police when they respond to situations at the location. Both rule 1 and rule 2 being proposed do not make sense, any player e.g. a trucker could be driving for example, down the highway past Braddock farm and witness a shootout or robbery take place in the distance of Braddocks, and they should be able to call 911, or even an off-duty employee. We could however add an example to Non-RP to clarify that the first portion of my post isn't allowed.
  13. Eclipse Community, We've updated the formatting of our General Rules to eliminate the previous bullet point system. Instead, we've opted to make individual sections for each server rule, and better clarified several rules. Although it will be more to read, it'll hopefully help players, especially newer players, understand our server rules better. This new formatting will allow us to go more into depth with future changes. It's our goal to make rules understandable to all players, both new and experienced. We may adopt this formatting for our other rules as well in the near future. Notable Changes: Illegitimate Transfers and RWT have been separated and better explained. The NCZ list has been updated to reflect on recent changes to police, medic, and sheriff stations. It's more clear which area we consider an NCZ now. If any are missing, they will be added. Ignoring faction duties has been moved from Powergaming to Non-RP. Being able to speak in different languages In-Character privately has been removed and is no longer permitted. The definition of Powergaming has been updated slightly to make it clear that it's different from Non-RP. Added a few more examples to our rules to help our newer players understand them better. The entire Disrupting Server Operations section has been updated. Furthermore, we've also revised our internal punishment guidelines; Timed Bans reintroduced to Deathmatching, Metagaming, Non-RP, and OOC Behavior. This means that there now are additional steps before an indefinite ban is placed. Timed Bans do not need to be appealed as they expire automatically, but can still be appealed if you feel the decision was wrong. Real World Trading is no longer a permanent ban by default, but will still result in a lengthy ban and full account assets wipe for those involved. (players will still need to appeal and an individual decision will be taken on the appeal itself) Illegitimate Transfers are no longer an indefinite ban by default for the first violation but will still result in the involved assets being removed. Deathmatching punishments will now also have a low/medium/high severity identifier. This is primarily for Senior Staff in the event of an appeal, to help us better understand the situation. Although, we've also further clarified that situations deemed as low severity could have other options explored than punishment, to solve the situation if possible. Note: Our decision to consider certain non-severe punishments as old after 1 year is still active, it hasn't changed. I'd also like to clarify; if you know of someone who is banned for a serious offense that also resulted in them being banned from all areas of our community, they will need to reach out to a member of Senior Staff for a potential unban of our forums to appeal their ban, not make a new account. It is however going to be near impossible if the ban revolved around staff/player harassment, doxxing, cheating, DDoSing, ban evading, or other severe actions considered Disrupting Server Operations. Edit: Any change is for the future, not the past. If players are banned, they have to appeal as per usual.
  14. This has been fixed and will be in the MDC next restart.
  15. Hello, The kidnapping rule was altered to allow for more fluent roleplay scenarios between individuals so that a proper escalation between parties isn't hindered by the rules. You are not meant to kidnap random people and BRING them to a property that you wish to rob, there is a clear subrule under rule 15 that reads: This does not mean that you can bring a random individual to the property because, in order to kidnap anyone on the server, you need to adhere to: We have no intention at this moment to further alter this rule, we think it's reasonable to require RP escalation between parties for someone to be kidnapped - it was very restricted before and required DM rights, but we eliminated that. Again, I stress that you can naturally hold hostages in a property that you intend to rob, but not bring random people to it.
  16. Hey. Prints are permanently on items until rubbed away with microfiber cloth or touched by another player, but gloves should obviously prevent new prints from appearing on an item. Can the PD/SD Detective confirm that it was scriptly found on the cash and not anything else?
  17. Sorry, you feel as if you've been mistreated. Feel free to post an appeal if you disagree with the punishment. Quantity does not equal quality. Have a Happy New Year
  18. Eclipse Community, A hot topic throughout 2021 has been to review our progressive punishment system and to become more forgiving. Initially, we did not think a change was needed as admin staff had already been encouraged to seek a deviation from our internal punishment guidelines, to issue more lenient punishments on players who had remained clean for a relatively long time. However, we've come to understand that this isn't very efficient, as it's left entirely to the judgment of the staff member on whether they should seek deviation or not, and in many cases, it has resulted in players being banned and having to go through the appeal process only to be unbanned. So with that being said, we'd like to welcome 2022 with our very first change. Punishments that are 1+ years old will be considered as such, old, and will not by default weigh into the punishment progression that we have. While 1 year may sound like a lot, it really isn't, as you do not by default get banned until you reach e.g. 6 Non-RP or 2 DM punishments, and if you manage to get this within a year, that may be an issue of your own that needs to be solved. Cheating, Bug Abusing, Ban Evading, Server Advertising, Real World Trading, Harassment, Chargebacks, OOC Racism/Homophobia, and other similar severe rule punishments will not be considered as old. Admin Staff will still be able to, for extreme cases, seek a deviation from established guidelines from a member of Senior Staff, to consider old punishments in the punishment weight. This could for example apply to when a player has combat logged several times or reached an absurd amount of Non-RP punishments. Players who are currently banned will still need to appeal their bans, and any players who have been given a date to appeal will need to wait until said date. We will however take this change into account for those who submit appeals but do take note that a very extensive admin record can still affect the outcome of your appeal, but a better focus will be put on the date of the punishments. Additionally, we will be enforcing our 5 pillars of moderation internally within the team more extensively. Our goal as server administration is not to punish players, it's to educate players. Those who aren't cooperative, those who have a great negative impact on a situation, those who deliberately break rules, and those who are unwilling to learn, are who we seek to educate through punishments. Server administration has more options to solve a situation in which a rule violation has occurred, other than punishments, such as voiding a roleplay situation, restarting a roleplay situation, or influencing a change to a roleplay situation. We'll make sure that a greater focus is put on the latter options, including through forum reports. On an end note, I'd like to take this time to wish our community a Happy New Year! I hope you will have a safe, but pleasant entry into the new year. This year on Eclipse started very well, but admittedly, started to slow down towards the end of it. I can however foresee great things to come for 2022 as we continue to, together, strive towards becoming as perfect as we can be.
  19. Hey, this is pretty much the answer to this. Bank Robberies have the potential to generate a lot of money, and it's intended to be done with sufficient law enforcement online to be able to respond and react to the roleplay.
  20. Best of luck with the faction!
  21. Hello! We're working on a system to improve our internal punishment guidelines and the type of punishment a player receives based on how old their previous punishments are. Currently, staff can and are encouraged to seek deviation to give a lesser punishment to someone who had e.g. DM #1 a year ago, so that they don't need to ban them when they are issuing DM #2. We however recognize that this isn't always being done, and relies too much on one's individual judgement - so we're working on a system that will consider certain punishments "old" after a year, and not have them weigh in by default on punishments. We'll make an announcement once we feel comfortable implementing this. Do note that this would not affect currently banned players, as they will need to appeal their bans as per usual and those who have been given a date on their appeals will need to wait until said date.
  22. I cannot replicate any potential bugs. I have tried putting it in and taking it out of a bag, briefcase, car, dropped it on the ground, tried interacting with food and water items with the gun in my inventory & loadout, tried switching gloves whilst having the gun equipped, and then with the gun in hand, tried loading/unloading, same results on a pistol .50 Black Gloves - No Prints Green Gloves - No Prints Leather Gloves - No Prints Long Black Gloves - No Prints Blue Gloves - No Prints Working Gloves - No Prints White Gloves - No Prints Fingerless Gloves - Prints What I can confirm: SED & METRO (SWAT) uniforms come with gloves that do not actually function like scripted gloves. It leaves their prints behind unless they go back into /fl after equipping their uniform and choosing their gloves manually. This is what may confuse some officers as they will, if they don't have this knowledge, leave their prints on an item whilst they believe they have gloves on, and thus potentially and unintentionally spread misinformation. Unequipping your gloves when your gun is in your loadout will not leave prints regardless of how you interact with the gun, as long as you don't drag it back into your main inventory. As for this bug report, I'm willing to test further if you have any ideas as to how the store-bought gloves are supposedly bugged and leave prints. I don't think "I always wear gloves" is appropriate to confirm that there is in fact a bug.
